What about The Golden Hairpin?
As far as I know that wasn’t banned. It should be released soon.

This is not a comment about the drama but does anyone knows how to download a gif? I could like to upload one…
Right-click on the GIF and select "Save Image As" or a similar option

So far, this fl is a great fl. I really like her. Can’t wait to see the next episodes and the romance blossoms…
Oh of course Tang Yan was really at the top of her game during the time of Princess Weiyoung and she is still a flawless beauty now. I believe Hu Ge was giddily in love with her and remains a good friend who helped her stage her recent comeback in Blossoms Shanghai. But she was never that great of an actress she was always dubbed by a VA and still doesn't really voice herself that well although she slayed in her native Shanghai dialect in Blossoms Shanghai.

" I don't find him handsome at all."
I think that was intended and meant to illustrate that not only can Wei Shao not think straight when it comes to his wife, but he also can't see straing.

I like Wei Yan a lot too - I find him to be the most interesting character in this story. Liu Duanduan has done a terrific job bringing out the character's complexity. I mean imagine, his father kidnapped and raped his mother and that more or less caused her death. Nonetheless her family raised him and accepted him although not unconditionally. He definitely covets Xiao Qiao but I think he will resist the temptation to show that he is indeed his father's son. I hope he will end up saving her from his father but I fear it may cost him his life.

Well its supposed to be 3 Kingdoms period. It'd be quite strange for everyone to survive....😅

I think the tone has taken a decidedly romantic/comical shift. I doubt it will turn dark again though I wouldn't be unhappy if it did.

Title The Prisoner of Beauty Spoiler
Never look a gift horse in its mouth:
This is the best gift Wei Shou could have given Manman. Knowing what her family's security means to her, he is willing to give her something that will help them defend themselves. OMG in those times 500 gift horses is a kingdom! He is basically telling her he probably won't kill her family dead. SHE (and not HE) is just too lovesick to read the room.

Its role reversal. He is acting out the terrified virgin trope.

Only half finished so there maybe more stories to come, something little angst from the teaser I watched. BTW…
Don't think so - it is a tear mole. In Chinese physiognomy, it is quite an unlucky mole. Most people I know who have it, have it removed. I personally don't believe this stuff and most mainland Chinese don't either so that is probably why he left it. But my cousin who is a dermatologist makes tons of "easy money" blasting it off peoples faces, both men and women.

Yes actually my mistake I have edited above - Warring States should be after Qin dynasty so there were emperors. Although after 60 years Wei state won their empire didn't last 3 generations bc the emperors were weak. Cao Cao was always just a general/Duke of Wei he never dared call himself emperor although the emperor was his puppet and terrified of him. His son Cao Pi was more aggressive and seized the throne and named his father emperor posthumously. If this followed history there wouldn't be much of a happy ending.

The story is entirely fictional. They may have randomly used names of ancient Chinese cities and provinces but the map they show of the territories looks fictional. That said, this is VERY LOOSELY inspired by 3 Kingdoms period. Wei Shao is loosely based on the great warlord Cao Cao whose son Cao Pi ended up usurping the Han throne. He should be a hereditary military governor, which is why his title is interchangeably 诸侯/Zhūhóu/warlord or 公/gōng/duke. Idk why they translated that into marquis I guess it sounds better in English. It was a very bloody period with a bunch of fief/warlords duking it out with each other over territory. Didn't read the book I hear its a bodice ripper but I think in reality, those warlords would have been a lot more brutal than the book.

This is not recorded on set. That is hideously expensive for costume dramas even most S+ dramas don't have the budget to do that. The leads are just dubbing themselves.

Well first they need to complete the canal. And in real history, that takes decades.
