I'm watching Mike He for the first time in Devil Beside You & the jury's still out regarding his acting chops, but at least he's some major eye candy. I might give this drama go once it airs.

Well, not officially ... since I dropped it at episode 15. But I did catch a glimpse of it on you tube & yeah that's a pretty hot kiss. Seemed like an even hotter kiss than the apartment kiss. Clearly that wasn't just acting! Ha ha

I heard the actors became an item after the drama wrapped ... or at least the actress said she's willing to listen to the actor's sales pitch. Whatever it was, they make a cute pair. I'm not opposed to the idea of going back & watching episode 16 in a few years.

Ok, so the characters kissing in the gif is not the gumiho & her man? Oh, that's disappointing news ...
Gonna still watch it tho! :)

Otherwise have you seen anything good lately? Have you seen Love 911?

Honestly, I could have tolerated the cold weather (given that I'm from the state of NY) & the dull cultural offerings ... if the people were friendlier & more genuine as a whole. After all, it's the people who make the place. We do have a couple American friends we keep in touch with every once in awhile, but a lot of them have assimilated the culture & tend to stick to their own little cliques. So it's quite literally just me & BF most of the time. Good thing I like him & don't mind his company! :) I came at the end of 2001 so yeah you were here a good 2+ years while I was here! Sorry we missed each other! I'm in my 30s now. Weird to think I came here as a kid with plans to stay only 3 yrs max, but I end up staying 12 yrs & looking at another 3-5 at least. It's kind of a scary thought, staying so long in a place that doesn't quite rub you in all the right ways!

Aright, Missing You, sold! So is Gumiho. I just realized you have a gif of them kissing & hot damn ... that's one badass looking kiss! :)

So I was right then about Rooftop Prince. Ok, I won't watch it. QIHM was great for it's romance & that kiss in the apartment, wow! Buuuuut ... their constant separation frustrated me to the point where I dropped the drama. I don't know what I was expecting, but what we got wasn't it. Every time the characters were happy & together he'd zap back to the past & something would keep them a part. I was lead to believe the absence of this one cliche ... of all cliches in K-dramaland was what made the show worth watching so I went in with great expectation & got sorely disappointed by all the disappearing acts. To this day I'm still bitter just thinking about it. It's not so much the drama's fault as it is the fangirls who led me astray! :)

I do prefer happy endings more than sad endings, yes. It doesn't have so much to do with my favourite actor being killed off. I think life is already sad & difficult so why not entertain one's self with something more uplifting?

Everything doesn't always have to be hearts & roses of course, but rather than it pure gut-wrenching sadness, I can tolerate bittersweet endings in which no one dies or will die. The characters can separate & I'll feel a little melancholic about that, but if one or both of them end up dead or dying... that's a big no, no for me. That has the potential to depress me & who likes being depressed? Ha ha

Right now I'm watching 2 Taiwanese dramas: Devil Beside Me & It Started with a Kiss. I've seen more episodes of Devil & the more I see the more it grows on me even though I don't particularly care for the manga-ish feel to it. Have you seen it?

Hey, when it comes to Asian dramas sometimes just the promise of good kisses is incentive enough to watch! Ha ha

I've kind of been unsure of Missing You because I've heard it's a crazy melodrama that bring out the water works quite spectacularly. But you seem to like it & if I remember correctly you don't like sad/sad ending dramas, do you?

I have not seen My GF is Gumiho. I've heard pretty mixed reviews about it. It being a Hong sisters drama, it's bound to drag in parts I assume, so I've been hesitant to give it a chance. What's your take? It's on your front page so I guess you must have liked it? And are there any good kisses in it?

Haven't seen Rooftop Prince & don't plan to although it seems quite funny. I hear it has quite a sad ending. I don't like those. :(

I'm totally with you on the tragic endings. Hate 'em. After watching Hwang Jin Yi the other day I just bawled. But not every historical is a tragedy. I've watched a few that were pretty good. For eg, Chunhyang, the one I mentioned. Has a very sweet love story at its core (so not a load of politics) & a very happy ending. Check out my review of it to get a better grasp of what to expect. Since they're not your favs I won't recommend others for now, but definitely give Chunhyang a chance if you want to challenge your own bias against the genre! :)

I'm pretty bad with names too, but I tend to remember faces. A lot of time I'll see faces that I know, but I can't remember their names & or where I know them from. But I haven't come across that many Asian shows where I can't remember who is who. Recently this has only happened to me with US historical/fantasy drama, Game of Thrones.

