Re: the stunt in Petty Romance. Watch & see, but let's just say it was NOT cool.
To be honest I don't have much fun in Oslo. I go out on occasion, but its not like back home where I had a very active social life. Mostly its just work-home-? (which could be church, eating out, attending a specific event etc). In general, Oslo is a very boring city & mainly the bf & I just stay home & find ways to entertain ourselves, lol. I've heard both Stockholm & Copenhagen are way better. When we do want to let our hair down we fly home, or where that's too expensive, we go to London or even Amsterdam or Berlin. That's what I love about living here. A change of scenery is just a couple hours away. We've been here too long to still care about 17th May. We stayed in & watched movies! :-)
There are a couple places we frequent: Grilleriet, Illegal Burger, Champagneria, Cafe Laundromat etc.

Arasso, arasso ... it's good that you're a real man who wants to take care of & support his woman! Nuff respect for that! :-)
Oh dear, yes please, do spoil. Why do you think this won't suit me? I figured since Hyun Bin's in it I'd give it a go. No?
He's cute & seems to be one of those emo type of actors that I (mostly) love. I have several of his movies on my list, Man from Nowhere & Brothers. This article reminds me that I better get to them! Thx! :)

Yeah, it's not a spectacular movie by any means but just the fact that it did not have all those annoying cliches makes it a worthwhile watch. Hope you enjoy it.
I dedicated 50 cent's In da Club to Knight. Just to give him some good gangsta vibes on his b-day.
By the way, I forgot to add 50 cent to my Hollywood list. He's totally gangster (not my usual type), but I like his body. His body is the kind of body I like on a man.

Bimba, what's up? Did I tell you how much I love your name? I have a dear friend of mine that's called C. Brown Bimba & he often uses the name BimbaB2000 ... so every time I see your name, I'm reminded of him.
Anyway I see that you recently completed Taiwanese drama Summer's Desire? What's your verdict? Any good? Recommended?
I want to watch more Taiwanese dramas, but I haven't been that impressed with the ones I've seen (only 2) so far. I know you and genger totally digged Autumn's Concerto, but for me it was just okay. And Devil Beside You, which I've been watching for several weeks now, is a hot mess. So I'm still looking for that Taiwanese drama that blows me completely away. I hope its out there just waiting for me to discover it! :-)

Edinaa, my dear, are you well?
I think I get what you mean when you say you like a movie or drama overall rather than specific characters. For me, this is mostly true with movies, but with series I'll have favourite characters since you spend so much time getting to them. Sometimes I'll like all the characters, but will like one more than others. For eg in Spartacus I like Sparty & Crixus more than say Gannicus & Agron.
Anyway, lately I watched several movies: Petty Romance (very funny), Wanee & Junah, The Journals of Musan, A Taste of Tea ... among others. Liked them all, all rated 6 & above. Drama wise I watched Love Shuffle & The World That They Live In. I don't really know what drama to watch next. Soooo many to chose from it's overwhelming! I might start Smile, You or continue with Salaryman.
What about you? Seen anything you'd recommend lately?

Now you've got me seriously curious about what 'those parts' in Love Exposure could be! Gonna make time to watch asap.
As for the drama I dropped ... well, I did it out of emotional frustration. It's among the 1st 10 dramas I watched so I wasn't very experienced with Asian dramas at the time. I allowed others to lead me astray rather than do my own investigation to see if the drama suited my tastes. I was told the show was like no other k-drama. There was no cliche, the romance was epic ... blah blah. When it turned out to be like every other cliche ridden drama I'd watched before it I was super disappointed & even a lil pissed. So I dropped it. To this day I'm still bitter about the experience, but I'm not opposed to 1 day finishing it off.
I watch mostly movies to spare time too. If I prioritized drama in my life I'd never get anything done. lol

Haha, ok I gotcha! But I have to disagree with you. I think it's awesome you're a self-described 'weird innocent girl'! Not so many of those running around these days. I was a weird innocent girl for a long time too ... until I met my bf 9 yrs ago, haha. And as I got older (I am several years older than you so you're my dongsaeng! :-) I became drawn to more mature stuff. Not necessarily sex related, but more mature themes overall. Ok now that I know what you like, I'll recommend accordingly.
By the way, first kisses are the best with someone who you really, really like and who really, really likes you so there's no rush until you find that person! :-) Gotta say that from your profile you have a very mature approach to analyzing (drama) relationships! That's why I befriended you bcuz I completely agree with everything you wrote!

Great website! I chuckled at your trials learning the Korean language. I actually thought your little introductory video was awesome! You sure sound a whole lot better than me. I've only started to learn the Korean alphabet with Rob. I was going really strong for a number of weeks, had even started to read quite well (although I didn't know what the words meant), but my job tends to get the better of me and learning Korean got sidelined. Watching your videos reminded me of my desire to learn the language, though, so I'm motivated to start back up again soon!
Are you able to watch dramas without subs? How far along in your lessons are you now?

