Regardless, Jing wouldn’t have the chance to save her or get close to her romantically if XL didn’t push her away and made himself unavailable throughout the story. Food for thought

Their crazy, unreasonable antics made me dread watching Jing on screen. I hate to admit it, but his presence now reminds me of them. What they are doing has the opposite affect imo.

She told XL She didn’t want to kiss him bc she was afraid to fall in love with him in episode 19. From that scene alone, there is some romantic interest. Also she easked her grandpa if she could marry his enemy (XL).

I agree with others they have an unspoken love that they are too afraid to explore beyond subtle eye gazes, gestures, longing looks.

I really want to see 2ML punished in next episode.

In my opinion “spectacular” doesn’t mean death. It would be more spectacular for him to be a “free bird”, free from duties and debt. however, I know c-directors and authors think a death would be more impactful. Again, this is my opinion and personal pref

Agree with your analysis all the way. XL is my fav character. I don’t even care that he doesnt get XY. My only gripe is how the author created such a loveable character and then took him from us cruelly. I wish he gets to live on.

This is true. I understand this is how the story has to be. Unfortunately, I’m just not a fan of this character design. I still like the actor a lot though

Yeah. I think he is modeled after the stereotypical, conniving 2nd FL, rather than ML. That’s why he is so two-faced

I agree! I think ML knows too after immortal Li (the guy who writes the mortal love story) told him the story changes based on the god’s innate personality and actions, which is out of immortal li’s control

Don’t get me wrong, I usually like and sympathize a lot for 2nd male leads but I find the one here so petty, annoying, and a straight up bad friend. It’s hard for me to tolerate him

The biggest surprise for me was how prince Xu Ming got a warm welcome back to the heavenly realm. I thought there would be an awk silence, evil eyes, or even boos/whispers LOL

Totally valid viewpoint. I believe the author made 3 flawed MLs and from the comments/discussion threads, it’s apparent most viewers have a fav and one they cannot stand.

To be fair to CX, he did save XY and Jing from the maze. Additionally, he had his men give her enough spiritual energy long enough for XL to get there and save her (XL said she would have died if she didn’t get the spiritual energy from them). I think these actions seem less impactful bc his men carried them out (rather than him personally), but without them, XY and Jing would have died in that maze.

I also liked how he chose to avenge her, rather than gaining political support in the Central Plains by letting it go (what FL and his sister advised).

That said, he is not my fav bc he uses her, and it makes me feel icky that he asked XY to spend time with Jing and FL.

After this, the only healing drama for me is one where Tan Jian Ci is happy 😝
