I really like your level-headed reviews. I don't necesarily agree with all them but I find they are all a nice read and one that offers a nice, calm, grounded overview. I read most of them by now. :)
This was one of my first kdramas that I watched nearly what 6 years ago. At the time I had little sense of my own drama style, unlike now so at frst I really loved it, then got put off by it Nowadays mosty recall it with a bit of a smile, the dramas in general changed since then. What I think has improved is variety...there are all sorts of dramas that cater to a variety of tastes and everyone will find something to like, I think. Ithink back then I was most drawn to he strct grandfather lol. I did like the leads and their relationship, although I remember at least one or two scenes that made my eyes roll (exaggerated hospital scene)
Has remained the best saeguk for me, with epic storytelling, epic engaging characters and actors who embody the characters and all of them are fabulous. I love the dark horse theme and Jumong is a phenomenal watch for it. Jumong always has a surprise one or other up his sleeves and I particularly enjoyed seeing all the archery tests he came up against. Loved the story overall, strong female characters, bonds that have complexity and depth. This is a truly epic story, with lots of great themes. It has remained one of my strong favourites of all time, this drama never gets old for me.
I find it very compelling for the overall mood and cinematography. I'm not a fan of the genre, I only like a few (Ip Man being my favourite) but I found this to be very engaging.
Personally and emotioally? I don't like vulgar stuff, much less such strong and rather sickening sexual themes - and I am rather easy to offend (I absolutely hate vulgar and oversexed stuff- if it doesn't serve any purpose but to be fanservicy)- but in this case vulgarity does serve a higher purpose - to contempate the irony of fate and the bitter taste of revenge that turns tables on the protagonist. It's purposefully dirty, grungy. i think it does require the viewer to keep an open mind and rather than see just the undoubtedly dirty, sickening surface, invites to see a little beyond it. The movie shocks on purpose. It's a chillng contemplation that does not sugar coat ugly revelations about a man's character and fate- and it is a particularly memorable piece of cinema, but it is NOT aN easy watch nor is it meant to be one.
the subbing has ground to a halt on this one its been ages since i last an ep
oh no, just when i addedit to my PTW, i chanced on your comment. shame, its been recommended to me and was planning to try it at least but i guess this one has to wait. Removing it from PTW then.
I don't know how to express how much I enjoyed this drama. It was witty, funny, realistic and also very warm hearted.…
im not keen on chinese dramas as most of them have been rather silly and disappointed me. This one seems to have a cast who can act and right from the get go they seem to have a pull. Ill give this a go.
I think this guy is one of the most underrated Japanese actor in international fandom. I may have made some enemies…
He absolutely is. I cant believe that since 2012, the only comments on here are just yours and mine and only 5 hearts on MDL? Icant help but feel if just a tiiiiny bit sad. I love this guy!
I beg to differ, this was a very good movie which portrayed a relationship between 2 people that in real life…
You know what i think you;re abslutely right about the idols part. if it were a different cast, the movie would have skyrocketing. but som many newer movies actually made a bigger mess out of plot for me (see 911, i really couldnt like that one because it didnt know what it wanted to be and had loose ends all over)...while this was feels solid in retrospect.
In retrospect I also think my comment wasnt completely in tune wth my real feelings but i need to rwatch the movie to cinfirm this. i deleted my previous comment because it didnt sit right with me anymore, its just not somethig i feel id say, i was being awfully and unnaturally harsh. I dont think id go fir such douche comment anymore now.
one thing is for sure: i still distinctly remeber the charm of Ahn Sung Ki's presence on screen. this hasnt changed. I really adore him as a lead, hes got presence.
Right now before rewatching id say: it has charm as a romance movie. and thats what im going with before rewatching.
Solnana is a wodnerful female lead with brain AND heart. Shes all I want a female protagonist to be, with her kindness and courge. I love her for her heart. I love kind heroines. I love MunNyong as well. Th story was very good, too bad it was cut short..overall it had a lot of heart. I like stories which actually HAVE a heart. Id give it a 10, but it was cut so drastically and i cant forgive that. I loved Solnan and MyunNoyng and the overall, rich story though. Very good saeguk with characters done JUST right in a way that reached the heart.
