By the way, I see you've put Saranghæ on hold. It's a drama I'm planning to watch someday. What do you think of it? Is it boring? Why did you put it on ice?

You seem to get sidetracked easily. :)
Anyway, it's available on all the regular streaming sites.
That they take a mature approach to the relationships may be true, but even without seeing Saranghæ at all I can tell that's where the similarities end. AGD is essentially a comedy romance, very silly & upbeat whilst Saranghæ is a dramatic romance. I suspect there'll be at least one cheating spouse & a dash (perhaps more) of melodrama. That said, the plot was what sucked me in too, but like I said the first ep was disappointing for me. Maybe I was too impatient bcuz most shows take time to pull an audience in. I'll look forward to hearing what you think.
I think I'm going to resume watching Salaryman after Devil Beside You, then I'm in the mood for a Japanese drama afterwards. Maybe Taisetsu na Koto wa Subete Kimi ga Oshiete Kureta.

Yeah, I read Winnie's review of Tonbi & it seems pretty profound. Will definitely bump it up on my PTW list.
I had a look at the Bokura ga ita movies ... I'm not a fan of youth/school dramas so I don't think I'll watch them. I haven't watched a Western movie in ages. No, wait, I recently saw Safe Haven & it was veeery predictable & flat. But it's a Nicholas Sparks (male romance novelist) movie so that's to be expected I guess. Saw Hunger Games pt 1, it was arite, but I'm not in any rush to see part 2. I want to watch Pain & Gain. It's based on real events that I've heard about on many true crime programmes so should be fun. Plus The Rock & Mark Wahlberg is in it, lifting weights ... man heaven! haha
Re the actors you don't like ... well, we like who like & dislike who we dislike, don't we? We all can't expect to like everything the same way. What do you think of Kim Na Heul?

I read the review again & I still think you did more than fine. Though your opinion is overwhelmingly positive, it isn't without reason. You explain well WHY the drama made you feel the way you did & this is something MOST people do not do when they write reviews. I get really annoyed at reviews that just scream how great or horrible something was but give NO reasoning behind such feelings. It doesn't leave a good impression of the writer on me...
Anyway, I noticed you've finally started watching Saranghæ. It's a drama I've been wanting to watch since I first joined MDL, but then I saw the first episode, couldn't finish it & it's been parked on my on-hold list since forever. If you get into it let me know if it's worth a watch. By the way, why did you decide to watch it now? I thought you were planning to watch something else. Just curious.

Oh plz, have you really ever read my reviews?
They are entirely subjective & often fraught with my emotional outbursts! lol So I'm not exactly the rational, objective critic as one might expect from a professional filmmaker.
Truth is when I'm watching shows for my own enjoyment I don't give a damn about the technicalities. It's my emotional connection to the story and or characters that counts. If a show is particularly well made, then I'll comment on that from a filmmaker's perspective, but otherwise no. So you're not alone in giving your subjective opinion. That's what we all do here on MDL when we write reviews.
I mostly write reviews for myself so that I can go back months or years later & recall what I loved or hated about a movie/drama. If they in addition help someone to decide on a show or not, it's a bonus & I'm happy.
Tonbi must have really touched you. Good for you!

Oh, I'm sorry to hear that you're sick! Drink lots of warm tea with lime juice & honey & just rest.
Listen, I thought your review was great! If I didn't already have Tonbi on my list I would have added it based on your enthusiasm that came very clearly through your words.
I have no idea what you're nervous about! You express your feelings way better than the vast majority of people who post reviews & you showed that you have the capacity to think critically about what you've seen ... not just OMG, this was GREEEEEAT! which is what most MDL reviews are like. So stop selling yourself short. I look forward to reading more from you!

Hehe, sounds like you're a happy drunk. I am too. :)
Apparently on Tuesday night when I got home I rang up my mom & had a deep philosophical heart to heart with her! ::shame::
I only remember bits and pieces. I'm sooo embarrassed!
I think this is the first time my mom ever heard me drunk & thankfully she took it all in stride. My BF, tho, is pissed off with me bcuz I went drinking without him ... & bcuz my drinking buddy was another guy! But it's not like it was planned or anything! I bumped into the guy on my way home & we were only going to have 1 beer & catch up since we haven't seen each other in ages.
Grrr ... aside from the dreadful hangover, see why I don't like getting drunk? I get in all kinds of trouble. LOL!
Re the drama, yeah, it was very popular when it aired so I imagine it must be good! Can't wait to meet Mr. Miura. Been hearing a lot of hoopla about him ...

Omg, you're brave! What if they find out? Won't they fire you, esp since the site is technically illegal? A couple years ago I downloaded a file sharing software on my company laptop & I got into huge trouble for it. Almost lost my job so be careful!
If it's out on Asiatorrents then it's probably a matter of time before it spreads to other sites so I'll just wait. Can't be bothered to nag people about invites right now! :)

I NEVER get drunk! Really!
I love to drink, but I always do so responsibly because I hate being hungover! I suffer from the worse hangovers & while I'm recovering I can't do anything except sip coca cola while I cower under the covers. This is a HUGE waste of time, hence the reason I always avoid drinking excessively. I'm not really sure why & how I allowed myself to get so wasted, but I did & it was a bitch the day afterwards. I'm finally starting to feel like myself again! :)
Anyway, we might still be able to watch the show together even though you've already started. I'll let you know for sure this evening if I'm starting it or not.

Hey, at some point or another we all end up being pedonoonas, even me who don't like flower boys & tend to go for the older guys! :)
Asiatorrents ... isn't that the site where you have to be invited to join? I'm not a member on there so it might be difficult for me. Know of any other place where I can get it?

I'm totally not convinced by Ha Ji Won's acting either & I've never understand the hype around Jang Geun Suk. To me he's unattractive & not that good of an actor, imho.

I've been hearing a lot of good stuff about The Chaser. It's on my list so I'll look forward to watching it one day soon.
Tonbi seems like a really good drama, everyone's been loving it. Might have to bump it up on the ptw list!
What movies have you seen lately? Any good ones? Last night I watched Why Did You Come To My House? Generally I don't like the female lead's acting style, but I went ahead and watched this because I liked the title (and she turned out to be not as bad as she was in other movies I've seen her in). I also started I'm a Cyborg, but That's Ok. I liked how it started - the opening sequences reminded me of One Flew Over the Coo-coo's Nest, which is one of my fav movies about mental patients. Can't wait to resume watching it later today.

Omo, that was fast! I don't think I can start it on such short notice! :( I have to work, esp since I've been home recovering from a really bad hangover the last two days (never, never let your friends convince you to impulse drink!). I'll see how my schedule looks this weekend. :)

He he, I think Ahmon is worst than Halu! To me Halu was good player & a good team captain who looked out for his players but in his personal life he had a lot issues that added layers to his character. Ahmon basically has NO flaws, he's perfect to a fault! All the other characters fall in his shadow. Halu was the lead character, it's his story, but he shared the limelight with Yamato & the rest. Ahmon doesn't.
Anyway, even though I don't agree 100% with your review for Padam Padam, I do think you made some good points about the fantasy bit & the story having too many twists & turns. I can concede to those, but I LOVED Jung Woo-sung in this role. To me he played the part perfectly given that he never really had a chance to have a real childhood.
Have a look at my review of the show here: http://mydramalist.com/korean-drama/2937/padam-padam/reviews. Scroll to the bottom.
