i'm currently on ep 04 and so far, i understand why people said it's the best season. they're all just overall very nice people who only wants the best for each other, always open to discuss and communicate whenever problem arises. no one holds grudge for petty issues cause they talk about it immediately. they're also willing to understand and very sympathetic to each other's difficulties. wang anyu seems like he's hard carrying the whole tour so far but it's mainly because he's being ambitious and perfectionist. i'm glad he can talk about it with his tour guide partner. he has a tendency to make decision first and confirm later lol. probably cause he already consider various possibilities in his head and make conclusion on his own. it's good that hailu jie can remind him (gently) to always ask for others opinion before making decisions. i hope he can let loose a bit and feel less burdened about his responsibility in future episodes.
MING TAN!!! i was rooting for you!!! and then you show up in a situation when clearly you can contribute nothing, and make it worse instead! all the unnecessary casualties! *facepalm*
It just came out on wetv (at least in my region) today and they released all 20 eps at once and fully subbed. Was really surprised at the production quality because, at least visually, it looks like a solid full length drama budget. So i checked here and the 6.4 rating took me by surprise. Probably because it wasn't subbed before? It's really weird tho, why people rated it if they don't even understand it.
Lol, by this logic, you should stop watching dramas. Even the best dramas have bs inside. If you think that dramas…
I understand what you mean by logical standpoint. But, maybe, at that moment jiang xu was kinda torn too, so he wasn't really giving his all to stop her. He knew she was sad, but he also knew she shouldn't be there. So in a moment of hesitation, she escaped from his grasp. That still did not explain the guards... but maybe they were also gauging the response of their leader, and seeing no clear instructions... they didn't react... that's my only defense that i could think of to try to settle the situation in my brain, lol
It's interesting how some may see the ML as "weaker" once he's married. While the "fierce warrior turns gentle…
"how ML forgot about his revenge on FL's because he love her but still didn't trust him and hiding things and then FL do something where ML forgive her easily" i mean, you're not wrong, but isn't that kinda the point? my take on this show is, unlike the glory or the double or even blossom, this story is NOT about how to exact a revenge to your enemy, but to forgive them. as wei shao's grandma has said 'let's face hatred with kindness' (or something like that). this is wei shao's journey to let go of his generational trauma and hatred, and live for the present, instead of keep dwelling on the past. it's not about who's angrier or easier to coax. xiao qiao came into the wedding agreement with mission to keep everyone happy despite the tensions. but she wouldn't let anyone step on her either. the drama might not showing enough of the gravity of the situation; it's decidedly leans more into silly romcom interpretation; but the heart remains the same. and if people came here expecting vengeance and full on redemption of the past, this drama is probably not the right place.
I agree. Maybe it's because I read the novel first but this has wayyy too much comedy compared to the novel. sometimes…
So true. I read it too but it's been a while so there were many parts that i forget. But from what i remember it was a lot more intense and angsty and the ML was being a typical a**hole from that era. Some of the jokes do feels badly timed but i already decide that i would turn my brain off and just enjoy the ride with this one.
After watching 19 episodes i still stand by my comment from earlier episodes that this is a romance (& comedy) drama first and foremost. We get schemes and battle of wits but what seems like a political warfare is actually a build up for the main couple relationship. And this is not me complaining, in fact this drama shows up right on time when i'm needing something that is fluffy but still has substance. However, i imagine that people coming here expecting intense revenge, political strategies, and wars, would be severely disappointed.
The storytelling so far has been great.... but seriously, why did they make the Four Generals so dumb? Especially…
This. I'm still trying to figure out if we're ever going to get individual character development for each of them, or they will only end up as a comedic bundle. Their character is not very distinct from each other so there's really no point in creating 4 different generals to fit for 1-2 role, imo. Could've condensed them into 2 person, really.
The English subs kinda bothers me because the actors would call one by their title and the English subs shows…
I'm not chinese but this bothers me too lol. Many asian languages emphasize the significance of addressing the other person the right way because it could imply different level of respect, formality, etc.
Great episodes; so does the grandmother actually like FL or is she just tolerating her? I think FL needs more…
If we're going with novel characterization, iirc the grandma is actually very nice, she'll be xiao qiao best support while trying to manage her marriage life in wei family.
So far i'm enjoying this because despite the initial premise, this is actually very light and easy to digest. They condensed the (many, so many) wars from the original story and instead focusing on the intentions and mental wars behind it. I also like the fact that, amidst the trend of dramas with revenge-driven plots, this story is focusing on forgiving, understanding each other, and trying to find middle ground to fight common enemies. My only complaints so far is that i was kinda hoping more individual character building from the four wei generals squad. So far their actions are a bit inconsistent, especially towards xiao qiao and the qiaos in general. But yeah, we're still in the early stage so there are plenty of room to develop it. That, and I just kinda missed liu yuning's six path squad from AJTL...
Just finished the 2nd eps. So far this looks solid, and the tweaks they made to alter it from the novel actually makes it works as a story of it's own. I sure hope this doesn't mean they would deviate too much from the novel ending cause, we're all so done with stupid writers who thinks the only way to make a story worth remembering is to end it in tragedy 🙄
Anyone wondering where to watch this drama? Just DM me, and I’ll help you with the link.
hi! i just found a short about this drama this morning and it seems to be uploaded on DMM TV's yt channel but there's no sub yet. can you point me to a link with sub? thanks in advance!
I'm 18 eps in and if there's anything i've learned from this drama is that, if you met someone that's overly nice, they probably has evil intentions 😅😅. That aside, i have question though. Sorry if this has been asked before, but when banxia was kidnapped in the underground city, how did xuanye make the connection between the teapot(?) hanging in the cupboard and the bookstore? Did i miss a cultural reference or something?
i've watched until mid-part of ep 14 so far but i just have to say
the part where the FL basically speed-run her investigation about the 'supposedly' pei's adopted son was just so freaking funny from a storytelling perspective. i got a major flashback from that one episode in ajty where they basically just narrate a whole political revolution cause they just don't want to be bothered XD
