Indeed she rocked in Beiyuan. Far more useful than the FL that had to be rescued at every turn bc she went charging incompetently into danger thinking she is superwoman. And considering there are 6 more episodes I am quite sure she is going to get herself into at least 1 or 2 situations where she is way in over her head. This is one where I will be sad if she doesn’t meet a well deserved ending. If the FL tries so hard to kill themself, they should be allowed to.

At least SZY's sister can fight and she is one helluva shot. Not a fan of her or her antics either but her level of dumbness is vastly exceeded by that of the featherbrained FL. Who is only good for being rescued from being shot at. She of all people does NOT belong there!

I am fine with the slow paced romance. Some of their conflicts or obstacles are a bit contrived but still at the people in love do foolish things level rather than it just makes no sense level.

The emperor in this drama should be loosely based on a young Li Longji or Xuanzong emperor. He had many loves and a vast harem, the most famous of which was Yang Guifei though that was later on in his life. This should be set earlier on in his reign, when he is not yet that powerful.

She could at least show some conflict like she is torn between SZY and her bro; that she is tempted to trust him but can't because the stakes are too high. The role is poorly written but in the hands of a better actress would not come across as so toxic. She tosses SZY aside so casually like she doesn't give a shit it is making SZY look like a clown to take this kind of abuse from a woman. Who is very pretty but no one is THAT pretty. The only reason I am still watching this is my old dad seems quite entertained by it, who knows why omg!

Ok at this point I am convinced the director of this drama must have have something against Huang Mengying. Bc she is a very pretty actress and I have never seen her shot in such an unflattering way. From zooming into all the pores in her face to catching her face at the worst, most matronly camera angles... Its very disturbing bc it makes it even more unbelievable that Wuyin is head over heels for her.

Wow the way JCY looks at HWF is so hot! And that finger press scene was way more sensual than most kiss scenes. The acting here is so natural, mature and effortless that it breezes me past the more annoying plot points. I don't even mind that LC and the Princess that much bc they are both obviously eating their hearts out. And tbh, Princess Gambit has taken absurd to such a new height that this drama actually seems kind of normal.

They were heavily rumoured to be an item ages ago in their first collaboration.
