Yeah no one is bashing the dumbass emperor and eunuch for leaving such an important token just there for anyone from a lowly palace maid to a princess to grab.

Clearly the plot requires that she goes to Jinxiu and the writers want to put the ML on the highest pedestal by doing his best to stop her. That comes at the cost of making her seem unbelievably dumb. I wish they wrote it differently.

Just kidnap the director, take over and make one of the characters do it.

Yes it is indeed an enjoyable drama, hopefully it stays this way till the end.

Ah, thank you for reading my reviews. Unfortunately I dropped Shadow Love. I am super busy this year I have less time for dramas. I watched a few episodes it was alright but didn't grip me enough for me to make time to continue.

Not by a long shot - my money is still squarely on the FL in The Princess Gambit.

I don't think its fair to say his acting is bad but he is definitely less experienced than LQ and he does have a tendency to overact that has made me drop some of his previous dramas. But he has toned it down in this drama and I quite like his portrayal even though sometimes his line delivery is off. And I didn't like his confession I thought he smirked too much and his expression could have been more sincere. But all in, this is the most nuanced and enjoyable performance I have seen from him so far, I don't have serious complaints.

Most of drama budgets go to paying actors, especially the leads. While neither Li Qin nor CZY are among the highest paid Chinese actors, they are not cheap either. So my guess this is a mid-budget drama. I personally think the production values are decent.

Yeah its written by a not highly regarded romance web novelist. Looks like this could be one of those few that the drama is much better than the novel.

Yeah that's why I didn't recommend the drama, just the opening fight scene.

I don't think MY's father is involved in his schemes. As a family, they gained nothing from the former Empress fall and MY was a small boy at the time. Whatever is going on behind MY's betrayal, it happened later on. We aren't even at the mid point yet and a lot has been revealed already. I expect at least another 2 or 3 subplots otherwise the plot will just go nowhere for 24 episodes.

Yeah they both more or less look their real ages.

Could be but FB drama comments are littered with fake news. From what I have seen on the mainland sites, the story has deviated significantly from the novel so I wouldn't rely that much on rumors/novel hints for what happens to anyone.
