I completely agree. There’s not necessarily a moment he fell for her. His initial interest just kept on growing until it turned into proper love. Just like he said: a spark, very sudden, but the feelings of love are deeper and deeper.

I’ve reread the novel and rewatched my favourite scenes so many times now…. It’s like Go Go Squid withdrawals all over for me. I can’t wait for You Are My Glory, need to find out if there’s a novel for it too.

This drama was simply so enjoyable, the book too. I hope there’ll be a season 2, but unlikely. They might ask the author to perhaps write the script without actually writing the novel, that’s the only possibility I can think of.

Ah, I agree with that. As a relatively young actress, kiss scenes might not be that easy for her. I really enjoyed the Legends, but APL is so so for me. The plot is such a let down given the gorgeous visuals.

Beauty Inside is one of the best dramas I’ve ever watched. The chemistry between the leads is unreal. Such an amazing drama! My husband enjoyed it as well. Recommended!

But she’s initiated kisses many times, and I think it’s a cultural thing that the girl shouldn’t be portrayed as wanting intimacy because that’s sl**ty behaviour in people’s opinion, unless she’s tipsy or every drunk. I know for people not from Asian communities this sounds crazy, but it is so. I’ve read and listened to the opinions of the people in China, and it seems the less experienced and good in bed a girl is, the better… I personally find it funny, but oh well haha

I think because I read the book before the drama, I was waiting to see these hints, haha. AOL is Ashes of Love (a summer drama from around 2-3 years ago that was super popular)

In Ep 27, there’s a moment where they show that in the morning there are some naked legs underneath the duvet (naked legs were used in AOL too to signify love making) + the love “bite” on her face. In the book, she has a hickey on her neck instead after he kept on biting her there during sex.

I think because they don’t have that much room for including all of the small plot narratives due to the number of episodes, the writers only allude to the new found intimacy of Tong Yao & Lu SiCheng.

That scene is them making love for the first time. Smiling thought she got pregnant and Lu SiCheng was already getting ready to be a daddy and a fiancé/husband, only to find out it was stress that delayed her menstruation, he was rather disappointed :( I think Smiling was both relieved and disappointed. She wasn’t against getting a fiancé, lol

I’ve read the novel, yet I’m still super excited to see what they’ll be showing in the drama. Episode 27 really surprised me! I hadn’t thought they’d include “that” scene. Very curious if they included the follow up from that scene.

Her Private Life is soooo good. I keep rewatching it because it’s just really well done. The chemistry between the leads is insane.

HJP and NDS worked their relationship out when they had that very bloody fight.

I agree her works shouldn’t be erased because of her private life, but the government in China has a very strong stance on surrogacy so I don’t know if she could make a comeback. As a woman, I don’t understand how she could leave the children she wanted herself, hence I’m unlikely to ever become a fan, but I’m not an anti either.

Yeah, I’ve read the novel many times. It’s not her being awkward the problem, it’s her acting awkward that’s awkward. It felt forced, but it’s not a crime. As we gain more experience, we grow, it’s the same for actors. As long as they do their best, I won’t dislike the drama.

Given the controversies in her personal life, it’s unlikely she’ll ever come back to acting, and I don’t know if I’d be able to watch new stuff given that I wouldn’t have any attachment to the drama as I do with O2O.
