LET'S GO BONG JAEHYUN!!! LET'S GO GOLDEN CHILD!!!

If anyone else on MDL is a Goldenness, you are legally required to let me know.
I'm so excited to see Jaehyun acting more. I think he'd work really well in any acting projects.

Not long to go until it releases!

frankly I did not see it going there because there were no hints given that it would and it would have been weird…
yeah it would've been strange if it started late in the show. I'm actually quite happy with the bromance-y ending we got for those two. Enemies to friends is just as nice as enemies to lovers tbh.
It's like "aw shit, our friends have started dating so i guess we should just stop fighting and get along, because we're gonna end up seeing eachother a lot because those guys are dating"

I know this isn't what people generally love most about this drama but can I say I just love especially how the…
Your comment is absolutely spot-on.
One of the greatest things this show did was humanise the people of NK. Before this show, my general perception of those people would have been based on stereotypes of brainwashed people, or evil soldiers. It's a very naive perception to have, but a lot of people share this view of these people, due to the way they have been portrayed in various western shows and films.
CLOY shows you that, despite the somewhat insane conditions that they must deal with on a daily basis, the people of North Korea adapt and survive; as that is all humans can do in any circumstance. They live their lives, they help their friends, they look after their families. These are all universal human experiences, that almost anyone can see anywhere, just by looking at the people around them.

The portrayal of the ladies in the village REALLY did a great job at humanising these people. These women live lives very similar to that of older women in villages all around the world. They interact with one another, they look after their children, they maintain their household. Despite the way their country is run, these people just get on with life. They want the same things that any human wants: A happy, enjoyable life, with good friends around.

The characters of the soldiers in Ri Jeong-Hyeok's unit also do a fantastic job of humanising the soldiers of North Korea. The character of Pyo Chi-Su shows us, at first, what seems to be the stereotypical NK soldier we might have imagined: a somewhat mean and nasty guy, who is a bit hostile towards Se-Ri, a south korean. Early on, he suggests killing her. But then we see, that in reality, he is very caring. He looks after his younger soldiers, acting as a leader of sorts, when their captain is not around. He cares for them and worries about them. He even cares for Se-Ri and worries about her. He is, in a way, a combination of a stereotypical nasty NK soldier and a caring older brother-ish figure.
The character of Eun-Dong, the youngest soldier, reminds us of just how young these NK soldiers are. Conscription starts early there, and lasts a long time, much longer than in the south, and with much fewer ways of choosing when you actually go. We meet Eun-Dong as he weeps in the grass, reading a letter from his mother. He is just a child, and he looks up to the older soldiers as his older brothers, to guide him. We later see him skipping along, carefree, far away from NK, enjoying a taste of how his youth SHOULD be.
I could type for hours, about how each character in this show teaches us about the real humans of this country, but i would be here forever.

So now, when i think about North Korea, I no longer think of this closed-off nation of faceless brainwashed robots. I no longer think of this blank space in the world map. I now think of the village ladies, I think of Pyo Chi-Su, the soldier who secretly cares about the younger soldiers in his unit. I think of Eun-Dong, the soldier who is just a boy, even younger than me, missing out on a proper youth as he has been conscripted. I think of these characters who reflect somewhat realistic lives of real people in North Korea. These characters themselves may be fictional, but their life experience probably reflects the lives of many people in that country. I don't know for certain the number of soldiers in North Korea, but the figure is for sure over 1 million. That's 1 million soldiers who probably started out as a young, teenage Eun-Dong, scared and wishing he could return to his hometown. Take each character and multiply them by a few hundred thousand. In a country of 25 million people, there is bound to be a decent amount of people whose lives are very similar, in some ways, to at least one character in CLOY.
No more do I picture the massive missiles that they test regularly, I instead picture little soldier Eun-Dong crying in the grass as he reads his mother's letter.

The more we humanise these people, the less we will view them as an enemy, and the more we will view them as our fellow humans, who are in dire need of assistance.

I hope this show encourages others to learn about this country, as well as other countries on earth, so that they may find a way to help our fellow people of Earth.

If the "political-ness" of the fact that this is set in NK interests you, DEFINITELY watch it. Before this show, I had been extremely ignorant to this subject matter and knew nothing. After this show, I was inspired to learn more about both the circumstances in NK, their culture and just lots of things. That then snowballed into a newfound interest in politics, history and wondering about what i can do to help the world. These things are moreso just from myself, rather than the show's storyline, but i found that the NK setting and this unique portrayal of people from NK, that we've not really seen in this way before, really sparked a huge interest for me.

2 years after watching this show, and every life decision i have made can be linked back to the impact that this show had on my life. Ok that sounds a bit extreme but it's true to some extent.

Basically, if the political aspect of the NK setting interests you, watch it for that! Seriously. It's worth the watch.

Cmon, he needs more acting roles
He's shown some great skill in Convenience Store Fling, as well as in Crazy Petty Housemate, and the "Burn It" music video.

Hopefully we'll see him in more roles!!
Now where are my fellow Goldenness of MDL at?

