I think what frustrated me most about the last episode was not only was it told in flashbacks adding next to nothing…
If you are totally frustrated by this story and want a substitute and are a reader also try anyone but you by Jennifer Cruise. It’s a masterpiece book written in 1996 but has been loved for 25 years. The male lead is a doctor and younger and their dialogues, their interactions and super fun. There is also one of the cutest dog stories with a basset hound. It will give you so many many happy feels. I know this is a drama website but I can’t help myself since I love books more 🙂.

Me too... And then again I watch it next week as soon as it airs :p
Exactly its serialised content delivery at its finest. However this sometimes mean character arches don’t make sense.

isnt korean's acting always so real o_o
For the most part yeah. But Sometimes no. Some really highly rated dramas I find them suspect. For example (my humble opinion, beloved summer felt like actors are sleepwalking). This drama particularly feels like pmy forgot she was PMY and SK forgot he was SK. It feels so real. Which is why I think some people are angry with this drama. They don’t realise it probably but they are emotional about the characters. So I am angry with the drama direction of story too but I love it. It’s my best since it’s OK not to be ok.

This drama is the same for me it’s addicting. It’s like those weekly comic stories which used to be published in 1950s where people would eagerly wait for each episode and keep discussing. This drama has sparked so many discussions on this forum it’s no joke.

I am loving the drama so far. It’s so different. I love how the acting is and it’s so real. I keep waiting to see what’s next. But I want it to be a breakup drama where the leads are not together. They both are really not in the same place in life. The female lead also does not love the male lead she is too self interested. But can FLAW please give us a proper breakup which is clean, done with style and zero angst and also end with showing that most characters are happy and sunny with their choices (not the cheater couple. They need to see some angst).

This is exactly when I thought she has been treating him as a booty call not as a rebound even. I remember you…
He will be happy if he offloads daddy and his lady. Honestly though never thought I will say this, nevertheless was more wholesome. People realised their mistakes and came around and they ML and FL always had each other’s back.

I really like the character of the male lead. So I am happy as long as they show him free of his dad. It won’t be that difficult for him to find another person in my honest opinion. So I will be happy with an outcome where there is a breakup. I am watching it to mainly see if he gets the courage to cut the umbilical cord finally. Female lead is best shown succeeding in her career and going places maybe that UN thing they talked about in the first episode and staying single. She will frustrate whichever dude falls for her NGL 😄

To be honest, none of them are bad. The main culprit is their working hours and travelling nature of work. This remind me of romantic novels of characters who are in US navy seal with lot of dysfunctional relationships around. Did you ever watch homeland, there also everyone was crazy with genuine mental health issues. I think it’s not them but their very demanding job. They literally don’t have the time to connect or communicate. And the cause of all their problems is the time, which is why the show started with the ex director retiring and his wife looking oh so very very happy.

Honestly though we have all been there in real life. Holier thou people who think they are doing you a favour by dating you and getting outraged with you when you expect more from them. Their reasoning being if we are not cheating and we are steadfast we are great. But such people are frustrating to be in relationships with. In real life you really have to go out of your way sometimes for the other person. A relationship is not a balance sheet where you log your debits and credits. Which is why I can no longer root for this calculative FL. But then I love it like this, since I am ok with not liking lead characters it makes those dramas have chutzpah and attitude.

Does not look like from the trailers. Most likely there will be 3.75 more episodes of angst and tears and zero scenes together, with them reconnecting maybe in the last 3 mins in case they get together 🙂. I am being prepared for this since now it’s something I cannot walk away from until it finishes.

The way I view it the male lead is hot, cute and nice and deserves someone who roots for him. So the drama should show us a positive payoff for him by making him disengage with his dad and not end up with the female lead. I shudder to think what their life would be together with the very cold FL. The FL should go for a dry older man much older than her like a college professor or someone who will provide her the 2.2 kids and not make any demands on her person.

who all thought hakyung invited the dad along to call his bluff and didn't actually intend for him to visit Siwoo?…
This is exactly when I thought she has been treating him as a booty call not as a rebound even. I remember you saying why intimate moments are not being showing but then that would have made this even more sordid. She has not even stood up for this person not even once in the whole show. At this point I am happy to see them breakup. But again I am glad to see a female lead like this who we actually don’t root for. After watching angelic women this is a change for sure. He would be shortchanged massively if he ends up with her. And I am on for the ride to see them break up it’s a very interesting but frustrating show. Also interesting to see how he breaks up with his dad since that would be shown for sure

