On The Eighth Sense May 1, 2024
Now that I watched this masterpiece several times(I have lost count), I have more deeper understanding of the story. T8S is in a league on its own - you can't compare it with any other BLs.
First, both Ji Hyun and Jae Won were attracted to each other right from the moment they met. It was evident - their body language said it all. It was love at first sight. I am not much of a believer of love at first sight. I always thought one might get attracted to someone and they might label that attraction as love. But this drama proved that could happen. The Eight Sense is all about following your guts. Your subconscious mind knows what it wants more than anyone else around you, even including yourself. Ji Hyun and Jae Won acted upon their instincts. They didn't say 'I had always liked girls' or 'I don't like others. I only like you' or 'How can I like a guy?' or 'This is wrong. How will people judge us?'. They only cared about each other's feelings. They were true to their emotions and didn't disregard them. They never doubted why they were having such feelings. In fact, they never confessed love to each other - they both knew they were in love and started dating.
Unlike other dramas, there was no dramatic scene to make them fall in love - like clumsily falling in the arms, one main lead doing something that impresses the other, etc. They met, they tried to avoid(ep1 Ji Hyun goes to his dorm even after seeing Jae Won is having a hangover; Jae Won avoiding Ji Hyun after the incident), they tried to approach(Jae Won approaches Ji Hyun with an excuse of an lighter when he had one; Ji Hyun joins surf club because Jae Won was there), they became intimate, they got separated but then their hearts couldn't bear it and they end up together.
In most BLs, the main obstacles would be homophobic family and friends, society judgement and pressure, ex returning suddenly to reunite with one of the guys or one of them already being in a relationship. But, internal trauma becomes the backdrop in this drama. The fear of losing another loved one haunts Jae Won and he tries his best to let go off his feelings for Ji Hyun, but couldn't. They didn't 'Fight the world to be together' instead they chose to 'Be together and fight the world'.
Ji Hyun being an introvert was courageous than Jae Won when it came to love. He did things that he usually wouldn't do - he joined surf club, he went with Jae Won to the beach not knowing any details, he put Eun Ji in her place. He was determined to win Jae Won back. After watching this drama, I have started believing in my guts more. I think all we have to do is trust that inner voice and believe that it will lead to the right path. Be bold and listen to your heart. No matter how you are treated badly by people for your guts and decisions, trust that you are doing the right thing.
I know many would be annoyed by Eun Ji and Tae Hyung. But, don't we all have one or two people who annoy us in our lives? Don't we have people who are ready to laugh and mock when we fall down? Don't we have people who don't regard our own happiness? So, don't drop or avoid this drama because you don't like the side characters. At least the couple has got Ae Ri, Yoon Won and Joon Pyo who didn't judge their love.
The song choices Ben Goldstein's I Can't Lose It All and Conan Gray's The Story - they were just perfect choices for the couple. I hope we all get a love as pure and magical as Jae Won and Ji Hyun's. I don't get why the ratings are dropping for this masterpiece. Why nowadays people aren't appreciating good stuff?

I don't get why the rating is dropping day by day. For me, LT has my whole heart.

I started watching this without much expectations, but then I fell in love with it. Daou and Offroad might be rookie actors, but they played their roles perfectly. Even their kisses and intimate scenes were realistic. I love how they cast Daou who has Chinese origins to portray Yang. Offroad is such a cutie-pie. Sam who played as Odo was such an interesting character and I wish Sam gets more roles. I was impressed by Ngern...it was such a long time after I seen him. Phojai character was best - he always helped and worried about his brother. I really loved the show.

I added this to my watchlist five years ago and forgot about it. At that time, the rating was around 8. Recently, I came across several Myung Soo clips on IG and decided to watch it just for the sake of seeing my cute PHS. Didn't really like any of the main characters and I didn't find myself rooting for the main couple.
I hated Eun Sang because she was as cruel as her sister to leave her helpless mom alone and go to America. And I also felt like she was emphasizing now and then how poor and miserable her life is. Kim Tan and Young Do were both scary - one kept pursuing the girl even though that he is making her life hard and one downright bullied her because he liked her! The only people I liked - Kim Tan and Eun Sang's mom, the lovebirds Bo Na and Chan Young, Myung Soo and Hyo Shin.
At first, I thought Bo Na was one rude and obsessive gf. But when I realized Chan Young liked her and found her jealousy cute, I was drawn to this pair. Hyo Shin was a sweetheart, but Rachel was such a pathetic b*tch. The ending kinda fell flat for me - I thought that there will be a serious Won and Tan fighting for the crown, but no - Tan only fought for his love. Even the romance was mediocre. No justice to the title.
Tan mentioned that he was the one started the bullying and Young Do followed. I was hoping for an explanation how two middle school kids became bullies. But that was not explained, they only explained the friends falling out. And why show Chan Young's dad's affair with Rachel's mom when there is no future for their relationship? Completely unnecessary.
Till 15 episode, I watched in 1.5x and only after that things became little interesting but finale was rushed. They chose the right cast for Won and Tan because they really could pass as siblings. Overall: 7/10
On Accidentally in Love Apr 26, 2024
Watched it for the third time. And I still love every moment of it. Why do all males who dress up as females look so pretty? And this might be the only show where a girl keeps her ugly appearance(not that she was uglier than me) unlike rather than transform into a pretty woman in the end. Si Tu Feng fell in love with her tomboy appearance and she maintained it till the end. The ending scene where they both miss out on each other as Qingqing goes to find Si Tu Feng and vice versa...it still makes me cry. I don't know why...this used to have a rating above 8, now it has dropped - maybe people find this show cringey today but I still find it as a lovely story.

Title Tokyo in April Is... Spoiler
Japanese BLs always hit different. I am so much deeply moved by their love. Even at the young age, Ren took all the blame to protect Kazuma. It is so horrifying that how he was abandoned by his family and sent to a place where he doesn't know anybody and he can't speak the language. It must have been so hard for him. And Kazuma, the moment he wakes up from his illness, he wants to know where is Ren. If not for the both families, they could have talked it out. Ren's life had been so dark. The actors and even the child actors did their roles so well. Such a good BL.

Title Tokyo in April Is... Spoiler
Hello all, I have a few questions. Can anybody clarify if you have read the manga and understood the story? Thanks in advance.
1. Didn't Kazuma like Ren when they were teenagers? In the drama, young Kazuma expected to see the fireworks alone with young Ren and even during the fireworks, he really looked like he liked Ren. Then why didn't he admit to Ren he's gay or bi or pan or that he liked Ren? Ok, when he was 15, it would have been hard to figure out but at least now he was of age to know his sexual preferences.
2. What Hide knew about Ren and Kazuma? What happened that he was so much in tears? He said there were rumors...but there was no clear explanation of them.
3. What was the wristband for? What was the wish Ren had - I guessed it to be wishing for Kazuma to be healthy and happy.
4. In manga, did Ren reunite with his family? How was his life in France - like was he bullied in school or something? Because Ren avoided the question.
5. As per manga, how did Ren suffer after he blamed himself for everything? Is it worse than the drama and if so, what happened?
6. In the manga, after being separated, what did Kazuma do to find Ren? How he came to Tokyo and how he immediately recognized Ren?
