I'm going through my on-hold and dropped list, and since I'm allergic to leaving anything incomplete, I decided that I'm going to finish this.

Let me start by saying I think this show had VERY VERY good PR... It could only be that, or the main audience consists of teenage girls whose frontal lobes haven't fully developed yet.

I don't think it's a bad drama. The later episodes were actually okay, but because of the first part.....like the first 12 episodes? I kept overthinking i must say EEEEYUCK!!!!

Everything about those first few episodes rubbed me the wrong way. I know a lot of people are going to say, "But he didn't like her then." "It was just a one-sided puppy crush," blah, blah, blah. While that is technically true, the story is being told from HER point of view. I'm not in his head the way I'm in hers. I'm not insinuating anything, but it's still something to think about.

Outside of that, I hated and frankly felt completely uncomfortable with how the writing purposely created situations that allowed the two of them to constantly end up ALONE together in small, enclosed spaces. Yeah, nothing inappropriate was actually done, but some things just don't sit right with me.

The slow-motion shots whenever she stared at him, the romantic background music, the way it was portrayed as though she's the only one who "gets him"... If it's supposed to be a one-sided puppy love, what was the purpose of turning these regular interactions into romantic scenes with slow-mo editing and a sentimental soundtrack?

And it went on for like 12 episodes........basically half the whole show. One or two episodes would've been enough. Then they could've done the time skip to college, which would've felt much more appropriate.

There's nothing wrong with age-gap relationships, but in this case, those first few episodes just weirded me out a bit. Even though I know the male lead wasn't in love with her or romantically interested in her at the time, the way certain scenes were edited where she's in her school uniform and he's in regular clothes, clearly emphasizing their age difference, paired with her baby voice and his much more mature one just left me stunned.

Those scenes weren't doing what they were supposed to. They were clearly meant to come across as innocent and from a place of admiration, but the editing intentionally made them feel inappropriate. I honestly would've preferred if they had kept a little more distance between them and not made them seem so close or familiar during that stage of the story.

Anyway, I think the directors made some very questionable choices there.

Then they started dating RIGHT AFTER SHE LEFT HIGH SCHOOL, barely even an adult yet....HE even was the one who confessed, and I was just like... Okay, when did you suddenly start seeing her as a woman instead of that little girl you used to tutor?

I just wish I had never started this drama. I don't have a problem with it as a whole; the later episodes were a okay watch but those first few episodes were weird.

VERY WEIRD.

No tea, no shade, but this show wasn't that good and was severely overhyped.

I started watching this when it first aired, but I put it on hold until all the episodes were released. I picked it back up, then dropped it again because it was way too draggy, and the constant push-and-pull just didn't make sense. A few months later, I picked it up again because I hate leaving dramas unfinished, and new issues arose.

After a few more episodes, around the middle of the drama, I started feeling like the relationship and romance were way too one-sided. Yes, it was pretty obvious that they both loved each other very much. However, she learned about and even witnessed the many things he did for her and the countless ways he showed how much he cared, and she's just... I can't even put into words what I think of her character during that specific period. The words I want to use to describe her would make me sound mean. Anyway, I got past that since I guess they wanted to write San Yan as someone who deeply yearned for her.

Then I directed my attention to the second couple... Oh brother. I genuinely was not feeling their acting. I don't think it's a matter of whether they can or cannot act; I personally just didn't like their performances.

Another thing I DID NOT like was the styling in this show for any of the female characters; neither the female lead nor the second female lead. The second male lead was dressed sloppily as well. I honestly think the entire styling budget went to Jing Ting because he was the only person who consistently had well-fitted clothes.

They also did a poor job handling the female lead's trauma and mental health overall. That girl didn't only suffer from sleepwalking. Come on now, you're simply playing in my face. Furthermore, the rapist, the rape apologist, the classist stepsister, and the spineless mother were handled even worse. We saw that these characters were absolute monsters. We witnessed everything they did to the female lead and all the scars they left behind. Yet when it came time for them to face consequences, everything was wrapped up far too easily, especially for the aunt, the mother, and the stepsister.

I also wish they had put more effort into the storytelling surrounding the characters' careers. The way it was written, their jobs felt like nothing more than plot devices to create scenes, give the male and female leads an excuse to meet outside of town, wrap up another character's storyline, or introduce a new character. I'm mainly referring to the female lead's job as a journalist. Here's the thing: most of the time she was in the office instead of out in the field. The stories and exclusive interviews seemed to come directly to them rather than them actively seeking them out.

Anyways, outside of the romantic segments and the friendship scenes between the male lead and his friends, as well as the female lead and the second female lead, I found most of the writing to be boring.

The statements are directly tied to her management... Reading comprehension is beating y'all's asses.

