She is too self reliant...I can understand that at the beginning of the drama, but towards the ending when ML…
The writing is the one at fault as this is about a drama.
She locked up the ML in her plantation cottage/place and went to marry Mr.Yan. As she doubted Mr.Yan's identity, she should have taken help from ML as that is his profession. Locking him up is a disrespct to his professional identity. ML helps FL deal with her issues wit guidance and support and not by taking over her business, he doesn't interfere in her thing beyond a good partner.
Right in the intro it was said, Rongs were matrilineal but men were treated equally and with respect..here the ML was reduced to having to do all the work with respect to relationship and reduced to an almost obedient sidekick.
And in other dramas, which I have watched, where MLs behaviour is toxic the comment section has always called it out and the justified/explained the toxic behavior when there has been a charcter growth/development. If ML lacked character development and continued with the toxic behavior I have seen the comment section call it out. (But this is based on each individual's experience and drama selection and time of engagement in comment section)

True...I was disappointed.
From women empowerment it went into toxic masculinity which is as harmful as submissive women...

He never had that family in 1st place..nothing of that was shown from before...and he has hus ambitions for law enforcement and justice...he shouldn't give that up, ever

For me it wasn't conditioning.. I enjoy independent powerful female roles but it shouldn't be hyper-independence..that becomes toxic..
If she had depended on ML related to tea business that would be weakening or making her dependant...her not taking help when dealing with Yan a fraud and a possible convict, which is law enforcement and ML's job shows her lack of trust or control issues not independance...she loosened with her sister and made her work in tea plantation and gradually helped her sister grow and developed better relationships with other sisters as well....would have liked to see extension of trust and inclusion of ML into her life on equal and respectful terms as well .
The whole solving the case at Duke's mansion also was done by her...the writing reallybfailed the character...it is his job to investigate, solve and decide..she doesn’t need to take that on

Does happy ending equate to masterpiece or the drama being good?I read some conflicting reviews, some complaining…
Masterpiece for me is a coherent plot with very less plot holes...this drama was not tht

She is too self reliant...I can understand that at the beginning of the drama, but towards the ending when ML has already proven to be intelligent and trustworthy, her not softening was a no-no. She could have taken his help with the Yan case, which is his job ,and not locked him up. It became like a dominant FL while ML keeps trying to make the relationship work. Lack of character growth towards the end as far as the relationship aspect is concerned

What was the capital arc all about? It serves no purpose to add all those characters...I hadn't wondered about LJL's origin throughout plus all there was no complain from the capital about such tea throughout the drama...I don't see what purpose it serves...they could have focused on LJL and RSB's relationship and relaxing of the norms for Rong family. ML's role was reduced to being used by FL throughout...not happy with the ending

Review Shine on Me
when the FL proposed to SML he rejects her and says "sorry" to which the FL replies that "she'll wait till he falls for her"..the whole fantasizing of a non-existent relation was done by FL...and you rightly pointed out 'what does room-mate crush have anything to do with FL' and also I don't think he needs to clarrify his relationship with her room-mate to the FL when he clearly rejected her..he never gave her false hope

story has depth but the direction I feel is not so good..the story telling makes it look like a regular love story with usual cliches..
I just finished Blood River, VOA which was super thrilling and awesome and intense and wanted something very light after that..so watching this..if you are looking for something simple, cute, light-hearted this is watchable for that

Not to offend anyone but I really don't understand why the sml is getting this much of hate. I mean yes he was…
I think SML meant both..he remembered she had told him she'll wait and make him fall in love with her, and later he gets to know the truth and feels he could have lost her, and asks in a round-about way will she come back and FL thinks he is referring to Rong and says "she'll come back"..but he thinks he meant herself and I guess he connected both things to assume that he still had a chance...I think he felt surprised when she hadn't gone abroad to study as he feels he has a chance after his conversation with her which got worse after he saw her with ML..It was entire sequence of events I feel..(I haven't read the novel, these are the way I am watching the drama as it is unfolding)

Not to offend anyone but I really don't understand why the sml is getting this much of hate. I mean yes he was…
I remember him being silent always, he even rejected her saying 'sorry' when she proposed to him 1st time, but it was FL who wanted to win him over and promised to wait for him (not siding with SML or FL, just telling the scene how it was shown)..he had an outburst in hotel lobby..and his comment about work seemed like negative psychology to get her to apply at the job fair (based on the actor's expressions)...please remind me of other scenes which show him being emotionally demeaning to her..I don't remeber SML mistreating FL, Rong and the other dorm-mate were manipulating on both sides from what I remember, and the dorm-mates were envious of FL's wealth

I feel the same..if this was Haters to Lovers trope , with SML being ML the comments would probably be different..also I have seen people defend a Red Flag ML and wait for his redemption arc and be fine when FL rejects green flag SML only because he is SML..nice to meet one more person who shares my POV as well..
hope the writers give ZX a redemption arc than make him a psycho SML
