While I agree with you that the sex scenes in this movie were not the best (too rehearsed and mechanical) and revealed nothing about the characters or their journey/motivations, there is nothing wrong with SSH deciding to do a movie with sexual content. He's a grown man. I'm pretty sure he's having sex. Sex is a part of life. Nothing wrong with it, nothing 'dirty' about it. If it wasn't for sex you wouldn't be here. If you want so-called 'clean' movies, don't watch movies with sex in them if they offend you so much. You clearly don't like sex in movies, yet I see you complaining on every movie page about its sexual content. Why? Why are you watching these movies if they offend you. Just don't watch! The sex scenes in this movie were very mechanical, rehearsed and boring. You didn't feel the passion or even the love between the characters. It's mostly because neither of the leading actors are strong enough in their craft, to bring the characters to life. The female lead might as well have been a dead body for incredible lack of energy and spark she brought to the role. SSH oppa can act well under the right circumstances, but he needs a good co-star to enhance his own performance. If he acts against poor actors, then his own performance will also be poor. I think the actress who played the wife should have been the lead. The whole dynamic of the movie would have changed and I'm sure the sex scenes would have been more charged with the raw emotions of the characters.
If you like good sex scenes Scarlet Innocence is better. The sex scenes actually told you something about the conflicting nature of the characters and were extremely passionate, hot and filled with the lust the characters felt.

Lots of prudish people on MDL. They complain at the mere mention of sex and are utterly scandalized by the act itself. But I'm sure many of them have had sex or one day will. We need sex for procreation, pleasure and bonding with the one we love. I don't know why everyone thinks that's so wrong. Anyway, I know it's a cultural thing at the end of the day, but I gotta shake my head, not to mention LMAO, at all the rage that ensues any time there's sex in a movie.
The film is most suitable for those who appreciate cinema as as artform. It won best direction at last year's Cannes Film Festival and watching the movie you can definitely see way the prize is well-deserved. This was masterfully directed and photographed. Every frame is extremely well-designed and balanced with incredible precision. In a nutshell, cinematic eye candy. This would be the only reason to see this picture, if you're interested in film as a discipline and want to see the masterful crafting of scenes and settings.
If you watch it to be entertained the average viewer might end up being bored and disappointed because the script is rather thin and somewhat unexciting for a martial arts movie about a deadly assassin. Cheng Chan was all kinds of smexy and beautiful, though, so if you're a fan of him, just looking at him might be worth it. For me this was 8/10 - for the amazing direction & cinematography only. With a better script, it would have definitely gotten a 10.

Thankfully, I'm often spared the absurdity of the amnesia plot because I tend to avoid the kind of dramas they're normally used in. But not always, however, and those times I have seen it were always WTF moments for me. Like the annoying love triangle, I wish for the amnesia trope to die a very slow death, but who I am kidding? This is dramaland, after all. Where common sense and logic do not reign supreme. lol
