i've never been a fan of anyone, but it's really amazing when - while not being fond of K-dramas anymore (thanks…
Oh I agree about KMN. He's an effortless performer. As for the ending or possible ending. Well, I"m too early in the series to tell but..must people/drama watchers be always spoonfed everything? Personally I often have more fun actually using my imagination. Must I be told everything? I prefer to make my own meanings sometimes. But there are the good open endings (as in KMN dramas) and "open endings" which are rushed, which used time lapse- these are not good. The endings in KMN dramas have been excellent so far. His choices in dramas are very good overall and I"m happy to trust his picks for the roles he plays.
I loved the endings in King of Dramas and Beethoven Virus. They are refreshing, not overdone in anyway and yet positive. The ending in King of Dramas was redemptive and only right for the kind of person Anthony Kim was. The ending in Beethoven Virus was also fitting. In fact the ending in Beethoven Virus was glorious, it errupted with the hopeful power of music. I'd hate if a cliched sugar-coated ending brought down a KMN drama and the ending in Beethoven and King of Dramas were very good in my opinion. I am glad dramas like this exist, .it gives me hope that not all dramas compromise a good story for meaningless fanservice/ratings.
She is a natural actress and her screen presence is undeniably strong. Not mentioning her superb versatility especially…
Personally I really enjoyed Niji Wo Kakeru. It made me think that she is a very elegant actress. Then I saw her in another special, wshe starred alongside the guy, Kusanagi, from Ninkyo Helper and there too, she was lovely. She has grace and elegance. So much better than artificial actresses like Kitagawa Keiko who annoys me temendously. In contrast, Kanno Miho is just...lovely and charming.
What do you mean? The only 1997 item with the same title is a drama and the drama and this movie are not really the same. The 1997 drama is about something else, even the summary for each is completely different. Is there any other title you are referring to perhaps?
I pretty much agree with Jeanie's review above. It was ok but nothing spectacular. I agree the main pair had excellent…
agreed. Bored me to death at the end. Everything was a filler to the romance. But I like the second lead. he was kind of attractive. It became so weepy towards the end that I had a hard time not falling asleep.Especially the final episode was too much of a mini-drama in itself.
I liked the dad and his son the most. Otherwise the drama was too weepy to stomach.I skipped most of the scenes to just watch the dad. but of course it had to disappoint me by being ostensibly agist. The idol guy was a nice gut...but it was such a cop out of a lovely subplot! And the drama didn't have to make such ostensibly agist comments by using the idol's grandma. Her narrow-minded comments, albeit in support of her grandson, really annoyed me. The dad subplot with Ellie was lovely but was ruined by fear of ratings I am guessing which turned dialogues into agenda of "older people are bad to date young people". I hate that. The least they could have done is go for a more subtle approach bit they disaplyed terrible writing by just being osentisble about it. This makes me really angry because it just keeps promoting narrow-mindnedness. but whatever, the drama is not worth it. Utterly forgettable and terribly maudlin on the whole. The ost theme song is nice, thoug. the Dad, too, was likeable and that's about all.
He is a fine actor. I haven;t seen him in much (and he doesn't appear to have many dramas/movies either) but I liked his character in Pride. I imagine he is busy with theatre most of the time but does dramas for extra money or maybe because he finds joys in acting. I like to think that they enjoy acting first and foremost that's why, despite dedication to theatre, they go into dramas (rather than just for the money)
Somehow I expected something more gripping. This was kind of boring. I think the writing was a little uninsipred, falling back on cliched statements about justice and evil. It just wasn't stimulating or engaging at all. Didin't grab me at all and just felt..like a watered down execution of a killer idea.
Sakai is great as usual and it;s a joy to watch him but his co-stars, especially Anne and Nishikido Ryo are lacklustre at best. Overall I found this lacking. Not bad but not so great either.
This is..well..this is..something of an acquired taste. But there is some heart behind all the frenzied humour. I really tried to like it and strangely enough, tthere were moments even I found hilarious, but not always- for me this humour is a little specific and a little difficult to get into at times. A little crude and "unkempt". But it certainly has its recognizeable character: the scriptwriter has ideas that could be called unique. I did like the characters.
Overall, something a little different than I"m used to. I"ll rewatch one day.
Who else likes this? I'm only on episode 4, but I really enjoy it a lot so far. It's warm and cute and the cooking…
Well, you could always be the first ;-) but there are a few fanfics for Maou and other japanese shows on a major fanfic site as well as some personal blogs so I actually think it is practised to an extent.

lol, have you ever got round to writing that fanfic? :D I agree with your review and your evaluation of the character. I"m glad I ended up picking it up, though I really didn't hold out much hope. Restaurant/food dramas usually don't sustain my interest but I guess in this case the central character created much of the interest, though the ensemble cast was good too. I enjoyed their backstories.
I don't understand the very agist comments about her husband. You love who you love. What does it matter if he's 65. It was her choice. She deserves, first of all, to have her choice without hearing spiteful or discriminating comments. As long as she;s happy, with whomever she has chosen, that should be important, not the age of her husband. As for me, I hope they are both happy.
I haven't seen her in much of anything but she seems to be a fine actress.

Here's more about him, specifically his theatre work, if anyone is interested: http://www.kabuki21.com/somegoro7.php
