This is how I understand it based on the novel. JQX has always been a loner. He’s part of the Qunshan group because of YT. YT is the only thing connecting JQX and the rest. While his mom is a factor of him distancing from others, imho, he doesn’t really miss the others as much as he misses YT ✌🏻

I’ve done some pretty embarrassing stuff to chase a boy too when I was 17, so I’m in no position to degrade Yingtao’s action. What I can say is she is a very amazing person, at a young age of 17, she has a kind heart, brave, care for her friends and willing to go all the way to make sure the person she cares about is safe and sound. maybe some people will think, what she did is stupid and embarrassing, but at least her heart is kind and full of love. I wish I was more restrained and study more too when I was 17 😂😂 but looking back, as long as I live my life fully, I think..there’s no regrets.

if the production follows the nivel closely, then yes, Yu Qiao does have a feeling towards Yingtao, however, he never outrightly confessed to her, until somewhere later in their university years. things got awkward for a while between them but later it got back to normal. Yu Qiao didn’t persistently pursue Yingtao, but he was always there for her. Alas, this is Yingtao and JQX story, so Yu Qiao never had the chance to be in a romantic relationship with her.
