Why does Netflix love Gender swapping so much? even taking the head of the Chinese tradition and doing this? Really?…
Honestly though, you have a point. Netflix can be disrespectful not only to religions but also to cultures. I am not happy seeing Kdramas being being packed with western elements. I started to love Kdramas because they are more conservative, more creative, not overly sexualized, they also value family and traditions, have this culture of respect to the audience (no swearing and curses) and so on. Kdramas are losing their originality, and I'm sad it's happening.

Well, you are right. Disobeying managers when you are a new employee is kinda stupid, but for someone with strong ethics, it's hard for him to follow their orders when he thought he could help. He simply thought it was unethical to sit and do nothing. He was even willing to resign because the whole situation did not align with his values. There are people like this and it's always hard to reshape them, and yes they mostly end up losing their job because of their strict values. What's more, they don't regret it. Haha And yeah, lol Male lead can do whatever he wants and nothing will happen to him.

One, he's not on a probation period. He was recruited not to kick him out when he fails, but because the big boss wanted to recruit him. Two, he's a VERY righteous person, when he knows he can help but is restrained from help for 'unconvincing reasons to him', he can't stand still. I'm not saying that he's right disobeying the managers, but I can understand where he comes from. I do think that he deserved to be punished for stealing those weapons, but what happened to him because of his reckless decision was almost enough to make him understand why he shouldn't have interfered. Apparently, GooRyeon used to be like him so it seems like the management is not really strict when it comes to employees' actions especially those caused by ethical decisions.

I think it depends on the company. There are organizations that can tolerate their employees' behaviors and give them chances because they have the potential to grow and shine later on. I work in such a company. As for the company in the drama, well, it was stated that even GooRyeon used to disobey her managers when she felt it was needed. Plus, the big boss is quite patient and she was the one who recruited CJW for some purpose. Ofc no one can kick him out when he acts like this. Haha

You never disobeyed your managers when you were new? Especially if it's a situation where you had to behave in a way that contradicted with your values for the first time ever? Many new employees do not understand why things are done the way they are done, they think they can solve things in their way. Only when they do such mistakes, they learn. Well ofc that's my opinion regarding JoonWoong, you can feel however you want about him because it's totally normal.

Yeah I understand where you come from. This drama is mostly plot driven, the characters are there to serve the plot not the other way around. Honestly, it is a good thing because the concept is pretty sensitive, and the message of the drama is what really matters, not the characters.

I know that many viewers think that Choi JoonWoong is reckless, annoying, childish, etc. It's okay to feel this way, but remember he is a new employee in a super unique afterlife business in which the other characters have been working for decades and centuries. He's the only human in the company with no powers at all (can you imagine his frustration?) and it's his first work experience ever. Remember he was still unemployed when he got into the accident. He's also probably a fresh graduate so in his early 20s. I remember how big of a mess I was during this age, and when I worked for the first time. Therefore, I find his behavior understandable and totally normal, especially that he is a good-natured person with a kind heart and a positive mind, who is apparently loved by his own family and hasn't really gone through a major loss, incident or trauma in his his life. Meanwhile, the grim reapers are cool, chill, and mostly emotionless and lack emplathy because they have been in the business (taking people's life) for a long time, ofc they won't be as affected as JoonWoong when dealing with the cases. For instance, I noticed that surgeons also tend to be calm and robot-like because of the nature of their work. When you cut people's bodies on a daily basis, you get used to it eventually, and you don't feel anything about it anymore and that not what they want but what they have to. Same for grim reapers here. They are not to blame for the cold attitude, it's just their job. They have to maintain their calmness and neutrality in order to do their job efficiently. I personally like JoonWoong A LOT, the amount of empathy and righteousness he has is goals.

7 episodes into the drama and I am already loving the female lead character. Very funny and lovely. It's my first time seeing thd actress, she's so natural. I'm new to Chinese dramas (watched 4), and she's the best lead actress I have seen so far. Excited for how her relationship with Lu Yi will unfold. I like Allen Ren too so I guess it's gonna be an enjoyable show.

