I understand. Well one is about wolf children and more about finding one's place to fit in and about being a mother; the other is very realistic in its portrayal of social inequalities, I would say Flanders no inu is actually pretty harsh, but the bond it showed was very beautiful, it's based on a novel by Ouida. I suppose in a way such movies do test one's patience but sometimes the feelings are worth it. So you never watch anything tear-jerking?
Yes I have dedicated myself wholly to Monster for the time being, it warrants full attention.

:blushes: thank you! well I'd go mad if I didn't try to blog about it, I really want to fully appreciate it. It deserves the attention.
Sometimes it's not that, even, though the psychological development in good dramas is important. But even in generic romcoms it's HOW interactions between people are done that determine whether I will like the romcom or not. I just think there ar emany forms in whuich characters" can be enjoyed. I agree with you. It's the characters progression to something, the way they achieve something that is often very rewarding and satisfying to watch. it;s also uplifting sometimes, because just maybe we can do something like that too.

well by fluffy I mean the sort of shoujo romantic comedies like kamisama hajimemashita with characters who have big eyes as opposed to more realistic art of Monster. I have a few good mmovies to recommend but they are of the heavier sort. Wolf Children is a beautiful sotyr but quite sad. And Flanders no inu is painful but beautiful too.

Wee Light scheme was smart but based on a ill-conceived sense of justice. It probably depends on how we view justice, though. I discovered later that he was voiced by the same voice who did Okabe. I did like Light's voice and later I discovered why. heh. I think so, yes. Most of the time I pay more attention to how the character develops. no matter what genre I'm watching, I"m always more into characters. But sometimes it;s so well woven together that it;s about both. Like in Monster. Plot is intriguing, the narrative is conducted in a way that some info is postponed until later so I keep having many questions to keep me watching but I want to know how the character will handle stuff. will they reunite? will they be killed (hopefully not) will they team up?

I get what you mean but nah, it;s not going to happen. Monster is already my style because it;s a comprehensively human story. But death note isn;t my style because it's not so complex or humane as monster. My interest is in stories with a heart. Monster has a heart. Death note doesn't. It;s not about the dark twisted ambience at all, it;s about characters with whom I can identify at least a little. I could never bond with Light in the way I bond with Tenma and other characters. Once I finisb with monster nothing will change in my viewing taste but I will hope to see more things with a heart, and not just flashy. I may watch galactic heroes myself, i hear it;s quite an epic saga and may be well written. But I want stories with a heart. Your English is fabulous, I understand you very well :) But of course when it comes to dramas, vessel of Sand is what I really want to watch too, except

soinds good. I have it on my OTW as well. It really sounded like a nice flick. As I say Bokami... Monster is an example of a mature work of art to which some marauding people need to grow up to appreciate. I just wish the writer got a recognition for this or something. It;s an excellent work, despite perhaps some tiny omissions. Why would he maintainCzechislovakia in 1997, when the country dissolved into czech Republic and Slovakia in early 1990s? There are some omissions ther but these are details. The story itself, the characters...agh. Anime doesn't get better than this. and it transcends genres. It has a bit of everything in it and the problem it poses with relation to children so important too and it;s handled ina compelling manner. Ok, perhaps I"ve been too harsh on DN but I just can't help but compare how differently bith are executed.

Well I'm not sure. Monster is unlike any anome I"ve seen. I think it will take me a while to get used to kiddie anime style again after watching this one. It's just too engrossing. I think after monster i will stick to movies for a while with more realistic art than the regular animes but I"m not sure what genre. But definitely not the ones with eyes covering 3.4 of the face. I don;t mind them, bit not after a story like the one I"m watching them. It would be too much of a leap. Oh! I do hope it;s good. Opinions seems to be very divided on this one. I"ll be looking out for your comments on the newsfeed.

Heja. Death note to showy i flashy manga, li i nic wiecej.

lol :D Yeah, I guess. I"m probably exaggerating because I am being blown away by Monster. I"ll likely cool down..but it will be difficult to get to dramas, heck it will be VERY difficult tog et back to regular anime with more typical anime characters. You know last time I had such feelings it was for mawang, oldboy and Memories of Matsuko, but they are all in a different league, i mean Mawang was weak in comparison, even though I loved the characters.
Heart of Darkness is also about monsters and corruption, but in a vastly different setting. Conrad was writing about the crimes done in Africa by colonizers and how material interests corrupt an individual. If you do read it, it;s not an easy read., Conrad's language is very....picky, he was an extremely meticulous writer as he wanted to be precise to a T.
