This episode was devastating, Chet is such a vile character I wish Nueng would have slapped him after the way…
Making Anueng older in the drama compared to the book caused issues in this episode. In the book, Anueng was still legally a minor (although 19 years old), and Nueng was acting as her legal guardian, basically a de-facto parent. This greatly complicated their relationship, and Nueng struggled with this issue. In the book, it is understandable that Nueng would surrender to the wishes of Anueng's family, because legally, she had no say anyway (and nor did Anueng). But in the drama, Anueng is 22 and legally an adult. It's hard to see why Nueng wouldn't just tell Anueng's family to go fuck themselves and leave her and Anueng alone, especially considering how little Nueng cared about other's opinions at the start of the drama.
I agree, but I think they have done as well as they can to make up for the change with this episode, I mean sheโs…
I'm disappointed that they chose to leave out Nueng describing some of Anueng's sexual activity preferences to Anueng's mother when she confronted Nueng to ask her if she was in a relationship with her daughter. In the book, Nueng's admission and description of Anueng's preferences was done to cause Phiangfa to think Nueng was being sarcastic, because her story just seemed too ridiculous to believe (even though it was all true). In the drama, Phiangfa flies back to Thailand after hearing from Chet that Nueng and Anueng are in a relationship, so obviously Phiangfa thinks there could be something to the rumour. But when Nueng tells Phiangfa that she is with Anueng, Phiangfa immediately thinks she is being sarcastic, even though the "unbelievable" details of Anueng's preferences were omitted from Nueng's answer. I think I'll "fix" this in my subtitles.
Aging Anueng by 2-3 years at the start of the drama causes a problem in the latest episode. In the novel, it made sense that Anueng could be forced to move to the US with her mother, as she was still legally a minor (at age 19). But in the drama, she's 22 and legally an adult. That means she doesn't have to do anything her parents or grandma asks.
Cute and fun, but a shallow plot and amateur production. But if you are a fan of GL content, it is definitely worth 80 minutes of your life to watch it.
for those who read the novel, at this point in the drama, are we close to the ending of the novel or not???
We are close and there won't be a season 3. The only reason there were two "seasons" is because the 12 episodes were split into two groups of 6, because they wanted to reshoot some of the scenes from the second half of the drama. This meant the final 6 episodes were delayed, and so they were marketed as "season 2".
After finally reading an English translation of the novel blankโs based on, Iโm so scared that if they follow…
Yeah - they'll have to be careful not to try to squeeze too much in the remaining two episodes. I'm quite curious to see how they end it compared to the book. I'm pretty sure it won't end with a discussion of vegetables.
I read somewhere that the series will end differently than the book.
Was that just some fan speculating? Nothing official has been released as far as I know. So far, they've followed the book reasonably closely, although they've had to cut out or shorten some side plots due to time constraints. I'll be surprised if they deviate too far from the novel โฆ but we'll see.
Are those translation the same on their youtube channel?
No. The reason I do this is because there are problems with those English subs, and my subs fix those problems. This was a MUCH bigger issue in Season 1, when they auto-translated the Thai dialogue into English subs. The Season 1 subs were truly terrible, which motivated me to redo them. The Season 2 subs are much better, because they have now hired a human to translate them into English. They still have problems, just far fewer and much less serious than the Season 1 subs.
Love love love Blank the series! I just thought since Yoko and Faye's chemistry was so great it would have been…
For me, BLANK is easily better than GAP. I love GAP, but I just think the acting and story are much better in BLANK, even though the production lacks polish.
I agree, but some of this problem has occurred because the drama increased Anueng's age by 2 years (compared to…
I've just checked the novel, and this isn't correct. When Nueng and Anueng first have sex, Anueng is still 18 (see p453). They had been (secretly) dating for some time when they get discovered by Chet. Anueng was 19 when this happened (see p687, p699 & p710).
S02E04 Improved English Subs are done. The usual changes have been made. This episode, I also made some of the flirty banter between Nueng & Anueng less ambiguous. Enjoy. All links are in my Profile.
Does anyone know if it mentions in the novel if she has ever ๐๐ผ๐๐ผ with Chet ๐ฅด idk I wanna know…
If you remember right back in episode 1, Nueng explains that she was taught as a child that she was above everyone else, and so no one was worthy of her. Consequently, she never even considered relationships. Even the wealthy and good looking son of the ex-Prime Minister wasn't worthy of her. (Nueng only agreed to date, and then marry Chet solely so she could run away from the wedding to humiliate her grandma). I have no clue why casual sex wasn't on her menu (so to speak). It's probably best to not over-analyse dramas, because plot holes and logical inconsistencies can often be found in the plot.
No chance. They have followed the novel reasonably closely, so once the story ends, it ends. But it is almost…
Nothing has been announced as far as I know, but they'll obviously be limited to age-gap dramas, which is fine by me, because that is one of my favourite tropes.
Does anyone know if it mentions in the novel if she has ever ๐๐ผ๐๐ผ with Chet ๐ฅด idk I wanna know…
No, she never did. In the novel, Anueng asks Nueng about her sexual history, and if my memory is correct, Nueng says she has only ever had sex once in her life, and that was a one night stand with Dr Wan Viva.
Only two episodes left, I hope they won't let us cliff hanging, this series definitely needs season 3.
They are following the novel quite closely. They will wrap up the story in the next two episodes and there won't be a season 3. But I'm confident that we can look forward to more GL dramas with these two wonderful actresses in the future.
Even though I read the novel twice, I knew I still wasn't going to be prepared because of their acting and I'm…
I agree, but some of this problem has occurred because the drama increased Anueng's age by 2 years (compared to the novel) in response to the criticism of a noisy minority who had an issue with the age gap. Even though 18 is legally an adult in most countries, in Thailand, an 18 year old is still a minor, and therefore needs a legal guardian. That is why Anueng's family's interference makes more sense in the novel (where she is not legally an adult even though she is 19 by then) than it does in the drama (where she is already legally an adult).
No chance. They have followed the novel reasonably closely, so once the story ends, it ends. But it is almost certain that Faye and Yoko will star in more GL dramas together. I'd be surprised if they haven't already been browsing scripts for their next project.
I think I'll "fix" this in my subtitles.
