Edinaa, don't we all wish we had super powers!
Hope you got all your Saturday errands run & can now have a relaxing Sunday evening with dramas. :)
I'm still on Can You Heart my Heart (not liking it very much at the moment) & about to start Golden Empire. How did it (GE) work out in the end for you? Did you end up liking it any better?

Too early to say! Have only watched 10/30 eps. Wait til I'm finished & I'll tell you what I think.

Re MARS, hmm, interesting to know! I should check out some more of their adaptations then, if what you say is true! I remember I had Skip Beat on the list, but took it off because I got the impression that it's veeeeeery slow moving & I've got better written Jp dramas for that so I don't need more. I think my next Taiwanese drama will be the currently airing one ... Just You I believe it's called.

As for Innocent Man, I have no idea who Song Joong Ki is so he's not incentive enough to take a chance on this melo that's got people so divided! lol Believe it or not, though romance is always nice to have it's not imperative to every drama I choose to watch. Nor is it enough for me to watch a drama I otherwise might dislike (even if the romance itself is pretty good). So we'll see about Innocent Man. I'll keep what you said in the back of my mind in case the mood for a good melo strikes one day.

I haven't see a role of Lee Bo-young (I think that's her name) that I've liked, but I can't say I dislike the actress. By the way, may I ask why she's on your blacklist? Anyway, many Korean actresses are like this for me. I like them, I see that they can act, but the roles they play aren't very appealing. This happens with some actors too, eg Kim Nam Gil, but on rarer occasions. That ever happen to you?

Haha! I totally bowled over at your comments about Min-ho 'hands in pocket' Lee! haha

So he's that bad, eh? See that's why I want to watch him in something, ANYTHING ... even if it's horrible because I just have to see for myself. I'm not planning to watch City Hunter or Heirs because they interest me, but just to meet him & see what all the fuss is about. It took the greater part of a year for City Hunter to land on my list. And I will only watch Heirs if I don't get to CH by the time it comes out.

It would appear that you're waaaaay less shallow than me, chingu! I think he's incredibly handsome. Whatever I may think of his acting, I gotta give him his looks. And if he asked me on a date I'd seriously risk pissing off my ahjussi big time & go with him! lol

But yes I can certainly understand the appeal of not accepting, just to say you rejected the mighty, internationally loved Lee Min-ho! LOL
For me though the opposite is true, I'd accept just to say I DID go on a date with him & he's so and so! he he he

Ok so long comments. Just type until you've used up the entire 1800 characters you're allotted. Keep in mind, though, that you won't be able to edit after you've used up 700 or so characters.

In the end I don't regret watching PP in any way, but I sure wish I knew about Asian melodramas before I choose PP as my introduction to that world! lol

Come see me when you get done with it! Want to hear how it affects you! :)

Starting GE today. Meant to start it yesterday but ahjussi didn't leave the house to go fishing as planned. I can't immerse myself in a show when he's around! He's a distraction!

I don't know. I just happened across Heaven's Coin as I was looking for another romance drama to watch. I noticed it has 3 seasons, but whether there are other adaptations I can not say.

Your father, is he 100% Japanese? And do you still have family in Japan? Hope you don't mind that I ask. I'm just a curious filly. lol

I can not drop 99.8% of anything I watch so even though I neither like the cast nor the performances I'll stick it out. Maybe things will get better later on.

Well if you fall for self-confidence then you'll likely fall for Oguri Shun in RMPW for sure.

Like I told you when I think of hot and sexy he's not the first guy that comes to mind, but in that drama he had such charisma that you won't be able to help yourself. That's how it was for me, anyway. Maybe you have far more self control than I do! :)

I haven't seen Hana Yori Dango or Gokusen and I don't plan to, but trust me, in RMPW he looks NOTHING like how he looks in those dramas!!! In those he's a boy, in RMPW he's a man!!! ;)

If you end up not liking him in RMPW, okay come at me! :) I'm prepared to take on the onslaught of your complaints!

So you watched Sweet Room. Pretty hot, huh? There we got an updated version of Shohei! Damn that man can kiss!!! That girl is very lucky ...

Wow, that's awesome!

Generally I'm more drawn to the Korean language than Japanese because kanji et al intimidate me & I like the more spirited sound of Korean. Lately, though, I've missed hearing Japanese.

