I"m still not sure what to make of Yataro though. He seemed fairly frustrated with Ryoma but he wasn't exactly against him. He was too busy trying to find his place in all this chaos and make a living. He seemed to benefit from a lot of the things that were happening albeit with variable success; an opportunist.
What did you think of Ooku? I know it's based on manga which has a rather problematic premise, I saw the film: a disease which kills only young men seems highly problematic as I felt it's not possible to explain it adequately strong to justify it but since you said you like speculative look at history I thought you may have liked it.
I hope youll like Neverending story. For Jung Ryeo Won have you tried King of Dramas? Kim Myung Min is an excellent actor and the dram is an nteresting take on taking dramas. anthony Kim is also interesting.

Yes, it's like destiny fulfilled, his role has ended and that's it But then the later events also probably got confused and muddled. My book arrived today. I am going to start it on Monday after i make some preparations for Christmas but the cover says their role in the restoration was not tainted by later events. It clearly suggests that Ryoma's part was idealistic. who knows, when faced with political games later on things could have become more fuzzy/corrupt?
I think people need an idealistic and progressive minded leader and today a need for that is probably stronger than ever given that politics isially represent only interests of a small group of establishment. We could all use some motivation from an inspired leader to turn the world upside down but we've advanced so far and things have become so much more complicated, I really do wonder what would Ryoma do today! I think

I see, I guess the drama is specific. I do tend to like side characters more than main or secind leads very often though. side characters are often played by experienced actors...they add color to korean shows. Agreed about Japan though I sometimes think that Japan is trying to catch up with Korea. Ando Lloyd is a super visual production but I felt the story was weak and rather boring so I dropped it.

lol. Agreed. I do enjoy romcom but I"m the first one to say that the Korean variety is probably the most hopeless one. The Chaser is a good if somewhat hollywood-like story. There was a romantic tension here, thoghg, between the side characters, it was never really realised and more friendship or rather parternship driven. What most Korean dramas do very well is have likeable side characters. Although in this case the mprotagonist was sympathethic as well.

-.- See? This is what you get for ratings. I am definitely waiting until they conclude the story. But I will not watch it if they leave a "choose your husband" kind of ending, it won't work woth this drama.

No, not yet but I watched The Chaser by the same team, and I liked that so I was thinking to watch thos one too at some point. The writer of the Chaser doesn't like romance so the one thing that is guaranteed is strong focus on the story rather than the sighs and tears of romatic entanglements and the chaser was a pretty tight plot so I was expecting good things here.

I liked neverending story. I thought it had very positive vibes about living each of your day as it were your last and living it with laughter and love to make the most out of it. It was a little moribd = like the coffin scene and the conflict over "you will live longeR" was a little selfish and insensitive but I liked it overall, can't help thinking they both have a chance yet. How's the website coming along?

his wife? Those women chose men who had destinies to do dangerous things.
Having said that, I desperately needed to distance myself so I picked those movies. Neverending story sends off positive vibes. I really like the leads too and they deliver. It's a case of opposites attract when a regular easy going guy meets this slightly uptight woman who plans everything. Since they share the same fate, things kind of start...there is some morbid talk but the idea is to show that we should seize every day and make it a happy one, live each day as if it were our last and make the most of it, and moreover live with laughter and love. I actually found it to be a cute date movie all in all.

I so felt like stopping at episode 45...my heart was completely crushed. It really rarelly happens for me. My heart still aches when I think about it- that's why I started watching movies to distance myself because otherwise I'd go crazy. There was no one anything could do : to prevent that. But then I do wonder how different things may have been not just for Oryo but for Japan issues had he stayed alive. He'd still be in danger and knowing him he wouldn't be able to just hide and sit still.
And before the Teradaya incident he was thinking so deeply about what to fo about Oryo too. He was well aware what he's getting her into. argh. Yes, Reise, I agree few romances are kind of so deep and meanngful like this one. And she's not the only one. Takechi Hanpeita was also very impressive- a man of dignity who knew his way of life and saw it through to the end! And
Their English is just fine. :) I confess I found myself really drawn to this simple love story which very much brings about a sense of uncertainty and fragility which is highlighted by the use of simple but understandable English. The chemostry is sizzling. Jung Woo sung is probably one of the most magnetic Korean actors I have seen on screen...the ending is a bit abrupt though..or maybe it just reflects that sense of uncertainty... It proved to be an enjoyable watch for me, a simple love story. And yes there are some nice shots too.
