It’s peoples expectations of male actors. People cast opinion polls in MDL on the hottest youngest “nations sister”, nothing to do with acting. But no male actors cannot be pretty. Why is it difficult to understand that young girls also like to see good looking men on screen. As someone in her mid thirties I am actually so glad opportunity exist for young girls to view the type of actors they want to see on screen due to the OTT platforms. When I was in my early teens I only had access to Bollywood heroes in their fifties, with big bellies (Govinda for instance) romancing younger girls in their twenties. I used to wait for ever for Hollywood movies to drop. While my guy pals always raved about the “newest, youngest, hottest” Bollywood babe. It’s so double standard really.
Cha Eun woo reminds me of Chris Evans when he was young (in his early twenties I mean). People would never look beyond his pretty face and awesome physique and totally dismiss him as an actor. But as Chris Evans has aged and his prettiness has reduced, he has given good performances. Cha Eun woo, I found did ok in the later half of rookie historian. I feel that since he is a idol, and has an “idollily loved by 100,000 girls” image to protect is unable to be too edgy or give his best. I do feel he is a good actor compared to some other good looking boys (they who shalt not be named nonetheless) 😊

Nope 😊. I stay in Asia Pacific, but originally from a place very fast East India, very close to the Myanmar border. Bengali people have stayed for centuries in West Bengal, tripura, assam, Meghalaya (Indian states). In fact the Royal family of Tripura is Bengali. So the Bengali diaspora is not only from Bangladesh 😊.

Is my language they say “sneho nimnogami”, which means that love and affection flows downwards, and the child never loves the parents and sacrifices as much as the parent does, this is the natural way. But it’s sad is it not… 😔

I had a premonition two episodes back that he would be sad. He sacrificed his whole life for her, he has no friends, no money, no career and no family. So it must have felt like a sucker punch to him.
5 eps left i get it if writer wants to make minwoo evil till the end and reaps what he sows, however tae sumi???…
I don’t want to be judgemental here, in face I don’t ever do that. But for a mom to never want to even check in on the child she gave birth to… she did not even know what she looked like. she is a what she is and her behaviour appears to be consistent with how the author of this drama has portrayed so far and it maybe that there is no redemption. Min woo’s character is quite real to me since I have met such colleagues in real life. Min Woo gives me such strong Deja Vu.
Watch lost, it’s a masterpiece. Extremely slow and at times unhappy though.
It’s a slow burn and non explicit because 1) she is married 2) both going through existential crisis. They don’t do anything inappropriate at all. Its a hard hitting drama not a feel good one, but a very good drama.
I don't know why people are complaining about the kissing sceneWhat were people expecting?
My theory is that the director is purposely downplaying any chemistry between actors. This is because the female lead may change. Thus this season will be more prosaic. If netizens get too invested, that may jeopardise commercial prospects for season two (maybe this is what producers and director are thinking). Just a theory though since I am hoping I am wrong.

Awesome a fellow book reader on MDL. I keep looking for people who quote from books. I am a massive Agatha Christie fan and read almost all of her 70 plus works. I love her Egyptian inspire series the most especially “Death comes at the end” and “five little pigs”
Sounds like the Korean version of “orange is the new black” and “prison break”. Someone down here commented Agatha Christie and I hope it is. Even squid game did remind me of “And Then There were none”, which was written in 1939. Especially the last twist in Squid Game on who the main villain was very reminiscent of “and then there were none”. Another plot similarity “squid game” and Agatha book was that “squid game” was based on a childhood Korean game whilst “and then there were none” was based on a childhood nursery rhyme role played by kids in 1910s to 1930s (that rhyme should be massively inappropriate now though), similarity three) squid game and the book, both the events of the plot take place in a secluded island from which no one can escape.

Trust me it feels ancient when you are studying which is the most unfun thing ever. I feel only people in their twenties should do unfun things. For all things fun though like watching dramas one only gets old when one is 100. 😌

Oh wow did not know that. So the thing is at my grand old age of mid thirties, I am giving a finance exam. It’s quite horrible really studying. Once I finish my exam, I will start watching it.

There is a reason why I am not watching this drama love galaxy and alchemist of souls. Both have sequels. I will wait till the first season drops then watch. Hopefully love galaxy gives us a date for part 2, then I can watch it. I do like Zhao Lusi a lot. Alchemy of souls I am not watching since I don’t trust Hong Sisters to not bungle up a drama in the last 15 minutes of the drama
I also agree about Lee Jun-Ho character, it’s very unidimensional. The contrast (character building by the author I mean, not the actor himself. I think he is doing a great job) between his character and her character is too stark. It feels like the author took two years to write her character and 2 hours to write his character 🤷♀️. “Let me just hurry up and download a template prototype of male lead from the internet and give him a name. He will be her love interest and nothing else, finish”. (I feel like that’s what the author thought)
