I've only watched 3 episodes and right now I only really like Ho Bak and Gwank Bak, please tell me things go well…
Gwang Bak's story is SO sweet. As for Ho Bak and her husband, I have only seen half the drama; I only watch half, and half later, so I don't know about their end, what I can tell you is that they go through many ups and downs. They love each other but they keep doing stupid things, especially her husband. It is frustrating. Honestly, the whole drama is frustrating and fun at the same time, and that's why I personally loved it. The whole family grew on me as I watched it. So it depends on your taste.
Great list! Dramas from that time bring me a nostalgic feeling. A special quality that is no longer apparent in newer dramas. They feel different. I love watching them.
imo, around the year 2013, drama quality started to visibly change. Not necessarily in a bad way, just different. Same thing if you compare dramas from early 2000s to late 2000s-early 2010s. The world is revolving and we cannot do anything about this change except to watch these dramas.
As a big fan of family dramas, and long dramas in general, I love seeing them getting recognition.. Thank you for the article!
I was recommended Wang’s family in my similar article and I really loved it. I’ve seen most of what you’ve recommended and the rest are already on my list!
I'm so happy writers like her exist. I watched my third drama of hers and it is full of soul and love like the others. They don't feel like empty shells, with an empty concept. Yes they all become melodramatic and maybe draggy but I don't mind that, because it does have meaning in some way. I know I shouldn't make this kind of judgment, but from her beautiful lines I feel like she's a good person.
Number 4 is my biggest pet peeve. It is only fine when done right, and that's hardly ever. Also dramas that exceed 1hr by 20 or 30 min are mostly a big turn off. edit: I don't mind many episodes though.
Thank you for shedding the light on the problematic aspect of having unnecessary shirtless scenes. It feels like the actor was forced to sell his body for viewership/money.
Although it left me in pieces.

Beautiful story. The writer and director did it again!
I have no words.
Ho Bak snd Sedal (married couple)
Soo Bak and Min Jung (married couple)

One, I think, that needs to be included is the stellar: Shin. Hye. Sun.
