Was Emperor, who was the Crown Prince at the time, jealous of his brother's (...Prince Duan) popularity? So, he allowed Cui to execute the massacre?

Emperor is weak. He threatens Pei Yi, but he is afraid of his ministers. Guess what? Chancellor Cui might be planning to overthrow him.

He might be lying in bed, hoping Li Pei Yi will run to his bedside. Mother Xiao might beg Li Pei Yi to save her beloved son.

That old saying, "Vengeance is mine!" Li Pei Yi was on a roll, but Xiao Huai jin stepped in and saved Wrong Chanceller Cui's life.

He might be laid up for another episode.

XHJ has a fragile ego. Pei Yi ripped out his heart. Did he really expect her to thank him for saving Cui's life? He's been reading the star charts too much.

Once Xiao Huai Jin initiated the royal marriage contract successfully, his ego must have inflated. He thought he could capture Lu Chong Shan, and proceeded to intervene on Wrong Chancellor Cui's behalf. He is so intelligent that he should have put himself in Pei Yi's shoes, and imagine what it would have been like, if Cui had massacred his entire family and household.

LOL The eunuch tag is on point. When you look back on his contributions throughout the plot, he does come across as a eunuch.

Let's sign a petition for a new emperor, and write in Li Pei Yi's name.

Episode 29 was a let down. Xiao Pei Yi dropped a few notches for his chivalrous acts. He went off on a mission to apprehend Lu Chong Shan in the forest while Lu was actually in the capital keeping vigil over Right Chancellor Cui. He and Gu must have fast horses to arrive conveniently at the Duan Mansion in time to save Cui's life. He interrupts Pei Yi's revenge plot, and expects gratitude? Now, he's the broken hearted jilted princess, sick in bed. So much for the trust level!

Emperor is spineless and gutless as ever. He essentially pardoned Cui for the massacre of his brother and his clan, and sent him to his hometown to write scriptures, because he was afraid of disrupting the court. I imagine Cui will be back on the job soon, and with five episodes to go, he might stage a rebellion to overthrow Emperor. What will the Emperor say then? I hope Emperor is kicked off the throne. Does he have a successor? Li Pei Yi would make a great emperor/empress.

Conclusion: Did they change the writer here?

I forgot about Prince Deng Kai. His screen time was five minutes.😆

It is interesting that there are only two good looking young men in the capital; Xiao Huai Jin and Gu Ling Zhou. LOL

There were two opportunities beforehand when a kiss would have been appropriate. LOL

I don't know if it was Youku, but there was another drama recently where the company stretched out the final batch of episodes.

They are a cute couple. They communicate without saying a word. She should have guessed his motives without having him explain it.

Right Chancellor has remained in the background. I can't recall seeing him and Emperor having a conversation. Director fogged up his scene in episode 28, with his underling, to keep his identity secret. That was a stupid ploy. The secret's already out, and the viewers know his identity.

She is one of my favorite characters.