Hi there! :) Glad to hear you are looking into allen ren and dilireba, they are great actors in my opinion, and…
Thanks for your long reply haha I like the fantasy genre, but I'm used to the Korean fantasy stories which are waaay lighter. The bits and pieces I watched on Youtube, this drama looked weird and this is definitely the first time I see a merman in a drama so I felt strange lol However, yeah, it's Allen Ren and Dilireba, it's almost a must to watch this. Happy to know it's a good story. Btw, sure, I'm watching Under the Power now while waiting for the subs of The Blue Whisper. You said you're watching with quality fansubs, where pls?

I've newly been introduced to Allen Ren, and I'm checking his drama projects. This is a whole new concept to me, you know, I am even new to Chinese dramas, so I am not sure if I'm going to like it. I want to give it a try for Allen Ren. I like him so much. Plus, Dileraba, I saw her in TheLong Ballad. So, yeah... It seems interesting. Is the plot compelling? The effects are well-done? That's what matters the most to me. Apparently, the drama is still being subbed and I am willing to wait. But those who are already familiar with the story, do you think it's worth watching or worth the wait?

True. It is normal that to feel that it's unfinished business because drama doesn't show the rescue aftermath. The format of the drama is the main reasin for this. They want to tackle many cases, each episode there is a new case and risk management grim reapers are only trying to put suicidal people on the right track. Giving them a push to start all over again. Then, it's really up to them to fix their perspective of life. If the format was one case throughout the drama, I think we would have been able to see the healing process and the solutions the characters figured out after having been rescued from death. But because the drama is mainly addressing society, solutions for suicidal people were not shown or suggested because in real life, cases and reasons to attempt suicide are not standard, so solutions cannot be standard too. Solutions can only be solutions if they tackle the very specific reasons of each case. Every case has its solution, and solutions can't be generalized which I think is something drama has realized and avoided on purpose. Btw, your point of view is also interesting. Happy to have had this conversation with you.

Simply because so far it's been kind of a checklist and at this point in the story has already checked off 8 recurring…
First, the job of the risk management team is not to find solutions for those wanting to end their lives. Their job is to give comfort, hopefully they can contribute to their healing process. It was stated plainly in Ep7. It's up to the person to solve their problems after having been convinced by the words said to them. They are given a second chance to rethink and reflect. Eventually, it is up to them to attempt suicide again or to stay alive according to their standards of happiness. Certainly, it is not easy to stop anyone from committing suicide because these people have already been devoured by darkness. However, in some cases, all they need is a few words. Someone to stop them. Someone that cares. In this drama, many people were not saved but with the use of super powers. Well, it is understandable because the genre of the drama is Supernatural/Fantasy so yeah... Drama did try to say that super powers are not always the solution (Ep7) and grim reapers have to stop people from committing suicide with other means. One of which is heart-to-heart conversations and open minds. Apparently, JoonWoong represents this method in the drama. He is the human element drama is purposely focusing on to send its message to its viewers who are just normal people like him. Some people really, all they need is someone they can vent their thoughts and insecurities to and who doesn't judge them harshly. What I find interesting about the drama is that it's not targeting suicidal people alone but also the society. They are trying to raise awareness about the impact of their words and behaviors because not everyone can handle the pressure and the existing high standards. Most, if not all, of the cases in the drama decided to end their lives because of their society, and not simply because of their exclusovely personal reasons. The society these days lacks values, ethics and empathy. It is indeed an alarming situation that drama is trying to shed the light on. Through JoonWoong mainly, drama is addressing society not really suicidal people. This character is simple, but in my opinion is the most impactful. It is something I realized recently. At first, I thought he was weak compared to the other characters but wait if you think about... He is US. And that's how every single one of us has to be and has to act.

Ok I know it might sound weird but... what if JoongGil is actually GooRyeon's son? Someone said that in the webtoon, her son died before her. It's the same thing for JoongGil, right? I know the drama is hinting to the similarities in GooRyeon & Choi JoonWoong's personalities but I don't know I feel that it's too obvious if he's the reincarnation of her son.