Even though it's easy to get caught up in the high intensity world of Korean dramas, everytime I watch a Japanese drama I'm reminded of why they're so great. Japanese men are haaaawt!!! ;-) And I love their calm simplicity and weird, complex stories. So I've been scan watching a few of shows lately, Heaven's Coin being the latest. Incredibly I was able to recognize a record number of words & simple sentences without subs. Some Japanese words also sound similar to Korean words so that definitely helps. Have you ever been to Japan?

It's interesting that just a year ago Japan was pretty low on my travel bucket list. Now it's like # 2, after Korea!

Re Can You Heart My Heart ... things seem to be picking up, but I must say this series hasn't won me over as fast as I expected it would. I'm having difficulty warming up to the cast & I can't really put my finger on why. After watching an amazing deaf hero in Aishiteru I wanted more so I decided to watch Heart. Sadly the hero here is clearly a hearing person playing deaf. He's totally unconvincing. The frustration of not being able to communicate, so extremely well portrayed in Aishiteru, is lost here. I'm a little disappointed, but will keep watching.

Omo, you finished Golden Empire already? Wow, that was fast! I haven't even started it yet, but I will soon. I'll be watching it along side Can You Hear My Heart. By the way I loved your review of it!

I scan watched Itoshi Kimi E the other day. Aishiteru is definitely much much better. I'd recommend you go with that (Aishiteru) first. The story is far more engaging & the chemistry between the leads is more palpable than in Itoshi. Moreover if real kisses are important to you, Itoshi may disappoint while Aishiteru may not.

It just occurred to me that you're of Japanese heritage! How lovely. Does that mean then that you're able to watch dramas without subs?

Speaking of heroes who are utterly sex on legs ... you gotta check out Toru Hyuga in Rich Man, Poor Woman. I actually find Oguri Shun quite ugly, but in that drama he was pretty haaawt! The guy's got boatloads of magnetism & charisma ... to the point where you don't give a damn how the heck he looks, you just want to jump him! LOL

He was a bit mean to the heroine, but that's mainly because he's a neurotic workaholic who's never been in love & you know Japanese men and their mommy issues! lol He was afraid to fall in luuuurve. Our heroine reaaally had to work hard on him to win him over. Anyway, he seemed to have been worth it because the end of the special was really sweet! ::grin::..
I'm sooo hoping for a movie, although it seems like a long shot! :)

Re my job, it's challenging, but since I love it so much even when it's threatening to kill me with stress I still wouldn't want to be doing anything else! :)

Nah ... you're not strange! I'm the same way actually. I mean, even though I was fed up at the time, I KNEW how Asian dramas go down so under normal circumstances I probably would've have liked the show better than I do. Every time I listen to hype I get burned. I knew that then & I know it now so it was my fault really. It's not any worse than other shows out there so I think you should definitely give it a go. Chances are you will end up liking it.

Now, let's talk about OD! Shohei-san!!! My friend, you're not alone in liking this player so ain't nobody gonna judge you!!! Ha ha! No ma'am, he's not that beautiful, but who cares! The guy's got swagger & I think that's what tickles our ovaries about him! he he he Or maybe it's because he really isn't a player at heart, but that he's searching for that womanly affection he ... ops just realize that you're only at ep 4 so let me not say another word! :) But yes, even though I still loved Kai to bits & pieces Shohei really caught my attention when I was watching too! ;)

You should sooo check out the actor in Sweet Room! ::swoon::...

Crazy fan girls convinced me that QIHM would be EXACTLY what the doctor ordered. A TOTALLY NEW experience, unlike any other Asian drama you'll ever watch. No cliche, no makjang, VERY ROMANTIC!

In reality? NO SUCH THING! One of the THE most cliche ridden show I've ever watched, plot holes the size of Norway, a show in which the couple spends at least 1/2 of the time APART because he's from the past & she the future. Dreadful, dreadful, dreadful! So I got angry and dropped its ass. It proved to be absolutely the SAME nonsense I was trying to run away from. It's likely QIHM would not have ended up on my dropped list had I stumbled across it on my own.

