I see you've completed Pieta. Definitely an 'art' film. I actually walked out of it when it showed at Venice, even though I'm a Kim Ki-duk fan. It was too wild & way out there and at the time there were better films, I felt, to see. Interestingly Kim won the Golden Lion for Pieta. I'll give it another chance sometime in the future. If you want to see a less gratuitously disturbing Kim film, see SSAW ... S like I've mentioned a thousand times. It's like a buddhist prayer ... peaceful, harmonious, life affirming.

Actually no, I don't watch a lot at all. I watch way more movies than series, whether Asian or Western. A lot of the dramas I mentioned, esp those on my all time favs list, are no longer airing & when they did air they didn't air at the same time. I drop Western series far more quickly than Asian series. If I watch the 1st ep & there isn't a strong persuasion to watch the 2nd, I drop.
You should definitely check out GoT & Spartacus! Some of the best shows I've seen in ages! GoT S1 starts out a bit slow bcuz there is A LOT of ground to cover so that the audience can understand who's who & what's what, but toward the end it gets epic. Spartacus is bloody & full of gore, but the human stories are deep & very touching. LOVE it.
I am NOT a fan of Friends! Haha ... never understood the hype around that show! But I am a fan of CSI! In particular CSI: Miami. CSI: NY is my least fav. You?

Nina, long time. How is it going? I didn't realize we had so many fav actors in common! I have all but Kaneshiro Takeshi (is he really Taiwanese ...???) on my list, although Jo In Sung is not on the public line-up.
And I see you've dropped City Hunter, a drama I'm planning to watch very soon & which seem to be a fav of many. What were your reasons for dropping, if you don't mind me asking? :)

Haha, your post made me smile. I don't know, Rita-ssi, boozies rarely ever get cured. So let's hope you don't come across a real stinker anytime soon for I fear you might pull another disappearing act on us! :)
Anyway, interesting line up! I have a slight prejudice against shows like LC due to bad personal experiences, but I'm keeping my eye on LC. It's not a big NO-NO. If I come across a drama with that theme & it's good I'll watch it. And a lot of people seem to be enjoying LC.
I have Switch Girl on my list. Normally you wouldn't catch me dead watching a show like this either, but it does sound hilarious hence the add. If you like it, I'm sure I will too!
Right now I'm about to start Love Shuffle. Chosen for me by the lovely folks who gather on the feeds! Then I'm looking at The Greatest Love & The World That They Live in. Ever seen any of these? Any good, esp the K-dramas?
Park Joon Geum is so typecast. She plays the evil mom/mom-in-law A LOT. But she's so darn good at it I guess she'll never go out of work. I hope she's a lot more mellow in real life or God bless the woman who marries any precious real life son of hers...

Hey chingu! Sorry for late reply. Work's been kicking my butt ever since I had to take 2 days off to recover from 1 of the meanest hangovers I've ever experienced! (Don't ask how it happened ...! lol)
Anyway, yeah, I haven't been watching much dramas lately. Mostly movies. I saw a weird, but sweet little love story called Oasis last night & despite certain reservations about the male lead (his character, I mean) I really liked it. It's about a guy who's always getting in trouble with the law, a social misfit basically, who falls in love with a severely disabled woman.
Otherwise, I'm still trying to decide what drama I want to watch next. Tomorrow is 17th May, remember that? :) So I have a nice little long w/end to look forward to & I'm planning to burn it watching drama! :-) But which one, I don't know yet. I think I'm finally going to give up the fight & drop Devil Beside You.

It's okay if we have different tastes! Variety is the spice of life! :-)
Some of my all time favourite Western TV series are:
The Wire
Prison Break
Friday Night Lights (I liked the first 2 seasons the best)
Treme (still early days, but loving it so far)
Game of Thrones
Spartacus (of the 4 seasons, S1 remains my fav, but I love the whole show!)
The Tudors
Notable mentions:
Scandal
One Tree Hill (seasons 1-3, 4-9 was mostly horrible)
Girlfriends
The Game
Sons of Anarchy (I've fallen waaay behind on this series, but I really enjoyed the eps that I've seen).
American Horror Story
New shows on my PTW list:
Hannibal
Bates Motel
What are some of your favs?
Yeah, I finished Oasis last night! It's hard to put my feelings about it into words, but it was a great movie! I know this movie would've never gotten made in the West. That's why I love Asian cinema. They keep things real.

Kim Ki-duk is an auteur. Of the 5 or so of his films that I've seen I'd say all were arthouse, and I suspect most of his other works are too.

Omo, I wrote it like it's a crime? You're either reading way too much into what I wrote or taking things way too seriously. My comment was not meant in a judgmental way in any way whatsoever. So girl, relax! :) Didn't you read hallyuholicmom's pedonoona article? We're all pedonoonas at some point or another. I have a massive crush on Seo In Guk & he's like 7 yrs younger than me. How about that? I wasn't saying anything bad about anyone who likes younger man/older woman dramas. What I said was that normally young guy/older lady dramas don't work for me personally, esp when the age gap is huge like in LC. This is mainly bcuz I'm prejudiced by too many bad examples of this relationship in real life so I tend to shy away from it in my entertainment. That said, I have watched & enjoyed many dramas with this combo, that's why I said I'd wait for the reviews b4 deciding to watch LC or not.
Well, darn, there goes City Hunter off my list! No kiss, pure diss!

Not sad yet, so far, but I can feel like it's heading in that direction.
I'm still watching it. I'm gonna finish watching later when I get home.
Oh I can't wait to watch Nine. It seems good. How is the romance in it? Any good kisses? :) You know I just had to ask ... lol
I don't trust the female lead. I saw her Unexpected You and I started out liking her, but by the end she annoyed the sh-- out of me. Anyway, I'm still gonna watch it in spite of her.
I did enjoy Coffee Prince, but I generally don't enjoy gender - benders, no. The secret gets drawn out too long in most dramas and the whole thing just end up frustrating me to no end. So I tend to avoid them. That's why I haven't added Sungkyunkwan Scandal to my list.
I really like that LMH missed Son Ye Jin's lips!! Perrrfectt ;)
That's only because you're jealous! :p

Action, action-comedy seem to be pretty big in Bollywood. I also like (romantic) drama, but I don't think they make the genre in Bollywood, or if they do, I probably won't enjoy it since I like real kisses & even a bit of skinskip. Even if there are the odd few kisses in Bollywood I don't imagine it'll happen very often, so action, action comedy may be my best choice. But that's why I ask you because you know Indian cinema better than I do so tell me the films YOU like, regardless of genre, & I'll check 'em out. That's what giving a recommendation is all about, bro! :)
By the way, how's GoT going for you? Enjoying S3? I haven't started watching it yet. Want to wait until it airs. How about Spartacus? Dude, if you don't watch that series, you're missing half your life! lol

I hear yah, mr. Knight.
I don't watch Bollywood that much ... and not as much as I used to before I caught the Asian bug, but I did like the films that I saw. The Devdas series of films are Bollywood favs of mine. Just love all the singing & dancing & the colourful costumes! I'd love to see more Bollywood films from different genres, though, so if you know of any good ones, fix a chingu up! :)
And don't worry, the dream will come true in your dreams. ;)
