A bit hard for me to watch if they change the actress. I get attached to the characters and how they are portrayed especially the key characters. Imagine if they changed Daniel Radcliffe as Harry Potter. So I won’t be watching this one. Which is good since I am planning to binge watch Manifest from season 1 on Netflix in November so won’t have any time left to watch anything else anyways.
Indian civilisations are pretty old with archeological excavations proving that they date as old as Neolithic age so that’s about 6500 bc. Mesopotamia is Sumerian civilisation which is present day Iraq not Persia (which is more of an Iron Age civilisation). Also before all the white people brutally killed almost all of the humans and committed severe genocide on a mass scale (maybe tens of millions people) in North and South America they also had very old civilisation such as the Mayan empire. So please get your facts right. As far as I know Korea (North Korea) also had older civilisation.
I find Webtoon remakes superficial and have not been able to finish most of them. Which is why I have actually been veering away from k dramas since 2020. I am not throwing shade on anyone but I feel it must be hard to convert a picture based format into a good script. Also drama writers seem to dumb down the content since it’s based on a younger demographic and I don’t know why they do that. Because movies and shows based on novels for the young have never been dumbed down example - Narnia, Lemony Snickets, Harry Potter, Alice in wonderland (just to name a few). The only one I liked was business proposal and I think that was mainly due to the female lead and her colleagues at work. since they imbued so much charm into their role, it was a pleasure to watch. The male lead was so so. The grandfather was super awesome.
I feel bad for shk people are hating on her so much what did she do to you guys don't be surprised if she kill…
Totally agree and it’s always women who get the hate and from fellow women too. We don’t know the mental state of the celebs and they may be in a vulnerable position and anything might trigger. The worst part is when a celeb commits suicide people either deny or get all religious and say that the person will go to hell (Ike literally that what I read in the comments of a said celeb on MDL who committed suicide). Well if you guys are religious and do believe in the tenets of your religion please stop maligning a person who you don’t know and have never met. Like literally all religions say this and very clearly at that.
I think it’s more that she does not fit in with the mold non Koreans want for their older actresses. Outside…
Yes but people don’t realise that sometimes actors have no say in where they are casted. Either they get rejected during auditions or do not get those kinds of scripts. Clearly Koreans love her since she gets a lot of endorsements and they see value in her in romance. It’s non Korean audience which has a problem since it does not fit in with their own idea about how a women should be beyond 40. “Horrors how dare an older older woman act in romance and that too younger men. Meanwhile we will adore and endorse men who do the same”. She is very Korea centric in her choice and she should be since she is a Korean actress first and foremost. Whereas people are gunning for younger actresses to be in romance. I felt the romance in attorney woo was totally not needed.
I'm surprised to see many criticisms of SHK's poor acting, despite her being considered a top actress in Korea…
I think it’s more that she does not fit in with the mold non Koreans want for their older actresses. Outside of korea and China it’s rare for fortyish women to be cast in romantic roles and that too with younger guys. Whilst people all over the world are used to seeing men decades older than female leads. So I am assuming it causes a cognitive dissonance and peoples reactions get very vicious and visceral. You will never see such reaction for Korean men romancing women far younger than themselves and these people lambast song hye Kyo all over the internet with extremely mean comments.
all this hate for han sohee reminds me how much netizens like to hate on successful women because of internalized…
I feel like running an analytics software on this platform to look at keyword associations used for women who don’t fit the mold (sweet and cute and super young) and the hatred and vitriol they get in this MDL website. I do know it’s possible with web scraping but don’t know what script to run. But to cut a long story short I agree with you on extreme misogyny on this website and I am willing to bet that anyone who runs a trend analysis and key word search on MDL can prove it easily.
For once can we see two very pretty actresses being friends. We have seen this done before in Rational life a Chinese drama where the newbie girl is very good friends with the female lead. Both SHK and Han So Hee have amazing screen presence. Han So Hee is a good actress and has shown she can do non bitchy roles very well such as my name and nevertheless. I have been friends with women a decade older and a decade younger, and I want this to be shown without all of the cat fights or endless plotting and the Meanness. Please k dramaland show us a good women being friends drama for once.