You know I am actually liking this not showing that the cheaters are bad. Sometimes in real life good people do…
That being said I am loving this drama. I don’t know why but it’s nice to see non lovable female leads. It’s such a delightful drama for us to keep analysing the characters. I never thought after nevertheless I will sympathise with SK character more but there you go. PMY is doing a wonderful job of giving us a super cold, unlovable heroine. I literally cannot find the usual bubbly chirping PMY in JHK at all. It is hard for actors to play these characters since they have to internalise them and then emote them. It must be mentally heavy for PMY after shooting pack up. Which is why I think she fell so sick after shooting this drama. Let’s appreciate this too.

Ki Jun and his wife get on my damn nerves and they deserve their problems, they both cheated. I hope these writers…
You know I am actually liking this not showing that the cheaters are bad. Sometimes in real life good people do bad things. What’s frustrating for me is that all characters are learning from past mistakes but the female lead is not. She is so passive. Even when he gets injured at work she is still pretending to be unshaken. It shows that other peoples opinion matter to her too much. She has a very self centric approach to life and I hope she opens up a little. It’s getting tiring. Imagine being in relationship with such a person “I can’t meet now”, “ let’s not do this”, “we can’t go there”, “I have to work now”, “let’s not talk now”. Her first and second relationship are both like that. Personally I would not date people like this, if all you are doing is following up on them to see if they deign to give some time to me. I will move on like really and find someone or friends even who value my time. It’s so easy to get into a rabbit hole relationship where the other person treats their partner like a personal assistant at their beck and call. But these relationships cause lasting damage in real life.

Should I watch this? Is this any good? Seems to have a very bad rating on here for K-drama standards.
But please don’t trust MDL ratings. Some really highly rated dramas are horrible and dramas rated not well have been great. It’s highly subjective. My rule of thumb is that if it has done well in Korea then the drama itself maybe good to watch. This is doing well in Korea now. There are frustrating elements though 1) the female lead is passive 2) the main leads get little screen times 3) a lot of angst and sadness all around. Even I am waiting for some positive payoff. I would suggest let it finish airing 16 episodes and then decide to watch or not watch. Also this is NOT A ROMCOM IT IS NOIR

Si-Woo's accident appears to be used as a health scare only and to help Hakyung realize her true feelings and…
It’s a massive pet peeve even for books for me. Sudden killing of favourite characters or sudden injury. the Little Women did this well in my opinion and it was not a sudden death. And yes Melanie’s death in gone with the wind is what brought the book to an amazing close. But that’s it. If this drama takes it to a drastic place I will drop it. I just can’t when authors do this.

I have a few things to say about the writing of this drama which is 1) sudden tonal shift from romcom to noir 2) using plot devices such as sudden disability which I don’t like 3) endorsing super unhealthy work habits. But the acting of the leads in this drama is so so so fabulous that I am totally invested into the characters. I feel that PMY’s best chemistry is with SK. They literally look like a man and his woman. This is so unlike the usual Disney PG Ken Barbie feel we get with kdrama couples. I loved her pairing with Ji Chang Wook in healer and never thought she could do better. Did not like secretary Kim (please it’s my opinion) since it felt staged. But this drama oh my god, I never thought they both could share such an intense presence on screen. This is what makes me keep coming back over and over again, since both the actors have really become Lee Shi Woo and Jin Ha Kyung in my mind. Nevertheless chemistry was great but this is honestly so much more poignant and intense.

In Hindi/Urdu it’s “aap” for formal. “Tum” for semi formal/ intimate. “Tu” is rude or for kids. Growing intimacy is shown when couples switch from “aap” to “tum”. This is why a romantic relationship is also termed as “journey from aap to tum”. Similar To Korean, the verb endings also change as per formality. It also changes as per the gender of the person. Hence I was curious to understand if this was a similar cultural practice or not. Thank you for answering me 🙂.

He started saying tangshin this episode. From what I understand it’s an intimate pronoun right? I wish the Netflix translator told us this. In Korean we don’t use pronouns often right ?
