Okay, not exactly 3 business days. Since I'm procrastinating at work, might as well.
Overall though I still think this was a good drama, compared to anything else I've watched this year. Regardless of the ending, I thoroughly enjoy the journey. Not perfect but still it has impact. Glad that I stumbled upon this.

Title A Journey to Love Spoiler
Okay, not exactly 3 business days. Since I'm procrastinating at work, might as well.
So, here's some of my takeaways from the last 6 episodes
1. The "missing each other on the road" trope! What in the name of daily soap opera nonsense was that?
2. The Wu royal family dispute was a weird drag, I was wondering why it did not get the same treatment as the An royal family political murder from few episodes back. Turns out that was a scheme involving our mom and dad. Fine. I can take that.
3. Li tong guang regressing back into obsessive idiot was a total letdown.
4. Them dying one by one almost felt like a joke. DON'T tell me we've seen it coming from spoilers! I know it's no surprise to everyone that death was imminent in this genre, but contextually, it's almost like the drama was just trying to make justification to kill them.
5. Sure, it's the journey, not the results that matter. And we all agree, what a wonderful journey that was. And of course, a good drama is a drama that makes you feel, all those joy and sorrow, every single one of their glorious moments to their lowest point. However, the way it all ends almost felt like we're all collectively being trolled LOL.
6. On that note, my take from the final scene was, Chu Yue died in that flower field, and in her final moments she saw her past comrades, coming back to welcome her to the other side.
7. Still annoyed that we didn't get to see Ying in her final glory. The alliance was logical, but LTG didn't deserve her.

I'm on ep 9 right now and so far this is pretty interesting. I wonder if this setting is based on actual history or is it more like fictional history (something like 'new life begins')? The values that the characters hold seems a bit different than other period drama that I've watched. But I'm enjoying the sets and the make up, costumes, and hair styling (again, I wonder if they're historically correct?), they're really cute.

The place they shot the duel between RRY and Deng hui, isn't it the same with MJTY spot too?
It is the same, i think, many period dramas share similar sets cause they were mostly shot in hengdian.

Title A Journey to Love Spoiler
Now that was a gripping episode(s)!
Some points I want to highlight:
1. Though I don't agree with some of their decisions, I still enjoy all the showdown today. Very quick paced that it left no time for us to questions things. Even though some of us has heard spoilers from future episodes, it still makes us glued to the screen, and still leaves us reeling from the impact.
2. The sword making scene is very underwhelming (excuse me for being crude, but, come on, every sword making scene needs abs! XD)
3. Ruyi not killing the emperor is the peak of her character growth, IMO. Even though we all been so tired of him and just want him dead already, it would not be very satisfying to see him die in that situation.
4. Apparently ruyi's word is correct, jiu can only become li tong guan after his shifu dies. Him not immediately bursting into flame when deng hui was goading him for killing 'the woman that he loves' is also a very good character development.
5. Where's A ying though?
6. Also wondering how they'll bring ruyi back. Because she's definitely going to be back, right? I don't care even if she'll pull a jang uk and just straight up wake up from the fire and strides away like she owns the world. Cause she totally does!

Title A Journey to Love Spoiler
Idk why but i feel the last 2 episodes feels a bit boring for me (i fell asleep a few times XD). I still enjoy their dynamics but, overall we get less exiciting moments and mostly just preparation for what's going to come. Probably because I don't get the chemistry from the potential shishan-chu yue couple and yet we get so much of them. They feel more like a 'here's a guy, here's a girl, now kiss' type of couple for me, in which, them being together doesn't really add or substract anything to the overall story. Both just seems like the type who would fall in love easily, but will it last? I don't see anything in chu yue that's so special that it will make shisan change his ways. Maybe they'll prove me wrong, who knows.

Title A Journey to Love Spoiler
Kill a prince for the petty revenge of appeasing an already dead empress and set the entire kingdom on high alert…
Yes it's suicide mission and so not worth it, but, i think it's also important for them to look like they're doing something. I mean, it will be too suspicious for them not to do anything at all, An people might even suspect that they have something to do with the strife between the princes.
But yeah, it's too big of a stake, and it's been established that NYZ would prefer method with least possible casualties. A better workaround, i guess, would be that they pretend to save Wu di while actually doing something to An di. Kill another two birds with one stone.

I thought this was more for the benefit of setting LTG up into a better position. The fact that ruyi got her revenge plot fulifilled is just a bonus point, for me. But they're in for the long run to create internal chaos so they can gain control to the next in line. That's how NYZ explain it to LTG in the beginning of ep 27 and that's how i've been seeing it.

That was the fastest episode and story progress that I have ever seen šŸ˜„šŸ˜„
For real. This drama does a speed through all of it's (usually boring) political machination on it's own, i don't even have time to touch my fast forward button lol. Instead, it chooses to take its sweet time on building relationships, maintaining chemistry among it's casts, and letting it's characters free from old grudges and obsessions.
On that note, li tong guan still has this unhinged smile that is kinda creepy, i hope he really has turned over a new leaf and never relapses again. Ever.

Rumored cast salaries were leaked:LSS - CNY 2.78mm/ep, LYN 1.95mm/ep, CDL 630k/ep, HLD 770k/ep, FYL 930k/ep.That's…
Is this common in chinese dramaland, that main actress got paid considerably more than the main actor? Most account I heard from hollywood/kdramaland mentioned that it's very uncommon, though not unheard of. I get that in this drama case in particular there is seniority factor to consider. But I'm just wondering if this would happen with actress and actor from the same caliber starring in a drama together.

Question: When Ruyi was "recruited" to join the Scarlet Guards the second time as a white sparrow, how come no…
Probably because she carefully choose to be reinstated in area where she wouldn't meet people who have seen her before.

Though I know LYN more from his singing than his acting, I’m still a fan, and I can say that this particular…
Right! It's practically the first time i watch him in a drama and yet, I really can't imagine anyone else playing NYZ. People saying that he doesn't fit the role or that someone else should replace him is crazy. Clearly they did not watch the drama at all.
