I loved this very much. Though its just an hour special, the storytelling was so amazing. They wrapped up the story without leaving out anything. I loved the way they incorporated the social message regarding oceans within the plot. The cast were all good, I feel Shono looks like Surprise from SCOY in some angles. Also the clever product placement of shampoo...Thai directors should learn how to promote their sponsors in a subtle manner from Japanese shows. Though there was no romance in general, I still loved it. I loved the grandma when she came out suddenly...she rocked. And also the MC, he genuinely did his job well.
Everything was good. But that ending just killed me....just why? I don't know whether I should be happy about it or sad about it. But I can relate to Tae Joo. I have lucid dreams and I feel much alive in my dreams than in real life. Like I feel the happiness when I dream. I would exchange my real life to an imaginary world anytime. In real life, I am lost, hopeless and empty.
It was just average, but they gave closure to Mook and Vie's relationship which was missing in the main show. Then there were Mut and Rak in their honeymoon phase. BTW, I need help. The background music during the NC scene of Mut and Rak at 1:0:57 - please I need that music, help me!
I agree with most of the comments, this was indeed PrapaiSky 2.0. The only difference is that the main leads have exchanged their economic status - Fort's character Mut is a poor islander while Peat's character Rak is a rich author. Because of the similarities with their previous roles, their acting is almost same as it was in LITA. But, Fort was more cuter and chill here than he was in LITA though Peat was the same - sassy and traumatized like Sky. The GL pair was boring, both the lead actresses seemed to overact. And Mook's character was so stupid, silly and annoying. And they left us hanging about their relationship - maybe its explained in the special episode, I need to check out. I just don't understand why almost all MAME creations have trauma as the backdrop. Its the same "one guy has trauma, another guy comes and cures the trauma and then they fall in love". Anyways, Nina's character Meena was the silver lining in this show. Can't believe she's just 10. She is more wiser and mature than me when I was her age. Her acting is impeccable although she appeared only when the show was nearing an end, the GL pair should take classes from her. I can see that she would become one of the best actresses in future, if she ever makes it as a career. What made the show beautiful is the view of seaside. It was so peaceful and serene to watch but then half of the series is only based on the seaside, the rest is spent in the city. Another aspect I liked is the end credits - each episode has Rak and Mut exploring the island. Though in one episode, we see Mook and Vie spending time together on the island - it was a nice touch. Overall: 7.5/10. Because of Meena.
I am Hindu and I would like to add that Garuda is Lord Vishnu's mount or vehicle.
A little background about 'the nectar of the gods' which is called Amruta(literally meaning 'immortality'). There was a respectable sage called Durvasa. He was short-tempered and often cursed anyone who crosses him. He once cursed the gods and soon the gods were losing control of their divine powers. To gain back their powers they need Amruta, which could be obtained only by Samudra Manthana(Churning of the Ocean). It wasn't an easy task. Mountain Mandara was uprooted and put on the ocean to use it as a churning rod. The snake on Lord Shivas' neck, Vasuki, was used as the rope to churn the ocean. And Lord Vishnu took Kurma(tortoise) avatar to support the mountain on his back. Also, the gods requested asuras(the demons or anti-gods) to help them with the task. The asuras were greedy and wanted the Amruta all for themselves. But, Vishnu took the female avatar of Mohini and enchanted by her beauty, the asuras gave up their Amruta. Though one asura disguised himself as gods, drank some of the Amruta but Vishnu caught him red-handed and cut of his head. Thus the asura's head became Rahu and his body became Ketu, the deities responsible for solar and lunar eclipses respectively. The Churning of the Ocean also gave other gifts apart from Amruta - Kamadhenu(a divine cow which grants wishes), Kalpavriksha(a wish-granting tree), Airavata(Lord Indra's elephant vehicle) and so on.
