I love this series, but its gone from a show that entertains me each week to one that stresses me out more with…
I have been putting this drama on watch hold. But your comments made me want to watch it. I looooveee a quintessential over the top nonsensical super complicated Thai Lakorn and this one seems to be it. Your comments are very nicely put too. I was like how can they stretch the episodes but not based on your comments it seems I will be getting a lot of the type of nonsense I love in Thai dramas. There is something really escapist about these dramas. I will begin watching this drama now. I would have to get a subscription for this month to watch so I was not watching it. But now I will buy the monthly package.
What We know about the plot so far ; FL has Nothing good in her life… she was cheated by her ex bf, she doesn’t…
I am hoping for a noona romance since off late all of the dramas feature men who are considerably older than the female leads in the k drama land. So this will be a welcome change. But a good noona romance not the wishy washy type. Example why her where the male lead had no role at all…
I don’t like when actors are forced to do this. It plays havoc on their bodies. Example Elizabeth Taylor for a movie due to which she landed into lifelong health problems including severe diabetes, vidya Balan for dirty picture she ended up having severe thyroid issues, Tom hanks he got diabetes. I don’t like when production houses treat actors like commodities with no care for the personal well being of actors. I hope he is able to bounce back without health issues.
Why is he wearing a skirt? This dress is so absurd and this photo made my day. I was feeling glum until I chanced upon this photo. Now I am super amused… We need more such funny content on this website 😄😄😄
I actually ended up liking this version better than the Korean version. I'm still not sure why. I felt more emotionally…
Same here. Actors look more like humans in J dramas and less like Barbie ken doll. K movies and k dramas are way too commoditied in my humble opinion. Japanese stories are more heartfelt. One exception is the Korean movie Paradise and handmaiden both of which were very well done.
I am a person in my thirties who has a child and who hates this drama. The reason is that the act of cheating itself since lead is a man was glorified. There was no remorse, no retribution for all he made her wife experience. On top of that he was so heartless that he was willing to let her die the first time around and even then the writer did not show him is a negative light. I could go on. What’s makes this sad is this is how many women beyond 50 have to put up with because they feel they have no option left. The writer also kind of validated that since the female lead did not remarry. Of course society deems menopausal women should be sent to pasture how can they remarry. What value would they provide to a guy. If she is old she must stay single instead of being a burden to a man. I could go on with how regressive this drama was.
I have my own personal rating system. * Below 7 is genuinely bad* 7 - 7.5 depends on your taste and likeability…
I checked and most of them are not my cup of tea barring Glory, Untamed and Navillera. I don’t like some K drama male leads like Song Joong Ki (hated descendants and Vincenzo), Lee Joong Gi (liked him in arang and scholar who walks the night. Don’t like him in non fantasy shows). So it rules out options. I did really like good mother and bad mother though. Usually I don’t like shows with moms, since I am a mom of a young child and don’t really like how moms are shown in Asian shows. It’s a personal bias again. I prefer how Indians show their moms and Taare Zamein Par, Mother India (1956), Mom (2018) are my favourite movies. I skip mom shows if it’s East Asian.

Crash landing. That drama has been giving me diabetes. Goblin which is very problematic woody Allen style (old man preying on a very young girl and he was an adult). I could go on… see how reductive I am making those dramas. Weightlifting which is super silly. Weightlifting women don’t look like models. Even though I respect people’s choices something in them make me unreasonably angry. I liked untamed though…

I haven’t liked a single drama rated more than 8.5 the stories are cliche and I avoid them. The only high rated drama I ever liked was Navillera. Conversely when I read books I am a cliche reader. I like all books which is rated 4 above on good reads. Especially popular books which intellectuals rated low such as Sarah J Mass. So I have realised I am a snobby drama watcher who hates popular cliche dramas. And I am a fuzzy reader who only likes cliche popular books.
Typical. Ratings slightly drop for no real reason, but cringiest romcoms always get 8,5. Okay.
I have my own personal rating system. * Below 7 is genuinely bad * 7 - 7.5 depends on your taste and likeability for a particular actor/actress * 7.5 - 8 genuinely good dramas with unconventional story which people have a beef with. Example noona romances or thrillers or heartfelt slice of life * 8 - 8.5 - average good * 8.5 - 9 overrrated dramas rated only because the actress is very young and pretty (like Zhao Lu Si) or the male lead is super popular * 9 onwards usually not bad but most fluffy idol stories As you must realise from my comments, for me a drama rated 8.5 and above is a hard pass. I also try to avoid those rated below 7.
Well then i hope she is ready to leave her job and be a full time house wife and child bearer because that is…
He does have an unyielding face. Close set eyes. Very handsome very talented and charismatic for sure. But his face has that hard look so I can believe this old article. Having said that it’s his personal life. Many men and religious women believe in this. So it is what it is.
MDL have replaced the Korean trailer with the international one. The Korean trailer made the drama look fun, the…
Kind of sort of yes. The blander it is, the more the international audiences like them. Otherwise why would secretary Kim be popular. More edgy and more heartfelt dramas are popular in domestic market. Example Our Blues was a huge hit in Korea but international audience got bored. I assume marketing teams have access to all sorts of analytics including social media listening tools so they probably know what sells where.
I never liked Yoona. But she is looking for cute. That scene where she speaks Japanese was too good. I am loving this. I hope it does not tank in the middle episodes like many k dramas tend to do.
Nah it’s a valid suspicion, hell even the previews been very mediocre if I’m being generous. I got all faith…
I liked Kim since before she was famous. Liked her in handmaiden a lot. Korean dramas unlike Japanese dramas don’t go complete edgy which is needed for horror genre. They don’t even go camp like American, Indian or Thai shows. They also don’t get creepy like British or Swedish shows… so I am nervous. I hope they don’t start with horror and end with emotional melodrama which is what a lot of k dramas do. I hope our lovely actress delivers … I too have faith in her