Anyone who reads this: Please check out Golden Child! Bong Jae-Hyun (the puppy-like guy, i think was his role here), he's one of our 10 brilliant members in Golden Child. Please check out some of their brilliant songs, such as Ra Pam Pam, One lucid dream, OMG, and their latest song from their Japan debut: A Woo. My personal favourite is "Moment". They're a great group and the fandom is very chill and theres not much drama.

Any AB6IX fans: you must do this hehe. Our groups are like next-door neighbours, or cousins, in terms of how closely linked they are. ABNEW and Goldenness are family. We support eachother's groups, even though they are from different companies. Our Jangjun is best friends with your Woong. Let's continue to support eachother.
(also we both have a member called "Kim Dong Hyun" so... Goldenness and ABNEW are homies)

I love how the comments are so active here, even a month later haha. Oh i miss this show so much.

Was anyone else really hoping that we'd see KornWai happen? Towards the end of the series, when we saw Korn step in when Wai was arguing at the rugby match, and when Korn was there during some fight Wai had in the bar (ok i cant remember it too well now a month later), i really thought we'd see them together. At least they're working together in the end :) but damn i really thought the end would have the twist that they're secretly together or something.

anyway it's fine. I loved that series so much, it really was the highlight of my week for like three months

I started this show yesterday afternoon and finished it this morning and oh my god i loved it so much.
I actually had it spoiled for me in some Youtube comments, before then i'd never actually heard of the show. This show probably gets spoiled the most, as everywhere i've gone after finishing it, i see spoilers for it.

Even if you've had spoilers, still watch it. It's fantastic.

First does a FANTASTIC job acting as the girl Pan who is stuck in the boy Kim's body. I always think that in any show where one actor plays two characters (whether they're playing twins, parallel universe versions of someone, or a body swap), i think this can really show how good that actor is at convincing you that they are a different person. First played his role brilliantly and I commend him for that. I'd only seen him in 'Not Me' which is still airing, so this show made me like him even more.

Ohm also did a brilliant job, and I'm sure plenty of people have come to this show thanks to his massive boost in fame from the brilliant "Bad Buddy" series (i miss it so much... it's been about a month since it ended and i still miss it).

Everyone in this show did a great job, and i got so invested in the story. For once, I'm glad that i wasnt watching a show when it was airing, because i would have DIED if i had to wait an entire week between each episode of this.

tl;dr: WATCH THIS SHOW! Even if you had spoilers, just watch it anyway.

I was also thinking about this , but then again couldn't imagine them as black/white. Maybe another series , I…
Very good point. Gun has been outstanding as Black and White, ESPECIALLY in the newest episode. He's been brilliant.

I just want to see AJ and JJ in a main role in a series that makes the most about the fact that GMMTV have two identical twin actors. I think it would open the door to the possibilities of lots of unique show storylines. I've actually only seen them acting separately (so i didnt realise they were twins for a while hehe i thought it was one person).

Nah I think that would've ruined the series for me tbh. Off was casted as Sean because he has the perfect acting…
Oh yeah the more i've watched, the more I agree. Gun has done such a fantastic job playing the two twins, especially in the latest episode. I think he is a fantastic actor, and really deserves so much credit for his hard work.

My comment was moreso saying that I wish that GMMTV would give AJ and JJ a main role in a series about twins. Maybe not the same kind of series as Not Me, but i'd just like to see what kinds of stories they could make with these two identical twin actors.

it's not about having twins or not, the series has a lot of serious and emotinal scenes so the roles needs a lot…
oh no i wasnt complaining at all, and the further we've gotten through the story, the more i love it and the choice of actors.
I agree that they wouldn't have suited it. My point moreso is that i'd like to see GMMTV use the twins more in a proper main role in a series, yknow to make the most of having twin actors.

Gun is a fantastic actor, and the more i see him, the more i learn about just how good of an actor he is. he portrays White and Black so so well, and i commend him for that.

So yeah, i agree they wouldn't actually have suited the series. I'd just like to see these two in a series together, in a main role as twins, rather than side roles n stuff.

Just curious tho, how different was he? Is there any picture on google?
I'm a huge fan of Golden Child, and I mean no hate when I say this, but I don't think it was just weight loss. I think it's a combination of weight loss and some sort of procedure on his face. His nose and possibly his jaw seem to have changed a bit more than if he had just lost weight.
He really does look different, and I was quite surprised seeing him the first time on stage since it happened.

Duean and Meen should get a side story to watch(the two of them as mains) Their legit so cute together :)
The trailer for "The Eclipse" on GMMTV had a brief moment that suggested that Neo and Louis (Duean and Meen) are possibly the second couple, but i'm not entirely sure yet as i've not seen what the actual synopsis is. The trailer's here if you haven't seen it: https://youtu.be/SuOnQ5jmy1s

i'm still confused...i thought he was drafted but his instagram is super active with what looks like new content…
I've been wondering this too! I read that he pulled the red card, meaning he'll have to enlist, but there's been no sign that he's actually gone to the military. I read soemwhere that some people end up not having to go because there were enough volunteers in the same area. I think this happened to Win as well
