1 The death squad belongs to XJS and he gave control over them to MY when he left Susha. MY seems to be working with whoever is controlling XJS with poison. Probably the Junxiu emperor or dowager. Maybe MY’s mother abandoned him to marry the previous Jinxiu emperor. That would make her the Dowager Empress Jing. In history something like this really happened it was featured in Qin Alliance.

Agree the Zhuang’s are only after the throne for their heir but I do think they were the ones who framed FSG’s mother as a traitor years ago. MY was too young to have done that. There are multiple conspiracies afoot and they may or may not be linked.

Fictional still has to be grounded in some logic and realism. If it were that easy there is no story to tell bc the Susha empress would have bumped her husband off long ago and PM Zhuang would have been regent over her silly son and XJS would already be Jinxiu emperor and this would be an entirely different and rather unwatchable story. 😅😂

Well he seemed to be controlling XJS and had the antidote to his poison. So he must be in cahoots with whoever is poisoning XJS.

No it is not, but so far there are no overt links between them either. He is definitely however working with someone on the Jinxiu side - either the emperor or the dowager.

1. What is Murong Yao after? He claims harming FSG was NOT part of his plan. Yet he seems to be out to kill the Minister of War (Hou). Does he simply want to bring his father back to the capital as the new Minister of War?

2. How did the emperor get poisoned/become so terminally ill 15 years ago? It seems the empress Zhuang and the PM didn't do it.
