Viki comments are usually very toxic towards the FLs in dramas.
Yea I almost had a heart attack reading comments on our interpreter which is a Chinese drama being aired now. I will download that other dramas from a website when it wraps up. But viki I can’t. It’s too toxic for me to enjoy a drama. In contrast MDL seems tame now, since people make snide comments but not as vicious as Viki.
I can’t really stand it, when they air dramas of my fav actors at the same time. How am I supposed take CXX…
I want a scenario where the actor is both a despicable villain and a hopeless romantic in two different shows. I can think of Cersei in GOT and then queen in Sparta/300. And Robert Downey as antagonist in Oppenheimer and as Iron Man. It’s a fun experience
I am glad he rejected it. I read about the original and cannot envision him as the son of female lead. The original lady in French was 60. Especially now we have only the reverse where all male leads are about 12 years older, they only play women younger as romantic interest. At most it’s a niece. I cannot think of a single drama where the age difference is about 12/15 years and the female lead is the daughter. They need to pick 95 er and there are many of them who are amazing actors. Korea should not be Bollywood where female leads up to 5 years younger play moms of male leads and the female romantic lead is usually 35 years younger.
Like there are literally 3 characters she is together with who she won’t even end up with. Then what is the…
Or it could be based on a sanitized vsersion of maya mem sahib (Chinese dramas cannot be so explicit) which in turn was based on 1857 French book Madame Bovary. Unfortunately that was a complete tragedy. It was extremely tragic. The rose motifs remind me of that French book to be honest and that too had 3 or 4 men if memeory serves.
I thought it was going to be way better than Doom at your service given this is a netflix drama but i guess not!
I don’t like Netflix for their choice for East Asian content. For example three body problem has this super beautiful female character when nothing of the sort exists in the book. All of their (Netflix) dramas feature super beautiful and or super young heroins while male leads can be ugly sometimes. It’s distracting. I prefer Amazon Prime for Asian content. Indian web series on Amazon prime are also amazing. Netflix is really great for French, British, and Scandinavian content though. Lupin was amazing for instance and there are very good Swedish crime thrillers on Netflix.

I have seen so many eldest girls struggling with this on social media and in real life too. During our dad’s generation, because India had just achieved independence from the British rule, there were lots of hardships. The Indian boomers had to struggle a lot, building a nation plundered ruthlessly by the British, so it was a common story where the eldest brothers would sacrifice their salaries and support the younger siblings to get educated. These elder brothers would marry much later in life and would have lower paying jobs (less education) while their younger siblings would be earning well and settled earlier. Thankfully now times have changed. So I totally get what you went through…
Will be both by the time it ends, since it’s a noir thriller too. This is giving me Village Secret of Achiara vibes which was quite sad but a thrilller.
No matter how many bad people around him, it wouldn't frustrate me if FL was a physically and mentally strong…
People become weak after repeated traumas. It batters and hammers them. It’s easy to be strong in twenties but slowly by the time you are in your late thirties both health and mind weaken. So it’s a realistic portrayal. I am personally tired of “strong heroines” since it’s still victim shaming, it’s like saying if you strong enough you can overcome anything. Opposite is often true. Also it would be a character arc maybe she will become strong as the story progresses
Look at douban ratings for Chinese dramas. International audience are biased and hate downvote dramas with older women. They would love hidden love but hate dramas with older women. Douban ratings are also ranked on production value, direction and story. I rely on those or Avenue Xs thoughts since she gets technical on camera quality, angles etc. I ignore MDL ratings
