Title Dating in the Kitchen Spoiler
This is an embarrassment to all the the romcom dramas ever produced in this planet. Why? First off there's nothing funny about the comedy and there's zero chemistry for the romance. Seriously when is dramaland going to learn that kissing and bed scenes don't create chemistry but enhances it. My secret romance was rated lower than this and yet it's a gazillion times better. What's wrong with the writers these days, I'm pretty sure I've watched a drama with the exact same plot, it's so cliche and underwhelming.
ML is rich and handsome with daddy and mummy issues, FL is somehow better than her superiors in workplace (with zero professional experience or education) so gets promoted above all of them at a prestigious hotel. And so since the writer has killed the FL's career storyline so underwhelmingly and there's already so much boring sappy romance, let's fill the remaining 10 episodes or so with ML's immature daddy grudges that no one gives a hoot about.
As for the acting I can't call Zhao lusi a good or bad actress since this is the the first drama I've seen her in. For the first few episodes I might have caught her struggling with her lines or maybe that's how she talks, at least she was a bit natural. The ML actor didn't leave an impression on me. Overall this is a trashy 3.0

I don't hate ZLS but i have to agree with you. I only wasted time with her dramas and dropped them immediately…
Well I've come to learn that popular opinion doesn't count for much in c-ent. While 40 percent are sincere in criticism and appreciation, the remaining are the opinions of people with strong and blind biases; misleading media play and well, just plain haters. Thankfully we both have our eyes and I believe we are both able to make sound judgements without external influence and brain washing. If you think ZLY and YZ are the better ones that's your opinion.

When I'm talking about leaving your comfort zone I'm not only talking about playing unfamiliar roles but doing it convincingly. Yang Zi's idol dramas have been successful but if let me say her characters from ashes of love, destiny of white snake and ode to joy walk up to you will you be able to differentiate ? ZLY almost has that same problem that's why story of minglan was a struggle for her as story of xingfu is also going to be. But be serious now can you imagine Yang Zi playing the role of minglan or even the role of Xing er in princess agents. Can she play the role of si yin/Susu/Bai qian and not irritate the audience to no end?( You might say she can but those characters were not candy, for si yin you can see obvious character development, Susu is a kind of innocent that cannot just be played as childish, Bai Qian is elegance and pride without arrogance). That's what you call an acting range and yang Zi's very limited. Yes, Yang Zi can perform an emotional scene that can bring the waterworks and so can those two even if you find them bland. Bringing an individual character to live is most important when you do that the audience can catch the emotions. There are also actors in her age group that are better rounded and Yang Zi knows that. She doesn't claim to be the best, she will work hard and when it's time to receive such appreciation she will along with all the other promising actresses.

Okk... seriously Zhao lusi's dramas are the type I like to avoid, the only thing I've seen her in is dating in the kitchen and she's ok, if you think she can portray more depth then I can take that since it's popular opinion, she does seem natural and enjoyable to watch. BUT, come on, comparing Yang mi to Yang zi is a big stretch. I don't know how you judge acting abilities but acting really should be most importantly how far you leave your comfort zone and still look convincing and Yang zi is still reeeeaaaally comfortable. Also I don't know who Li Gengxi is but if she only has three works out then he/she can't beat that wealth of experience in the field. Yes, Zhao Lusi is promising but I know a ton of actresses in the next generation that can beat her under the carpet, so competing with ZLY and YM...

Person Yang Mi Spoiler
Rewatching ten miles of peach blossoms and I have to say, Yang mi is not getting enough credit for her performance here.
Out of the few Chinese actresses I've seen, she seems to be the only one who breathes new life into each of her roles and not just recycling former ones. When she's onscreen her eyes are like windows into the mind of the character and you don't have to be told in passing by other characters what she feels. She makes you believe in the character's relationships and friendships and in doing so makes supporting characters that you wouldn't care for otherwise more relevant. Also she doesn't try extremely hard to make the audience believe in her emotions (like most actors like to do, trying hard to portray emotions above them and most of the time falling on a bad note), a simple dead look, a catch in her voice or an unexpected teardrop together with her big expressive eyes speaks volumes.
I think my favourite performance from her is Susu, though the character makes me want to bang my head against the wall. For the first time, the picture of innocence isn't a noisy, irritating spoilt brat, that I'm screaming at to grow up. I actually slowed down to appreciate this character and wasn't in a hurry to see her go (well not too much of a hurry).

Review Ashes of Love Spoiler
I continued watching this bcos it was funny and at least the leads had enough chemistry to pass for friendship, but as time passed I found myself disliking the leads and enjoying their misery (which isn't a good sign). So I was happy when Jin mi died wished it had just ended there. The big bucks aside I don't see how anyone should compare this to TMOPB, I didn't enjoy this love story and I didn't want them to see them together.
As for acting, I've only seen Yang Zi in ode to joy and this one, she's an ok actress and her emotional scenes can lead me to tears but I wish she would stop taking comical roles so she can prove her range, cos wherever I see her she seems like the same character in a different outfit. As for Deng Lun he didn't leave an impression on me and I don't mind not seeing him again on my screen. Overall it's watchable but far from the best
On Legend of Fu Yao Nov 22, 2020
To that poor person that's going to miss this awesome drama bcos of bad reviews and comments, just give this a try and don't listen too seriously to popular opinion. This is probably one of the best xianxia romance dramas I've seen. It's a perfect blend of romance and politics and it was really an adventure. I think what I love most was how the FL wasn't just going on her on her own momentum and stiffling all the side characters to death. There was great chemistry not just btwn the main cast but also the supporting cast, really sweet.

Lastly, Yang Mi pretending to be a man and being the Emperor's guard, has she not played a role exactly like that…
In my opinion I don't think similar looking situations count for similar roles/characters. Besides the role in question was a side plot involving espionage, it wasn't the character she portrayed throughout the drama. There are several dramas with a subplot of a woman cross dressing and assisting male characters. So let's blame the producers and script writers for their lack of creativity and their recycled productions.

Cross dressing again???....is Yang Mi not already tired of doing that again and again?? Anyway, let's wait and…
Cross dressing has been a trend in Korean and Chinese dramas for a long time especially in Chinese wuxia/xianxia. Plus Yang mi is not generally known for cross dressing roles, there are actresses that have taken up this same role more times. I don't see how thats an issue.

It's very good to see people devoted to the work of maintaining fairness and protecting other people's interests. Pls remember to address this issue as fervently for princess agents as it's also a plagiarized work. Otherwise it would seem as though your interests are biased against a particular group of people. Thanks.

Lol, cannot agree more. After my first Chinese dramas the princess weiyoung, TMOPB and legend of fuyao, princess agents and story of minglan, I had my opinions on the acting skills of these actresses and wanted to run it by fellow drama watchers and was stunned by their comparisons of these actresses with ZLY all the way up and Tang Yan and YM way down. Soon it became obvious how these things work. It's sad that you can't get honest opinions without bias, I don't think I see stuff like this in k-ent.
On The Story of Xing Fu Nov 13, 2020
I never watched the original version so I don't know what I'm supposed to be expecting. I'm just hoping that everyone falls into their roles quickly. Since they're veterans I doubt they'll give a horrible performance.

I think so too, doesn't help that Xu Kai is very baby face. But I like the chemistry between YM and Vin Zhang…
Yes I have faith in Yang mi for the chemistry department and falling into character
