Did you notice the death ones and alive ones was in different sides?
It must have been a goodbye party for the actors, having worked on a very stressful drama plot. They could have ended it when Hanyan inscribed the headstone of Mother and Yuwen.
I was torn between 7.5 and 8.0, and settled for 8.0. The 2 deductions are for:Zhuang's Shi Yang's melodramatic…
Ling Zhi was very cute, but she was overacting with the dialog. Poor actress had a lot to memorize. It must have taken a lot of filming time to film her scenes, since she would not be able to retain all the dialog. Neither would I, at my current age.
I'm in a quandary about how to rate this drama. While it had a solid story of revenge well taken and there was…
I was torn between 7.5 and 8.0, and settled for 8.0.
The 2 deductions are for:
Zhuang's Shi Yang's melodramatic acting The zealous orchestral music, which was very good, btw The plot holes; missing scenes that would have benefited the plot Fu Yun Xi standing in the background like a standee No execution scene for Zhuang!
The lack of expressiveness in the acting performances can be attributed to the director's management skills. If he doesn't feel the sentiment behind the script, the director is just supervising the actors reciting the dialog on the page. Most of the time, I was admiring the costumes and the little accessories on the dresses.
It would have been more effective to have the Emperor issue the edict for Zhuang's execution, and have all his living victims line up in his range of vision, to see him beheaded. They could have been holding the memorials of their deceased loved ones who Zhuang killed.
Did the Dept of Judicial Review recover all the treasures that Zhuang hoarded? There was mention of all the loans (...that were Zhuang Hanyan's name), but that feels hollow. He should have had a vault with gold and silver and jewels in the secret tunnel.

A conspiracy theory! ROFL I just looked at the scene. The Left have the sparkles only. It looks like the director arranged them by outfit color, and balanced the colors, left and right.
I crammed five episodes in the last five hours. I had to weed through the episodes to get to the finale. The director and writer skipped a few scenes. They must have run out of budget. Zhuang was delulu to the end, seeing ghosts. 👻 👻 I began to wonder if Ruan Xiwen and Yuwen Changan were still alive all this time. 😂😂 Good drama with too much Zhuang Shiyang, overacting. He worked hard for his paycheck.
We got two kisses in thirty episodes. Bringing back the cast for the final scene was unique. I might have seen that in one other drama. Granny Zhuang and Chai Ling were missing. We never saw the Emperor, nor any court sessions with the Left and Right Ministers causing friction. 😂😂😂 Final rating 8.0
He got all the gold and other treasure from being the adopted son of the dead eunuch. Now all he wants is to drive…
Thanks for the clarification. I would not describe Zhuang Shi Yang as an enigmatic villain, but my questions came to mind with every passing episode. I can't wait to see him fall. Does Madam Zhou know where he hides his secrets, to enlighten Fu Yunxi and Hanyan?
Have we seen the Emperor? Will he finally show up in the final five episodes? Zhuang Shi Yang's plot contrivance is diluted. All we see is him acting innocent and weepy, throwing occasional tantrums and side-eye glances, plotting to throw people around him under the bus.
More questions: What is Zhuang Shi Yang's motivation? To get promoted to Prime Minister? He's received one promotion since the drama started. Did we see all his ill-gotten gains; the gold and silver treasures that Director Pei had amassed? Did we see him conspiring with the Royal Court members? Was Fu Yunxi hint at a conspiracy? Will he redeem himself at the end, or will Hanyan serve him the Tea and THE dagger thrust to the heart? He should be beheaded. Madam Zhou and Yushan can follow him, if they want.
When Zhuang returns home, he will probably go after Mother since she was the only one who knew that her husband was poisoned.
Of course he would blame it on Zhou Ru Yin, this old man can't take accountability for his crimes. wtfff I knew…
I thought he was going to blame his mother. LOL I think Zhuang Shi Ying and Screenwriter colluded on the script plot. It is tiring to watch Zhuang Shi Ying's scheming drag out.
