Ep. 9 and I’m really over the Mr. McHandsy Ponytail arc. Obviously he’s an attractive guy but he’s giving me the creeps. Am I alone in this? He just seems like such a predator, quite aside from all the misunderstandings he’s causing. Just had to vent. I’ll be glad when he’s taking up less screen time.

Huh. Well, I’m not wise in the ways of MDL, so I have no idea how this usually works, but I totally agree the current synopsis is going to mess with people’s expectations whether they’re into the poetry angle or not.

The cdramalove synopsis you provided is more accurate, at least as of episode 20. I guess I just assumed the MDL one was taken from the novel.

Do we know yet if the body swap tag is accurate? That's a big no for me (no judging here; I just can't handle the philosophical implications) and I'm still quite pouty with Mango TV for their mishandling of TSP. But then I saw Zhang Ling He and I'm enjoying him in Maiden Holmes so much that now I'm wavering. . .

I love his grumpiness and uprightness :). Reminds me of Ren Jia Lun.

Aargh, someone tell me if I should keep going with this. I’m stalled out at the beginning of Ep. 14. I have trouble keeping a straight face during QF’s explanation. Simon looks like he’s having trouble keeping a straight face. It just seems like sloppy storytelling and I’m too annoyed to care what happens next. Anyone have any words of wisdom for me? Spoilers are fine.

Yes! I just about teared up when I saw all those little kids. . . . But I also love how nuanced it is about inequality--the class discussion in episode 16 is really fascinating. On one side you have true charitable behavior, respect for others as individuals and helpful intervention in their lives; on the other you have rich people making themselves feel better by giving money without really thinking about where the money comes from or where it's going. I'm even more intrigued when I think about how this might play out given China's own history, but it's a point that could apply to any country. I feel like this show is making me want to write entire essays :). Why isn't there a Soompi discussion for it? (Um, probably just as well in my case because I wouldn't be able to shut up).

Oh, no! It’s too late! I’m already totally into this pair! I can handle some angst on the way to a happy ending, but I feel like TSP chewed up my heart and has yet to spit it back out again, you know? Maybe I should slow down a bit on this one…

I feel like I need a support group with suggestions of what to watch to get my mind off TSP! I’m scared to watch any more on-air dramas but I can’t find anything finished that’s really speaking to me. I’m watching “Way Back into Love “ at the moment. It’s cute so far but slow (not in a draggy way, if that makes sense). I wanted to watch “Miss S,” which is sooooo visually appealing, but apparently the dialogue is pretty sophisticated, because my Mandarin is just not good enough to keep up with it. So I’ll have to try Maiden Holmes!

I swear, if I ever watch another on-air drama again…someone smack me. I’m in such a state right now.

Yes! 33 especially is the pure healing sugar I was craving :).