Oh seeing them as family would be awesome! I'd love that. Hoping & praying for a movie, but I have no faith in the Japanese when it comes to romance. They only know how to make tragedies & weird art films. In this regard, the Koreans kinda have them beat.
I'll also revisit Love Letter at some point. So far I've watched about half the movie & didn't see what everyone loves so much about it, but I can't make an overall judgement until I finish it. Watching during the day is wise, but I don't recommend doing so with wine in the crook of BF's arm. That's what I did & I totally nodded off.
Pacing is my only complaint about Asian cinema, especially Japanese. They make some darn good, entertaining movies but dammit pacing's always so slooooow.
I'm tellin' ya, they've totally given me a masterclass on how NOT to develop a story!
So you're gonna watch MdSY in 1 go? Good luck!

Ooops, sorry about that. If I had know you weren't comfortable with sex/love scenes I'd have recommended accordingly. In fact I didn't think the love scenes in Chunhyang were that explicit, but I watch a wide range of mature stuff ... from tame kissing & hand holding to arthouse erotica so I'm not so innocent, haha. Moreover, I've got a pretty hot BF ... ;)
I should probably withdraw my rec of The Servant then, because there's even more sexy scenes in that one. It's an excellent story though, very touching ...
By the way you are 18 yrs old, aren't you? Just double checking because I don't want to be recommending adult content to underage viewers.

Loved the special. Finally we get to see Toru acting like a normal human being rather than a rabid beast. I really loved the ending scenes when Makoto moves in with him ... awww, my heart just melted & I forgave him for everything right then & there. Also loved when they're at Next Innovation & he's pretending to listen to her, but actually he's not. Cute. And when he finally realizes that she's actually at Next Innovation, for once he SMILED & the look on his face was one of genuine happiness & affection. It wasn't much romance wise but damn ... that was some good stuff. Like Makoto, we've been waiting a long time for this. A Toru in love. I really hope they do a special to the special. I'd love to see them again.
Right now I'm watching a movie called A Journal of Musan which is about a North Korean defector trying to make it in Seoul. I also might start Smile, You.
Well, I'm Lee Byung-hun's wife, his biggest fan, and the # 1 reason I will not watch IRIS is because I REFUSE to watch my husband get butchered so callously. No siree!

Hey Unnie, did you get to finish watching Petty Romance with BF? That movie really cracked me up! The chemistry between the leads was great, especially when they both got angry bcuz they both thought the other was seeing other people. I thought that stunt Jung Bæ pulled in the beginning was effed up though. If I'm honest it kind of ruined the show a bit for me because only a really nasty, vindictive person does something like that. Anyway, I tried not to dwell on it and enjoyed the movie overall.
So the male lead from Queen In-Hyun's Man is in the background of the cafe scene? Really? I totally missed him. I became a fan of him after seeing QIHM, but the drama itself was a bit of a disappointment for me. I'm gonna rewatch that scene & look for him.
What else are you up? Here in Oslo we're enjoying some really awesome weather. Loving it after a long winter! :-)

What's up, Lil' Dream! Glad you enjoyed Chunhyang, more or less, lol. First time I saw it I knew people without an appreciation for movies as an art form would have issues with the old man's singing, but personally I thought it was a pretty original way to narrate a film. In general this rendition of the story was pretty artsy so the unusual narration fits right in with the artistic nature of the film.
I'd recommend you see The Servant as well. It's a reinterpretation of the same story, but while Chunhyang was more about innocent, first love The Servant is more mature. It mixes up things a little & presents new conflict that's not in Chunhyang. The Servant follows a more traditional narrative so I don't think that'll get on your nerves as much. :-) Check it out & lemme know what you think.
What are you up to otherwise? Watching anything good?

No, no, I think you misunderstood what I wrote about rigid formulas. I don't have a rigid formula, lol. My point was that Asian dramas in general adhere to a rigid formula & I can't watch them back to back bcuz I'd get tired of seeing all the cliches on repeat. Get it?
As for Love Exposure, I have it on my list. Only reason I haven't watched it yet is bcuz of the runtime. I've never come across a 4hr movie before, but its bizarreness sounds right up my ally. I love weird art films so as soon as I have 4hrs to waste, I'll watch it.
Smile, You ... I've not been exposed to any of the actors previous works so I'm completely open. I'm going to start this later when I get home. I'm curious to see if I'll enjoy it as much as others. I don't like dropping dramas either. I've only dropped 1 to date & I'll probably go back & watch it someday.
Hmmm ... not in the mood for a revenge drama.
Maybe I'll watch Love Story in Havard. I heard the romance is very mature & the good kisses aren't cold fishtastic. I also want to watch Bara no nai Hanaya.
