Not always. I am a subber on Viki and I frequently compare theirs and Gaga’s. For Eternal Yesterday and My Tooth Your Love Gaga subs were quite often better. For the first season of Utsukushi Kare the Gaga subs were spectacularly and infamously bad though. I hope they have learnt from the criticism. Viki subs btw are never the final one at airing time.
Imho Given was the best adaptation of manga/anime to live action I have ever seen despite some plot simplifications. These attempts usually fail because the creators want to recreate the unique OTT style of those, but they never travel well to the screen and they don’t work with humans. Miki wisely chose not to do this.
I know that 98% of the MDL board is obsessed with the goddamned kisses up to the point that nothing else really matters, but I belong to the remaining 2%. When I said his trademark I meant his uniqe and original subject matters, his storytelling, his very characteristic camerawork, his use of angles and colours, lights and darkness, the highly emotional content and his slick way of bringing out powerhouse performances from his cast. He generalély comes up with trumps in all those aspects, so i don't give a feck about kisses. I like raunchy stuff when it comes but I am not watching BL as a substitute for porn.

Like I said Viki is getting the shows with English subtitles in the first place. We are translating it to a third foreign language from English. That is how Vikis shows are multisubbed.

Viki is airing its productions with English subtitles and everyone translates by that. We do not receive the subs in file format - although it is downloadable. Viki has an integrated subtitling system, and we are using that one.
Gaga subs tend to be subpar but for Japanese content is especially lacking.Viki doesn't have a single BL available…
Actually it is different in each case. I was subbing Eternal Yesterday on Viki, and I constantly compared the two subs, because sometimes Gaga was way better.
I am subbing this on Viki, and I have already asked the channel manager whether it is going to be a cut version there. She said it is R18, so then it is unlikely but who knows. She asked the Viki staff and comes back to me once she knows the answer.
Wow, I have just realized this is directed by the Japanese BL king Miki Koichiro. The guy who gave us the Pornographer/Mood Indigo family, the live action version of Given and The Man Who Defies the World of BL. That is why it is so freaking good.