My work ... the 2011 short was about a mixed race boy going through an identity crisis. The pedophile movie is already 1/2 funded, but our funders have insisted that they won't release the money to us until we get an additional 12 500 euros. That's what we're working on finding now.

A producer's job is the find stories to tell & an interesting motion picture artists (that is to say, directors) to tell them. When the story & director are in place, the producer goes out and find the money to make the film. Once the money is in the box the producer makes sure that the production doesn't go over budget or run over time. Once the picture is made & ready to be viewed by audiences the producer's job goes over to marketing & selling the film to as many distributors as possible. One of the most important job of a producer is to make sure the investor at least gets back his money (break even) or makes a profit. This part of a producer's job is the most challenging because it's really really tough for the vast majority of productions to recoup its investment (for reasons often beyond its control). But it sure is fun trying. :)

I know what you're saying re connecting to characters. I get very attached to characters with movies too, but with movies I don't seem to internalize what happens to them as much as I do when it's characters from a drama.

I've heard that 1 Litre of Tears is a very life affirming drama. Meaning it reminds you of why it's good to be a life in spite of life's struggles. It reminds you to live to the fullest & pursue your dreams or simply the things / or people that make you happy. But while the drama inspires you to make the most of your life, it's ripping your heart out & stomping on it as you watch the poor girl waste away from her disease. It WILL make you cry one litre of tears. And for me that's where the buck stops. I can't & won't willingly put myself through such emotional turmoil.

My entertainment is for my enjoyment, to make me smile & feel warm inside. Not to remind me of how unfair & wicked life can be for snuffing out the life of such a vibrant, wonderful girl. That's just my position on the matter. I know that for many people such shows are cathartic & therapeutic and I have full respect for that.

Queen In-Hyun's Man, ha ha ha. Well, long story short, I fell for the hype around this show hook, line & sinker. Let me explain: though show suffers from the usual drama cliches & makjang, I probably would've still enjoyed it for what it's worth ... if people didn't convince me it was completely cliche & makjang FREE. I watched it fairly early in my drama watching career & I had fallen into a little slump because being completely new to the world of Asian dramas I wasn't used to all the repetitive & annoying cliches. So I was kind of rebelling & wanting to watch something more like what I'm used to in Western drama.

Bahahaha! Chingu, you're killin' me here with these hilarious posts! Ha ha ha ha

But let me just say, I totally & 100% agree with everything you said about Lee Min-ho! I have actually never seen the dude in a drama! That's right. NEVER!!! But I don't need to to realize he's WAAAAAAAY overrated!

I intend to watch him in Heirs ... if I don't get to City Hunter first. It is not because the story interests me in the slightest! It's because I want to see this international man of heart palpitations! Is he really worth it in terms of delivering a groundbreaking performance? Or is he just super hot man candy that tickle our collective ovaries? All indications point to the latter! LOL I've seen a couple of his photos & I can't deny that he's beautiful to look at. He has the slightest bit of effeminate airs about him in some of his less photoshopped pics, but still, if he asked me out on a date I wouldn't say no, unnie. Would you? LOL

So there's the dilemma. That's why I said I don't care if he can't act. He goood lookin' & that's all I'm seein' baby! The looks, the looks, the looks! :)
(And by the way, I haaate Titanic! I haven't even seen it, mind you! haha But I know I hate it cuz I don't like Kate Winslett or Leonardo Dicaprio!)

As for our astrological sign, nope, we're not the same! I'm Saggie and you're capricorn. My bday is Dec 16. So it turns out that you really are my unnie! I'm glad because let me tell you *I* am everyone's goddamn Unnie on MDL! LOL I was startin' to get a complex! LOL ...

Just goes to show MDL is populated with A LOT of youngsters! :)

Aright, sleep well, my chingu! Wishing you a lovely weekend & week and go kick some butt on that course! Fighting! :-)

Come back soon so I can bombard you with my rants about GE!!! Besos! :p

Where I'm concerned I just don't think she was right for that role. I don't have a problem with her mannerisms (like I do with say ... Ha Ji Won). I just thought she was miscast. Her entire look & way of being didn't really suit the atmosphere of the show or the circumstances of the story. I know they were going for the dowdy country bumpkin look, but ugh ... wrong actress, wrong role.