If you're thinking about watching this drama but there's something, for some reason, stopping you - just ignore…
yeah, i can say the same about nearly all of my beloved dramas with beautifully created characters. it breaks my heart. And Kam Wo sung deserves more of a recongition. Hes such a good actor...returning to MDL makes this disappointment more acute though im used to it lol .
I guess I ought to just be happy that the drama were made for us to love lol. We deserve it :D We deserve such beautiful characters and well told stories.
He REALLY and trully grabbed my heart in What Happens to Family. He brought out a full range of his characters emotions and behaviours. it was amazing. Tae Joo is pure love! Love him.
This remains my most beloved drama of 2014. And as all my belived dramas it is severely underrated. Im just very gratefgul drasma lie this one, that touch my soul deeply, are still being made.
I love it from start to finish. And just adore Kam Woo Sung. The relationship was just so beautiful. The story and ending were all beautiful for me. I loved he relationsgip, it was pure perfection. So very very beautiful. I adore Kam Woo Sung, hes such a respectable actor.
This drama is so much more than just romance. Sigh. This drama is brilliant on ALL counts. im just glad it was made. It gathered a huge fan support as well as they sent messages to producers. i remember writing a message too, they included it. It was an awesome awesome drama. Blindness and sight were a important theme and I loved the ending, it was harder but fair ending for this man. I Loved Anthony Kim. And Jung Ryeo Won is such a great costar for him. I thoroughly thoroughly loved this drama.
Tae Joo is loove I loved him so so much. And Kim Sang Kyun made me feel full range of this character. And Kang Shi and him are just one of my favourite drama couples ever. I love them so much!!! I love the fact they were loved enough to receive a best couple award. I love them!! while Tae Joo..he may be joking and he may be clumsy bt he is kind and supportive. I love him so much! tae Joo has sincerity of heart and the actor fleshed out his character and brought out his full range, it was very very satisfying to see. I love him and can gush and gush ver him. He was done juuust right.
Noen of the characters here are perfect, they are human, they make mistaks, I found them relatable. The oveall theme and fathers quest is very close to my heart. The kids act like there is a lot of time in the world to reflect on their mistakes...there isnt. There never is. In yuth its always SO easy to fall into the trap of thinking there is time for everything, there is time for appreciating parents and elders...we can do it later...but that eternal time passes faster than you think.
Kudos to Aunt for one of the most heart-rending performances ever. That actress deserves an AWARD, come on, shes a veteran actress who always crops up here and there and I absolutely LOVEd her here. The Aunt didnt deserve to be treated like she was, though. some things should absolutely be TOLD rather than withheld. Shes right, the entire family was just rude to her, it felt patronising. For the Aunt the father is the only thing that matters, her entire world, her best friend...come on!! you dont treat her that way. I REALLY cried for her and with her and honestly her and the dad made me feel like I MUST appreciate the love I receive from my parents so much more. It was just BEAUTIFUL and powerful and I loved it..
My favourite character is definitely Tae Joo all in all. He's going to 've my precious cinnamon roll!! . Love him to bits, how he opens to Kang Sh and how he makes her open to him and depend on him. He made me laugh, he made me all warm and fuzzy... hes SUCH a sweetheeart, very kind. I love him! And love his kind and confident and patient father too.
Kang Shim's father is so genuine too..hes such a beautiful soul, so perfectly written as a dad. ah. such love from this drama...
Definitely high value for rewatchbility for me. I love this drama, love everyone but above all I love father, aunt and Tae Joo. its a drama for my heart. Amazing! I love it!!
Hes got presence on screen and I find hm magnetic. Loved his portrayal of Do Jin in AGD and among movies my favourite os My Way. He's lovely. Hope to see him in something again soon.
I wish he had more dramas coming. Spring Days was such a beautiful story