I have The Princess' Man on my list to watch. That drama seems to be very polarising. People either love it or hate it. What's your opinion so far? And why did you start a historical drama if you don't like historicals? :)

I love sæguks because they give such a fascinating view into a (historical) culture that's completely foreign to me. The settings, the customs, the cultural etiquette ... I love it all. I saw Legendary Courtesan Hwang Jin Yi the other day & the sceneries were all breathtaking - too bad that film ended very, very sadly. Another of my favourite is Chunhyang. It ended on a much more uplifting note! I'd definitely recommend that one to you should the mood strike you one day. Also if done well the political intrigue that's often a big part of these historicals can be quite interesting too.

On my end, I'm still making my way through Devil Beside Me!

Haha ... I shall look forward to reading that article!

Re the no ratings thing ... if you look at your Completed List, you have a number of movies/series with 0 rating. I was just wondering what's that all about! :)

Hey, I loved it! I totally agree, it was very sweet. I wish Korea would make more dramedies (like this one) or romantic drama films. Too often when they do make them they end on an unhappy note. Anyway, I was happy with Love 911. I so wanted more kisses and love scenes, but ah well ... this is a Korean production after all. We're lucky to have gotten what we got! he he. I loved the couple, they were so darn cute together & their chemistry was off the charts! Definitely a Go Soo fan now. Overall I think they could have been a little more creative with the story, but all in all I'm satisfied. Glad we had a happy ending for everyone. Movies like these don't often end well in Korean cinema!

Thanks a lot for your opinion! I haven't seen anything with Jiro Wang. If I do watch It Started with a Kiss, it would only be my 3rd Taiwanese drama. I think I might go with your recommendation and watch only They Kiss Again. Hopefully I won't lose too much of the story by not watching the prequel.

What else are you watching, any standouts?

I am in contact with a few, but not very many. Mostly it's just me & BF. 12 yrs, yeah, I can't believe it myself. The plan was only 3 yrs, but life's busy happenin' while you're making plans! While I don't care so much for everyday life in Norway (boring culture, weird, unfriendly people, cold climate) I don't mind living in Europe. A 12+ hr flight in either direction takes you to the States or Thailand which is great. Not to mention weekend trips to London, Paris or Rome in under 2hrs. That's what I love about being here. We visit home about every other year & our families come for visits in between.

We'll definitely return to the States at some point. I made it clear to bf, I do not want to have my children in Norway! :-)

When were you here & when did you leave? It would have been so great to have another drama addict nearby! No one in my circle watches Asian cinema...

Wow, was just out in Askim the other day! Really small place. Can't live anywhere else except Oslo. I have to live someplace that's a bit more diverse than your average Norwegian small town otherwise I'd go crazy. Norwegians are strange fruit. Been living here close to 12 yrs & I still experience culture shock on a daily basis. They have a really backward approach to pretty much everything that comes as second nature to us back in the States. So to answer your question, no, I don't really like it here, but I press on bcuz of BF. He has a really gr8 job in the oil industry which provides a good life for us. I also have a few more options here to pursue my film career (I'm producer by profession). We do not plan on growing old here though, no way! :)
I'm always a bit surprised that when I hear about abusive Nordmenn bcuz they come across as such neutered puppies to me. Good you got out!

Have seen Reply 1997 & I loved it! Yoon Jæ was so HAAAWT, especially when he talked in his Busan accent ... pretty much melted when he said 'wuh' instead of 'way' as they say in Seoul. I just LOOOOVE him! He's sexy on legs, definitely turned me into a certified pedonoona! :-)

QIM, yeah, this one fell victim to fangirl hype from where I sat. They had me convinced this was unlike ANY K-romance drama I will see. EVVVVERRR. I went in with great expectation & needless to say was hugely disappointed. I did watch up to ep 15 tho, so I might go back & watch the last ep 1 day when I'm feeling less bitter! haha

Thanks for mentioning I Need Romance & FB Next Door. I took them off my list a few weeks ago. Don't like Sex & the City type shows. In fact, didn't like S&tC; at all so go figure. The flower boy series never appealed to me, but I will definitely check out Green Rose! Thx! :)

No I haven't seen it yet, but now that I know it's (somewhat) happy ending, I'll push it up in the queue! Thx! :-)

And yeah, please do! Especially if they're Japanese. Cheers! :)

Really? What dramas are those? Please tell me bcuz I can't get enough of dramas where every aspect of the romance is the real deal. If they're finally getting the hint in Korea then I'm glad bcuz it ruins the story for me too when the physicality between the characters seem inauthentic and forced. That's why I was excited to watch Love Story in Havard. I'm disappointed to hear what happened. Now I'm not so sure I'm in a rush to watch it. I've seen male leads raise their hand threateningly to the heroine, but they never actually hit her. Just that gesture alone, though, tends to irritate me bcuz I feel 1 day he won't be able to restrain himself!

As for recs, I watch a lot more movies than dramas. I see you're the opposite! That's great! Now you can recommend me good dramas & I can recommend you good movies! First thing's first, watch Always. I didn't see it on your list. It's amazing!
