I firmly believe that the low rating for this drama is because the writer had to change some things in the original storyline due to ratings. I think everyone wanted Yong Hwa to get the girl, even though the priginakl story has Lee Dong Gun as the leading guy. I am led to believe this is the fact that;'s not clear which is causing all the discontent. It's a fact I want to verify, so in short yes :D I want to check; in controversial dramas like this, especially when subject (time travel/parallel universe) is interesting for me, I want to have my own opinion so I can't ditch the drama. It's always best to see for yourself rather than completely trust reviews and judgments, that's what I believe. Yeah, I guess modern "romcoms" invite this sort of easy escapism.

Oh by the way, speaking of cute couples in chinese stories (re Jade palace), have you watched either of the versions of Huan Zhu Ge ge? The remake is a prime example of how story suffers because direcots want to make a showy musical but it ninetheless had some nice changes but I'd be very curious to hear your thoughts on this one.

As everywhere shippers are really intense in anime, especially anime like Fushigi Yuugi hence otome game would likely offer a relief. Which reminds me that there was a visual otome novel called Yo Jin Bo which in turn was turned into a manga. It was kind of weird because of modern rreferences/ humour which seemed so out of place. How are you liking Three Kingdms so far?

I liked him in Chase- he had an effortlessly strong presence on screen there- he was like tailored to the role-and offered a good counter to Arata's powerful character. He seems to be a man of many talents. I like the current photo.

It's not that they shouldn;t- it's that rom coms can be romcoms without having kisses. I think it;s shallow to think that a measure of romcom is kissing. I love romcoms, good romcoms and that's not the point in the romcom. I think the genre devalued too much because of this kind of shallow thinking.Really? Even THEY are coming out of their shy shell? I loved that about bollywood that it didn;t use kissing but instead conveyed romantic feelings in as dirrent way, especially in Sharukh movies. Well, I'll see. I do like romcoms and am very open minded but characters must be likeable or provocative These aren't, they don;t provoke any kind of reaction, I donlt really care what happens. Happy watching then!

It;s others who are a big failure, not you. Everyone around us is just too self-centred to admit they are failures as human beings. Focus on something positive. It does help eventually. And feel better as soon as possible!

The characters are annoying/ But I will only watch it (if I manage ti) to defend the premise that a rom comc doesn;t HAVE to have a kiss. the best romcoms never had one, like Billy Wiilder's the apartment....I am just a little annoyed that everyone seems to think that for a romcom there must necessarily be a kiss. I say no, there are a thousand other ways to expressing romance than a kiss. Bollywood never has kisses but has plenty of great romcoms. I also want to see what the drasma about this drama is all about bit as I say it annoys me from the first moment. I may not be able to keep up my resolve.

doesn;t seem like a good idea. I'll give the short stories a try, maybe I'll change my mind.

I never knew there were any new things beyond the oavs. The last one I wartched was with Maya. The series had a propoer closure, but Maya was a bit of a turn-off because of her character. I enjoed the second special series though, since I liked to see how Taka reconciled a sense of his identity with his doubts. It was quite neat. Again that's because I could see he felt a stranger in his own skin. I liked that the series touched on that, it gave a little more depth to the character. Stardust was lovely. I really love fairy tales and stardus is a lovely cinematic fairy tale, ticks all the genre boxes I think. I"ll have to check out his short stories then. I read Gaiman;s neverwhere- but I found it to be contrived and it was a big turn off. Never finished the novel, but I think the tv series was first and then came the novel, maybe that's why...adapting screen to book

a bit overdramatic. I liked fushigi yuugi well enough though, in fact I still do if only because I liked some of the characters. That's probably what started my interest in otome games in the first place, heh.

The writing is very introspective but the context may be a bit unfamialiar since part of it deals with communist Poland, but then she moves on to discuss 50s/60s Canada and then 60s/70s USA reality. I think it's a good thing. Although I tried reading Neil Gaiman and I wasn't too impressed, to be honest. Stardust was a nice watch though. More classic novel adaptations would be nice...however you just reminded me that anime has lots of classic novel adaptations too. I like them, I even dont mind that they make the stories happier.
