Was just going through this site and realized The Long Ballad is rated 8.7 but this drama is 8.3. I watched both…
The ratings for Cdramas on MDL have become a bit unreliable of recent. It sometimes relies on the popularity of artists. I guess it has to do with age groups. A more mature audience might measure a drama against really high standards.
Can someone tell me below on spoiler, if the ending was satisfying or was it a last minute happy ending?
The ending is satisfying, but given the logic of the entire plot is weak, you might find it unnecessary. Honestly the ending upped the quality of the entire drama. Would you want to know if was a satisfying happy ending or a satisfying sad ending or a satisfying open ending.
abit anxious about yang mi since her more recent dramas aren't very good, but Bai Yu has a pretty good record…
I'm optimistic about the fact that the director is not Jin Sha who has been at the helm of Yang Mi's dramas in recent years. The same for She and her perfect husband.
I'm a bit concerned about censorship because this drama is going to be broadcast simultaneously online and on tv. So some adjustments might have to be made
No no no no no no noooooo I hope rumours of yang mi dumping this project are true. I want to see yang mi in costume but for a drama more befitting of her status, please drop this.
Lin Yu Fen wasn't the main director for this drama. I wasn't very impressed with this drama either, I only stayed…
I never implied or intended to imply that all criticisms are a result of hate. I was trying to point out that the drama team's choices o marketing should not be solely linked to Yang Mi, she's not stupid enough to make such bold declarations of her acting prowess. I might have confused you with too many details in between. However the involvement of haters in all matters concerning YM is not an exaggeration I'm speaking based on my own observations. lf you have an issue with the dubbing that's your own POV, many people have complained about it too.

Yang Mi should not be connected to the drama team's marketing choices. If they decided to use Yang Mi's dubbing as a marketing point, I don't see how that translates to her boasting about using her own voice. She has been dubbing herself in movies if she's decided to start working on her dubbing in dramas I don't see the problem. And you should know Chinese fan culture is very toxic, people criticizing and bashing on Yang Mi isn't necessarily constructive and has more to do with bias. Her flaws are usually exxagerated or taken out of context, so I don't think the cyber bullying is justified.
Which political Cdramas has GOT reference? And may I ask how they put the reference in the drama?
I don't know about the plot but while rewatching the trailer I couldn't help noticing the talking tree with red leaves Wu Jin Yan was tied to, it sort of put everything in perspective. Even though it may turn out to be different from what I'm imagining. The woman ascending with a pleated trail over one shoulder, the one dragon that looks more western than the mythical Chinese dragon I'm familiar with, etc. Another drama I noticed was novoland: eagle flag, I brought it up once and heard that the source work was published before the one for GOT, but I feel since GOT created such a wave some details shouldn't have clashed, it looks so obvious and questions the originality. The ML of the drama has serious Jon Snow vibes, it would have been fine if they had stopped there but they just had to kill him off the same way and bring him back to life. There are other such scenarios but one that stuck was one of the battle scenes where they were trapped in a similar encirclement as in GOT during Jon Snow's battle with that Bolton boy, then to drive it home they both had a giant/supersized person die trying to break out. Lol you can throw in as much detail as you want the important thing is I shouldn't get the feeling I'm watching a poorly written version of a megahit
I am quite disappointed with this drama actually and some more directed by Lin Yu Fen... there are multiple problems…
Lin Yu Fen wasn't the main director for this drama. I wasn't very impressed with this drama either, I only stayed for YM×WC and Zhou Ying×Zhe Liu. I haven't read the source work but from what I've heard it was underserved. Having more foundation in Korean sageuk than Chinese historicals I'm not picky with styling and appreciate more when they go out of their way. As for acting I agree with you on Xu Kai Cheng he was a bit uncomfortable to watch as for Yang Mi using the same acting style I disagree. The girl that sparred with Ethan Ruan in a bed chamber is not the girl that fiercely pursues love here. , Neither are these two the proud and cold Bai Qian. But all these characters bear 70% similarity. You might have noticed that there isn't much character range for women in the costume drama market between something like Bai Lu in the Legends and Crystal Yuan in Love and redemption. For an actress of Yang Mi's status this market isn't a place to prove acting range it's a place to make money and increase popularity. So when she chooses these scripts she follows the trend like everyone else. Her styling team didn't help either, the costumes bear too much resemblance to those previous roles.
Seriously Bang Won all sweaty in bed asking "is there no seat for me in the new country" is cracking me up. I expected there would be a conflict of interests along the way and he wasn't too clear on what he really wanted from all this from the beginning.
