This show is probably getting review-bombed judging by the rating.
Yes in usual MDL fashion where they will downvote drama if the female lead is older, or has a very aggressive character within the drama. Only pretty young women or actresses with extreme good acting prowess (Park Eun Bin) get good reviews. I am sure even Park Eun Bin despite being such an amazing actress will get downvoted once she is 35.

Why don’t you watch Indian movies then. Women will have a screen time of less then 10 percent. Are only used as objects and are shown being mistreated by people. The masterpiece is Kabir Singh. Maybe you are in the wrong drama provenance country. Also best part 60 year old men romancing underage women or women at most in their early twenties.
Cha Eun Woo is pretty but his acting is questionable but hey you know what Korea puts a lot of focus on appearance…
This I totally agree with 100 💯. I have the same problem with attorney woo. She has been presented as this fluffy purple unicorn with zero flaws and dearest heavenly goddess (Attorney Woo not Oh Soo Jae) that people fall in love with. It does disservice to the larger neurodivergent community. It’s also flawed story telling from a technical point where you only have one god like character. Both oh Soo Jae and attorney woo are literally idolising the main character and it’s just too much. You are an Indian I believe right? This is why I moved away from Bollywood since I am tired of larger than life Salman and Sharukh Khanisms. This is why stranger things is so iconic. Trust me on this people will remember stranger things even 15 years from now and dramas like this and movies which only focus on one character will never stand the test of time.

I think a love interest is important. Since that person who is in love with the female lead is the only beacon of hope for an otherwise extremely gloomy life. If people believe that only men can romance younger women then that’s a different conversation piece that I don’t want to get into. This character needs to be in love with Oh Soo Jae since it makes sense for her character arc to have one Anchor Point in her life. But the guy does not make sense. Even in the scenes where she is not around I still found him with zero personality. I did like him in tales of nokdu though.
Chairman Choi is sure a coward by committing suicide. He talk about how only weak people would make amend or trying…
Don’t forget hitler committed suicide after killing more than 5 million people. All “human monsters” are cowards. Also to clarify I am not at all talking about people suffering from mental health Illnesses or other social problems who do decide to end life that way. It’s a terrible loss to tthe world when they do so. And they are never never cowards. This is just a specific comment about this really monstrous character in this drama.
That’s because I think a lot of people especially non asians do not understand why children continue to bow down to their parents. The heavy expectations put forth by parents and children having no choice. I actually do know a friend whose mom is just like SITR. It was not even that the guy was younger, it’s just that it was a boy that the girl chose to marry. She threatened suicide so many times. She finally gave in after 10 years that too reluctantly.

Yes I agree. But I fail to understand “why him” the male lead in this drama. He is terrible as an actor, nice looking but not drop dead gorgeous. Even more good looking actors can act unlike him where he seems to just recite lines.
kind of disappointed, ep 1 and 2 were amazing but they ruined the thrill later -_- But I have to give some credit…
I have loved her since temperature of love and another miss on. In temperature of love she played the listless person with a existential crisis amazingly well. In miss oh, there is a scene where she fights with her mom and I did get super emotional in that scene. It was so well acted.

Understand. But he lacks in both acting and screen presence which is double whammy. Cha eunwoo did well in rookie historian. There is a scene where he comes to know he is adopted and he talks to the king and that was a very well acted scene. Even in the last episode when he tell Goo Hae Ryung he is going to take a stand and possibly endanger himself, that is also very well done. He did the job of a sheltered neglected prince very well. Also I don’t find Cha Eun woo pretty. I tend to like looks like Mr Gu from my liberation notes. There are many pretty actors in k drama land and not everyone gets a chance to be honest. Korea is a very competitive society so it puts focus on acting, looks and media image all of the three. Actors can get canceled and they don’t survive the industry if they are just a pretty face with zero social capital. I think social capital is what drama producers look for, the actors who will get the views.
Why is the male lead so unappealing. I am going to continue watching by skipping scenes where he comes on screen because I like this otherwise. I did the same thing with FLAW where I skipped the cheater couples. But I still liked the cheater couples as actors. This guy here oh my god, they could have used a CGI character and even that would have acted better. When he has Dialogues it appears like he is reciting from the script book. It’s cringe on multiple levels. People say Cha Eun Woo is bad but I have watched him in Rookie Historian and he was really good. This production house should fire their casting director since otherwise this would have been a great drama and would have done better ratings wise.
I just watched because of the female lead she is gorgeous. Every montage of her is gorgeous. She reminds me of Shin Hye Sun (looks since Shin Hye Sun is an amazing actress). Drama is boring though. But points for showing an understanding male lead.
Guys are we sure it’s august 10? It’s 2022 august10 right? not 3022 august 10? I will not be surprised if it airs in 3022 or when human kind finally settles on mars.

Yes. Even I regret making fun of old aunties when I was in my teens. Never remember making fun of old uncles, and now I am like why was I ever so insensitive. But it’s maybe because there is so much misogyny and it’s only when you get older and stronger do you not get swayed by popular public opinion. But 15 years ago, I did not see such viciousness hurled at women when I was in my teens that I see now. We used to be in love with older celebs such as Jennifer Anniston, Sarah Jessica Parker, Gwen Stefani, Eva Longoria and wanted to be like them when we grew up. It was not this toxic.

The 20 something Girls will age even more so, every decade life expectancy gets added by a decade. I know since I was an actuarial analyst for life insurance and I have looked at millions of age data. Any girl 20 year old now will live to 90 at least and a person like me in 30s will live to 80. That’s the ultimate irony the young girls who hate so much on older women are going to be far far far older than the women now when they eventually age 🙂. Talk about life coming to a full circle.
The way Netflix forced LGBT+ aspects into the drama because it is a Netflix original. And that everyone clapped…
I agree there is a lot of fairy tale aspect to this drama Instead of a sweet and sour approach. It is sweet all the time. For example showing the struggles that a single parent feels while parenting an autistic child. Parents of my friends (their siblings are autistic) told me that they have not slept in years and that their health is failing due to constant care giving. And there is a lot of conflict with my friends parents and them since they expect them to pick up the care giving after they are gone. Some of my friends have very young children of their own and this constant guilt tripping from their parents has made them suffer from depression. Few other friends decided to sacrifice their chance of having a family, a fulfilling career or marriage since they have to take care of their siblings when parents are gone. And I can see how some of these friends feel so wistful sometimes. It’s a complex social problem and care giving challenge should be addressed especially when you are making a drama about special abilities and this is where I think the drama “Dear my friends” shines. The attorney who is jealous of her but they could have shown how difficult the Korean system is for non brilliant people and why it’s the student suicide capital of the world. It is also very homophobic but that’s of course what a lot of Asian societies (barring Thailand I think) are. So showing both aspects really would have made this a “classic” and “critically acclaimed” drama. At the moment sometimes some of these nuances are lost.