I've seen the actress before, in The Crucible, & she was alright. I didn't have a problem with her. There she looked a woman, not a woman-child, and I enjoyed her performance. Since I liked her in here I won't write her off just yet.

Well, let me make haste & add Phoenix to the list. Lee Seo-jin & Eric in one drama? I'm about to swoon dead away ... lol

As for Lovers, hmmm ... I liked that aspect of show. I like how the whole thing was handled & how it set the perfect stage for the unfulfilled love between Kang-jæ & Mi-joo. From where I sat the angst, the sexual tension between them as result of this obstacle was just palpable.

Sure, it's a plot device that's popped up before but not in such a mature, adult way (not in my experience at least). Of course you've watched way more than me so probably that's where the discrepancy in our perception lies. Personally I found that Lovers took all the usual drama cliches & used them in a context which made them seem logical rather than frustrating.

Moreover, what I loved the most about Lovers is the absolute absence of any and everything juvenile & or sugary sweet. It's a story about the complicated love lives of adults. I love these stories, but have to work too hard to find them in dramaland. :D

Hahaha ... er yeah, CHINGU (officially in Korean you can't, I've been told, call someone 'chingu' unless you're born in the same year). We are the same age. I'm an '80s baby too, '82 to be exact! :) You might be older than me depending on when you were born, tho. I came as a christmas gift so most people tend to be older than me. Anyway, why on earth do you wish you were born in '62? Heck, I'm here dreading turning 31 in a few months! lol

Nyway ... byronic hero, huh? Er, sitting here wondering what exactly that is, chingu? LOL Forgive me, it's early morning here!!!

Ok so you luuurve the OST! LOL, I get it! :) Is there a lot of negative angst in this drama? Meaning characters who spend 3/4 of the drama separated & most likely hating on each other? Does anyone fall ill or die? How about the kisses ... assuming there are any kisses! Are they real?

And omo, don't tell me you dislike Lee Min-ho??? Wææææ? Is something wrong with your eyes, chingu? The kid is really smokin'!!! Who cares if he can't act!? haha

I understand your reservation about the other aspects of Lovers. It's not to everyone's taste ... all this gangster sh--! lol
I like it because I like all the macho man stuff ... on tv. Not so much in real life! :)

Oh dear, did you read my review Que Sera Sera? I pretty much had the exact same issue with the female lead! In fact I think she was entirely miscast! When we first meet her in ep 1 I was horror struck by that dreadful hairstyle and by her in general. I said to myself 'this can't be our heroine', but indeed it was. I found her to be too juvenile, childlike. Very bland next to a dynamic larger than life character like Eric's.

She didn't ruin the show for me, but if I had my way I wanted a more solid (for the lack of a better term so early on a Saturday morning! lol) female lead. Someone who shows vulnerability but who is also more interesting than a limp noodle.

As for Soyoung. I have it on my list. I do like family dramas. I've watched quite a few! :) Why do you think I won't enjoy it? Is it very melodramatic or something?

Omo! Did you say 2 Weeks is like Prison Break? Really? I LOVE Prison Break! One the best shows ever. Which means I have to get off the fence and watch 2 Weeks for sure!

I've heard of Iljimæ, but I think I'm going to pass (well, for now) because I hear it has a really sad ending. Shall look forward to meeting him in Dog & Wolf and 2 Weeks, though!

Haha, been there done that! In fact I was just on your page again a minute ago. I've stolen a few titles: King of Dramas, Tree with Deep Root, With Love etc.

Tell me a bit about Beautiful Days. It's this one right?
http://mydramalist.com/korean-drama/722/beautiful-days
See our Byung-huney is in it. I tend to be a bit wary of older dramas (although Aishiteru to Ittekure kinda bust that prejudice wide open - I realize now that I really love that drama, despite everything!). Is it worth the watch?

I haven't seen her in anything, but you're not the first person to mention an intense dislike for that woman. I hear she has the most annoying, high pitched voice. Omo ... just, no! Not another Choi Jung-Yoon...

We're the same age, but 'unnie' can refer to someone of the same age too, can't it? I know dongsæng is when the person is younger & unnie is typically when the person is older, but what if you're the same age with someone who is like a close sister friend? That's the context in which I used 'unnie' to refer to you! :)

So Tæ-joo is that nefarious is he? I like him already he he he!
