RANT to follow...It is disturbing that there is an expectation and actors are cheered on, for being more realistic…
In my humble opinion it’s just a way for PMY to justify her drastic weight loss of late. Like you said her hair is still intact. In fact if they shaved her head and kept her weight intact that would have been more believable. Most cancer patients don’t lose weight they in fact gain due to kidney issues and edema and water retention as a result. She is just going in for the heroin chic look which is a very harmful image.
People in the comments never heard of Christian Bale. (His doing fine now right!? Actors and the staff behind…
It’s not healthy. Tom Hanks gained and lost weight and he says he ended up developing type 2 diabetes as a result. Diabetes for women can have worse side effects including vision, limbs etc. yo-yo is not healthy at all. And women have died due to extreme weight loss such as Karen Carpenters. It’s also unnecessary since I know people who are undergoing chemotherapy and they have in fact (all of them) gained weight and lost hair due to fluid retention in the body. So this cancer thin patient is also mis perception.
Haven’t seen that but it’s one my favourite trope (heroine dies). I have watched so many Bollywood and other Indian movies, where men heroically dies and their females keep crying all throughout the movie, that this is a welcome change. So will check that out someday. I still love Amitabh Bachhan Mili and Omkara so I really do like this trope.
My opinion may be in the minority but I don’t want to see him in a romance. This usually means tons of deep pink lipstick, foundation and heavily pixelated face. For a person (esp male lead)in their mid thirties that gets a bit boring. And the main reason I am saying so is because he can do good dark gritty roles. He showed intense emotions in I Hear your voice. One of his best roles was as a North Korean defector in VIP. I would rather see him is those type of roles. His hymns of death was also quite good.
Can you imagine SHK with Cha Eun Woo, the anti older woman brigade (they are all ok with Ajusshis by the way)…
Ok so I hope people don’t attack me for this. I love noona romances and reverse age gap. But for me this age gap Kim nam Joo and CEW (if it’s romantic) would be weird it’s too much. I am just hoping he is her long lost son.
This is not creepy at all. It’s quite ok to be honest, the age difference is only 9 years. But of late, male…
My dearest, tale of nine tailed, EVE, Crazy Love, Dr John, Tell Me That You Love Me, My Lovely Boxer, Young Lady and Gentleman, Perfect Marriage Revenge and so many many more. Of late the trend of older much older heroes is increasing, in maths terms I meant the rate of change, not the magnitude itself.
A very boring drama because of the boring story!Want a famous female lead like song hye kyo or other famous actresses…
Can you imagine SHK with Cha Eun Woo, the anti older woman brigade (they are all ok with Ajusshis by the way) will come out like vultures and tear her apart. I like her too much to witness another drama like that.

That’s exactly what I am saying I am agreeing with you :) … sorry if my tone is not clear enough. I am so so tired of these 15 plus age difference we are seeing in Korean dramas these days.
Oh God just bleah all these ancient actors. This is becoming like creepy Hollywood yikes.
This is not creepy at all. It’s quite ok to be honest, the age difference is only 9 years. But of late, male female age difference is becoming wider and wider in k dramas, with the men being much older. Very soon it will become Bollywood where the heroes are in sixties and heroines are in their twenties.
I hope they cast a sweet child. I am at present loving the precious dog in Good Day to be a Dog. I like when cute children, pets or grannies/ grandpas are the main characters alongside the protagonists. It makes for fun watch.
The only series / drama that live up to the hype is GAME OF THRONES for me...
To me the ones to live up to hype since 2020 - Dune, stranger things, Poonyin Selvam, web series the Asur (i especially loved Arshad Warsi and the boy who was Asur). The overhyped Korean ones have all been super disappointing since 2018.
What I mean is the main plot not the plot drivers. There is always going to be a genre blend but I am bored of romance for romance sake. For example my dearest is a romance but it’s more a melodrama with very intense scenes.
When it comes to shows or movies based on a book or tv show, for the most part it won't be 1-1 when making it.…
I don’t think this holds true for books. If you read goodreads and follow booktube, very interesting and in depth criticism happen for these books. For example the much loved poppy wars have a lot of criticism even from fans because of the way that book deals with genocide. What book lovers don’t like is when the entire plot or the characters goes a complete change in movies to what its fans have loved for years.

If you read these books, the change is not about the character but just mainstream media obsession with young and beautiful women. Period. In Outlander, the female lead is a much married nurse who tended to soldiers in the war. Her dilemma with the time travel and her married status forms much of the narrative. Why do they chose a younger actress I don’t understand. Similarly the male lead is a Scottish lad who is thrown into politics and too young and he grows throughout the multiple books in the series. And why do the male leads remain exactly as ugly as they are in the books? A lot of stuff is also changed in books for example the Witcher series is another prime example of how the story got completely butchered. The only story which has remained consistent with teh authors vision and the fans is the Dune, Timothy chalamet and the French director have done a wonderful job brining the whole planet of arrakis to life and the characters are exactly how the books described them. Very well done.

Usually I do. Because there is a lot of beauty bias in movies etc where the males leads can be ugly but female leads are always gorgeous. Example - hermione in Harry Potter was supposed to have bushy eyebrows and large protruding teeth and she was supposed to be someone who was loved by everyone despite how she looked. She does get a makeover in goblets of fire but even then she is not a stunner. But guess what they chose the prettiest girl they could find for that role. I was so disappointed. Same for Katniss Everdeen who was supposed to be mousy looking but they chose the most stunning actress they could find in hunger games. In Daina Gabaldons outlander the female lead in the book is at least 7 years older, but in the drama Netflix the male actor is actually older. You can see the pattern then are reducing ages of female leads and beautifying them for the shows. It ruins what the plot and character growth shows in the books themselves. I shudder to think what if poppy wars rin or Mistborn (both which feature heroines who are known for their battle hardiness not beauty) get adaptations
