Yes, that's the scene from the novel where CWD dies. But in the trailers/MV/posters you can see CWD with a scar and wearing a mask. There is one particular poster in weibo where you can see a mature MX hugging CWD from behind. He is wearing a mask and you can tell that he has scars. I wish I could post photo here but I don't know how to do that.

Nah, MX and CWD will have a happy ending in the drama. I'm very convinced. I've read the novel and so far they I've only used bits and pieces of the novel in the drama. But most of it is different. E.g. CWD's screen time is much more in the drama. Whereas in the novel, CWD only appeared in the second half. CWD was a bandit in the novel whereas in the drama he is a loyal general. MX is also more impulsive in the novel and obsessed with WJG whereas in the drama she is more sensible and she is already developing positive feelings towards CWD. I've also seen some posters and scenes in the released trailers and MVs that hints that CWD won't die like in the novel.

Agree, personality wise MX and CWD are more compatible. Think MX is attracted to WJG's appearance. She didn't have much time to truly understand WJG on the deeper level. Just like our superficial puppy love and how many of us really end up with our first loves? 😬

No don't say that. We don't know for sure if CWD will die in the drama. In fact, I think he'll survive, as there is photo circulating on Weibo where he is wearing a mask cause he is disfigured. My guess is that he'll be assumed death after saving MX. MX remains single and builds a successful business. After a time jump they'll reunite again, as in one of trailers there is a scene where MX has the high hairdo sitting in the carriage and CWD passes by with a mask.