In all, Lord Vishnu has ten avatars, the last one being the Kalki avatar which is the only remaining avatar. Kalki avatar will bring the destruction of the world.
on episode 4 : there are some disgusting conversation going on. They thought it would sound funny.. lmao it's…
I totally agree with you. That was so cringey. But they made it look like it was funny and it is definitely not. And the GL couple are over-acting. I am so annoyed by them.
I think why they didn’t get a happy ending was because I don’t think he was in love with him. from Wht I remember…
If I am not wrong, he was in love with the chef but he was in denial. That's why he married and had kid and tried to live a happy life. But, he was still friends with the chef and also knew the chef's feelings hadn't changed. If he really had moved on, he wouldn't have let the chef back into his life again. Now, he is separated from his wife and kid and the chef had gone. No one was happy in the end.
I am rewatching this before I head to Love Sea. Laughed at Rain's kidnapped pic once again. And saw the scene on loop where Rain admits he is dating Payu with his friends and our busy Sky is eating his food with a smile. And even after everything, I am still Team PrapaiSky. I would love PrapaiSky forever. They have my whole heart. And every time Sky cries, I feel so sad. But when Prapai cries, I feel so much emotions. I can feel my heart break into million pieces seeing Prapai cry. That phone call scene followed by the diary scene is one of my best scenes of the show. Only Prapai can be angry and hot at the same time. Fort was incredible as Prapai. I had never been intrigued by a character so much. Now that I had rewatched the show, I could analyze more details. Rain always was frank about his life and issues with his friends, to the extent that he would even repeat his narrations. He focused more on his life rather than others. He was quick to judge people and hurt others with his words(referring to his behavior with Som). Not only was he stupid and annoying, but he also whined over small matters. And Sky was a stark contrast compared to him. Sky was much more mature and understanding. He was always helping Rain with his problems and could perceive when his friends are upset or tired. He always kept his issues to himself because he doesn't want to burden or worry anyone. Though he was tired and ill, he still stayed up all night to complete his assignments and took care of the orientation program of the juniors. He desperately needed help with his trauma but he told no one about it and suffered everything all alone. Sometimes, I wondered how Rain and Sky even became friends in the first place.
The story was all good, but the execution and storytelling wasn't appealing. And there were major plotholes too. Like the man who shot arrow at Dongbaek seemed to be Denis, and since Qihong was also in the past...but I don't know what role Denis plays in the romance of the leads. He is one of the super-annoying idols and he has a grudge over the Director and there was no proper explanation. The Director can kick him away but he agrees to the whims and fancies of that spoiled brat.
When I was a kid, this movie used to air on local TV channels dubbed in my own language. At that time, no one had any idea this was a Thai movie. Any East-Asian movie was considered a Chinese movie. It was scary at that time, but today I rewatched it...it wasn't so scary. Remember the movie was released almost a decade and a half ago, so the movie does has bad CGI. In fact, the movie would like it was shot in 90's era. The dialogues are somewhat lame and there are forced-funny scenes. But, I liked the concept and the characters Toh and Ratri. In my language, 'ratri' means night. Anyways, rewatching this brought back old memories. 7/10 from me.
No, I don't get the hate. Actually, this was pretty entertaining. Nonsensical yes but entertaining. I usually check for tags, especially when its a BL or a bromance or a LGBT show, so this wasn't tagged "BL" or "bromance" so I was damn sure there would be no ships to sail. The series did talk about LGBT topics related to the story of the side characters. And one of the actors kissed the other mains...but that was all drunken and awkward kisses...and that was the only BL thingy in the entire series. The show has excessive drinking as the title suggests, but I wasn't much bothered by that as it was a part of the story. The only thing that triggered me was the Korean spoken by the mains. They sounded all cringey while talking Korean...even I can speak better Korean than them just by watching K-Dramas. Only Earth's Korean was somewhat understandable...and he does have some Korean features in his face, according to me. Anyways, don't watch this if you are only for the BL content, because there's none.
