...the love story is fiction, i agree. But you cant be sure that all what you know about historical charater of Wang Yoo is true... look what happened after him, who ruled and what dynasty become into top. I dont say that it cant be true but... take this kind things with grain of salt, there are so many exsamples in history where all what we belived to be 100% truth ...is complete lie or partly false

...ummm..i think % of fiction is alot less bc major events what we see in drama really happened and some minor ones too. It is that many historical facts are shown to us in new, fictional light/souce/ that we might dont recognize them...

I agree with both sides. Drama authors have been creativily free with some facts /like ages and time frames of events or cuting off some historical persons aso/ but in same time there are events what really happened in history /latest one,Tal Tal killing his uncle and start point of Red Turbans rise/. Actually nobody knows how/why some events happened, even if there are history books, sometimes only outcome of thous events what has many sources to prove them is counted to be fact. Between proven facts and events there are shadows of speculations and rumours with what everybody can create own view. Sometimes sudden find of some historical documents has proven that all what we have belived to be true fact is just some rumours without any base. So creators use thous shadows and bend some facts abit to give us entertaining fictional story, not history documental.

I agree with this article. Music in this drama is incredible, it is hotter than sex. There are people who say that this drama is too slow, i think they miss something - i would say that this drama has insane speed what takes your breath away. Tempo of drama isnt always fysical actions, fighting, shouting and running around. Sometimes tempo of storytelling is hidden deeper, you cant see it with eyes but must felt it with your mind and heart.
For classical music lovers this drama is must, good acting lovers this drama is must, good cinematografy lovers this drama is must, good storytelling lovers this drama is must... but if you seek just light entertaiment for fun...skip it.

Rain is very talanted entertainer, I never found his looks to be beautyful, max he is handsome but he is extreemly charming on screen and scene, i bet in rl too.
From his roles what he has made i liked 2:
- A Love to Kill, even if all drama isnt perfect, he makes here perfect role, his chemistry with female lead is incredible and he manages portray very multidimensonal charater in simple and natural way.
- Sang Doo, Let's Go To School,sadly not mentioned here but MUST to watch for Rain's stalker/ Here he is doing fantastic job with role what is more antihero than hero from first glance, you fall in love with his character. And here you can see one from list "best bromance" in dramaland. Even if he doesnt have best of best chemistry with lead female he has incredible chemistry with second male lead and kid actors.

I kinda liked this drama, despite its so not original basic setting it managed add some fresh details and actors where fitting into roles too. But if you like see revenge and tragedy - just skip it.

It is weird but...all here mentioned dramas what i have seen and where guy is alot older than girl...somehow i didnt liked them. I disliked Mischievous Kiss: Love in Tokyo and wasnt thrilled about Prime minister and I.
From other side I have enjoyed many older female - younger male actor dramas.

its Korean belief again,that blood knows blood,mainly in father-son relations. They showed how king liked Maha and Maha liked him & Nyang when he was baby and how emperor didnt find any connection with him,with his Ayu he bonded instantly. For emperor his marriage with empress was humilation forced on him and kid from this marriage is poisoneus fruit. Add here that Maha is older and by rules should become emperor but Tahwan wants Ayu to become heir for throne. It is selfish and small minded from him but... his personality has gone twisted with all this fear and horror what he lived thru when he was kid, he is kinda damaged from it and unbalanced without Nyang.Still, he havent sent Maha away to countryside or outside palace, he havent taken away his privileges aso. and same time - he is honest.Maybe this honesty is cruel for kid but it is better than fake smiles.Btw Maha doesnt fear him..

jep..he is lousy but it would have been worse if there wasnt Nyang besides him all thous years. Think about from he comes, how he was rised, what he has seen and felt when he was kid... Still... jep, he is lousy...

Isnt it wonderful how creators managed take two so damaged and twisted villains whom everybody has learned to hate and from whom nobody waits something pure and selfless ... and show us that even in mudd there might suddenly bloom beautyful flower? Never say never...

Other titles are kinda specific and hard to convert into well working live action for all audience,if then few of them for younger teens and for kids with cheesy fairytale effects in Disney style.

...this isnt romcom. Main genres are action and historical. So...no need to focus/invest on ships, thous are there just to trigger some main events. I bet any of them dont have happy endings to mirror tragedy of era, just mine gut feeling.

Im not big fan of school dramas/animes/mangas but in weird way i liked this one alot, maybe bc of lead actor, i love many his roles.

I tried watch remake but for me it was missing that something what made me enjoy older drama with same story and Gokusen was big no-no for me bc it had so little what i can enjoy and alot what creeps me out / mainly cheap jokes and fanservice for teens/.

There is only few whom i know who like older dramas, mainly people discard them bc " fashion is weird, hairdos are so old dated" a.s.o. This makes me facepalm bc i wonder what they value in dramas - story and acting or work of designer crew.

facepalm...did you all forget that this is adaptation? Writers can change abit sidestories or cut thous off but main storyline...they dont change it, so change of writer doesnt have anything to do with whom JT ends up .No need to blame writers, it was long time ago desided by author of manhwa. If, then they can tease our imagination and this is all.
sister part isnt so lose end bc even if it isnt on surface now, the reason is - JT has lost all leads and hope to find her.But if you watched carefully then there was scene where was given hint about his sister. Til now all hints given are used, im sure they havent forgotten about this one too.
p.s. this drama isnt romcom and remember what era this is. Happy endings ???...soon in blink of eye world is in big war, biggest in history.
