This show is ridiculous but i like that they embrace the ridiculousness all the way through. The four way slaps! The peppa pig tattoos! I watch the 3 hours+ long merged version on youtube, and even though the sub is far from perfect i can decently understand what was going on. Overall a pretty fun and stress free show to watch on the weekend.

Yimian has a drama where she's the main lead. It's a short drama called never too late.
Wait, did you mean a spin off drama where yimian and xie ang is the main character?? Sorry i totally misunderstand your comment ahaha ^^;

i'm just going to turn off my brain and enjoy the ride cause this is definitely the type of drama that aims more to be pretty than anything else.
Also, this part: "sssh, listen, the sound of my white hair growing out of my scalp, one by one" is peak relatable i'm going to make a gif and send it to anyone who annoys me XD

Just curious, what drama did you discover leo wu from? Because, if it's Nothing But You, then, same :D

Kinda random but I really like xiangyun’s eye make up. It’s so colourful and prettyyy
The overall costumes and make ups in this drama are excellent tbh. I haven't watched too many xian xia dramas but this is probably the prettiest that i've ever seen. For once, not everyone is wearing white on heavenly realm, even though they still mostly focused on pastel color, but at least, variations!

Never have the saying 'don't judge the book by its cover' feels more appropriate than my experience watching this drama. I mean, look at the cheesy poster! And tao's hair! (Speaking of, i knew tao since his exo days and i've tried watching some of his earlier dramas and none of them can convince me about his acting prowess). However, because I have too much time on my hands and i found that all of the eps are available for free on wetv, i decided to give it a go. And i was, to put it lightly, pleasantly surprised. I came here right after finishing ep 33 and, trust me, never have i ever said this about cdrama but, i want more!
This has the perfect amount of anything for me; comedy, romance, friendship and family bonds, enough tension and conflicts to make the settting feels believable, but not too much that it would make it feels draggy. All the actors did well, even the supporting characters. All the side romances and corporate politics and legal jargons delivered well enough, i did not skip or fast forward anything. Overall just a fun and very enjoyable drama.

I did not expect that i would love this drama as much as I am now, given the problematic premise. I just watched it randomly because it's available on viki and it's short and has comedy tag so i gave it a go. Boy was I in for a very pleasant surprise cause that was a very entertaining watch. I especially love the occasional breaking of the 4th wall; it's like the show is acknowledging that it is problematic but then it shifted the focus on how they could make positive turn from the situation. I'm not going to argue whether what haijin did was considered grooming, but I still enjoy the dark jokes so much. haven't had this much laugh from watching drama for a while.

Campy but oh so fun! I also enjoy the bits of japanese myths and how they translates into the modern version of the youkai(s). Comedic timing is also very on point!

Same director so kinda like a bonus cameo for those who watched his previous drama. Plus in this drama also mentioned…
I beg to differ! I think the cameos are quite a neat writing trick, in which, rather than adding new characters, they're reusing characters that already existed. Aside from sole fanservice reason, i think these cameo scenes also serves as external motivation for the main characters, such as the lantern scene that motivates the ML to teach the FL to write, and the family scenes that shows the image of ideal family. Another scene also adds more depth to the character such as the maid that turns out to be the flying kite seller from the previous drama. In that way, the story does not exist in a vacuum, and for me it kinda feels like a mini MCU where many characters lives tied to one other.

Can someone convince me to watch this lol, it's been sitting on my Plan to Watch list but I just can't bring myself…
Its was on my plan to watch for months before i finally started it. I really needed a lot of time to get immersed in the story. There were also a lot of characters to remember, feels kinda like being thrown into a family event where all your distant relatives are there and suddenly you have to greet a lot of people that you don't quite know/remember lol.
But once all of it settled, it really was a nice slice of life drama about living a quiet life. It's probably not going to resonate much to everyone, but it brings warmth and the feelings of being a part of community that has been lost to most of us city dwellers.
For me, i've started watching it like one ep a day until about 5 or 6 eps and then i ended up binge-ing it hahaha.

Also xiaobai shifu is very cute and all but i am not very sure what animal is he supposed to be. The fact that shi ying is now so willingly giving her a piece of himself to her, with a dash of playfulness, is very satisfying to watch.

Yeah it's just a matter of my own expectation and i am not blaming anyone that the story did not exactly meet it. I haven't watched the untamed because it's not exactly my cup of tea, nor do i have read the novel zhu yan; in fact i am pretty new to the whole c-drama landscape so i guess i just have to deal that sometimes they do things differently around here *shrugs*

Okay i have watched all the aired episode and i just want to say that i'm glad things are FINALLY picking up.…
--because they need twenty three and a half episode (!!!) to get back to the starting point of the story. That aside, I was also quite sceptical for the first 20 eps since i came here expecting romance but there is very little meaningful romance happening until the flashback is over. They're so focused on building the political aspects, i think, that even the main characters development has been kinda slowed down.
I was also having doubts because up until ep 24 or 25, all the interactions between the leads was mostly built on the male lead very patronizingly scolding the female lead. Like, how can i believe that the romance is going to work if their standing is so not equal, it just feels wrong imo. Thankfully it has been slightly improving during the last few episodes (can't be soon enough tho).
One more thing that i want to note is that, despite what other people said, i actually think ren min looks better with the bangs instead of the side swept hair. Yeah, it does make her look young but she is young, no matter how you look, xiao zhan looks 32 and ren min looks 24. I can have that opinion and still enjoy the story so, yeah. Just want to put it out there that it's not always all about looks to make a story work.

Wait so is she actually the reincarnation of her great grandma???? That is going to be so wildddd. I mean i watched the trailers so its pretty clear there's going to be love triangle but then, to have a love line with the grandkid of your past lover?
Wait but if the great grandma died before she can be with the love of her life, presumably she hadn't married yet, the how could the family line continue then... 🤔

Yeah same. The novel isn't written that well and they only removed the creepy part and made the plot more seamless.…
I also made a similar question below but i got two answers, so basically, they made changes from the book regarding the characters' age? In the book they're supposed to be 8 years apart, while in the drama, the age gap is much closer? I was confused because the age gap between the child and adult casts are so different and i just want to confirm whether i should feel icky or not about their relationship haha.

Title My Marvellous Fable Spoiler
The ending felt a little bit flat for me. Maybe cause they waste too much time dealing with the abuser (yes, 2 episodes too long, i just hate this guy ok). But to give credits where its due, it has been such a fun journey (r.i.p. the gas money tian lan has spent during the whole ordeal) despite it also came with a few rough patches. I think it's one of the few rare chances where the usage of unreliable narrator is warranted cause, the narrator is literally writing the story as she goes. Overall, this is not a perfect drama by all means, but worth watching if you're trying to find something fresh as a break from the usual, full of tropes, idol drama. Also great performance by the actors (they did great job to cast actor and actress with very asmr friendly voice for such a heavily narrated type of drama like this). With some great kisses as bonus.

XZ and Ren Min have a large age gap IRL. But in the drama should only be a year or two. Shi Ying should be 17…
Okay so they ARE 8 years apart in the drama? But now the child actors don't seem like they're 16 and 8... oh well. Thank you for the answer ^^