All of this was, and still is, about her management. Your team is directly tied to you; everything they say or do is a direct representation of you. Using reading comprehension and context clues from how the issue started in the first place should tell you that she's becoming collateral damage in the conflict between the fans and her team.

The only way to resolve the issue is for them to directly debunk the allegations and prove the other side is lying, (which they're unable to do for obvious reasons might I add) or remove the people who caused the issue in the first place. Otherwise, there is no way around it.

Nobody wants to indirectly work with a hypocrite. Furthermore, no production team will take on an actress who is considered high risk.

When workers ask for a pay raise or better working conditions and their demands are not met, what do they do? They strike and protest. This is the same thing. Unless the people behind her come forward themselves and step down, there is no way around it. The team did not only carry out smear campaigns against Ling He but also against several of Yuxiao's other co-stars.

And that's exactly what the other side is pushing for. Let's say their demands are met and the team is removed. Any hostility toward the actress from the official fan club after that would literally be plain bullying, which was never the premise of why they were against her in the first place.

Other c-netizens will see this, and as I said before, if such a thing happens, then the people who will lose face are none other than Ling He and his fans, while public sentiment toward Yuxiao will increase. Therefore, removing the bad apples from her team will do her no harm.

I know it may not be her decision, but the company holding on to those people and keeping them around her simply does her no good.

I think it's better that you grasp the entirety of the situation so you're able to be objective when making comments. I've done a detailed dive, and I saw that all of the verified accounts from Ling He's side provided evidence to support their claims. All of them addressed only the management and never the actress. Keyword here, VERIFIED accounts. The only reason she's caught in the crossfire is because the issue is directly tied to her.

Literally nobody addressed her. If you were to take the time to visit Weibo, then you'd know that the verified fan accounts are calling for her removal solely because of the people around her who spread propaganda. Literally no one is attacking her as a person or questioning her integrity as an actress.

Every artist has fans and anti-fans. Ling He's fans only called for Yuxiao's removal because of her management's past actions toward their favorite actor. Therefore, calling for her removal does not equate to his fans hating her.

Removing the people who are causing the issue is, and should be, the first course of action in making everything right. Of course, she'll still face some backlash. However, according to Ling He's official fan club, they have no issue with her being the female lead outside of the concerns regarding her management.

If, for any reason, they are still against her even after she removes the person responsible to correct the issue, then it won't take long for everyone, including c-netizens, to come together, and it'll be Ling He and his fans who end up in the hot seat.

Removing someone who is harming your career is far from a ridiculous idea. The issue with your comment is you seems to dismiss the possibility that her management could bear any responsibility.. Also her and her team, should they address the issue; it shouldn't be solely because they think all the bad press will disappear with their statement. That's not how the industry works.

We're witnessing this in real time and they try to do this with Zhao Lu Si after she spoke out about her abuse from her previous company.

Even Zhang Linghe, during the promotion of Pursuit of Jade, almost lost his career and faced cancellation because he made an inappropriate joke he had no business making.

That's how the industry and life itself is. You'll have your heyday, but if you're not careful, it'll be short-lived. The industry isn't kind to anyone. The same c-netizens people claim are pushing her toward suicide are also the same c-netizens who helped skyrocket her popularity. Unless someone discovers another way for actors and actresses to gain massive popularity and free publicity without fans or c-netizens, they will always remain dependent on the industry. I'm gonna be honest here....I started this expecting it to be heavily romanticize but quickly realize it was leading more towards politics and the female lead journey towards achieving her career goals. Because the path she wants to tale is a female official it makes total sense why the drama CANNOT be heavily romance focus even if the ML loves her very much. It would simply goes against all rules and not in a "love defy all" way. Now that she has lit the beacon, she will inevitable probably be removed from her position which will give the storytelling leeway to involve more romance.

I did a few skips of the novel since everybody said they did a lot of changes in the adaptation but to me the premise is still the same, but that's just me.

I think if you're looking for romance this is definitely not for you since the FL hardly ever shows she cares for the governor romantically and is mostly set on achieving her career goal more than bagging a man.

This show reminds me so much of "Master of my own".... The acting and chemistry is there but the writing and story is in the pits of hell.

First of all the only good man in this show is Lu Ze, ML is just a lazy, loose mouth, good for nothing, incompetent bastard. Will not elaborate further. I really hate how throughout the whole show they had Fl laboring and then her swooning over him for simply helping out here and there. I WILL NOT ELABORATE FURTHER.

Second couple and his family or such a sore eye. The business aspect was done in such a overkill way too but at the same time was very lackluster.....

The pacing of everything is off. From the relationships, to the business, even down to the very proposal.

The proposal especially was what sealed it for and allow me to draw the conclusion ML is a terrible, terrible man. He made no effort to appease or attempt to marry his previous girl friend but propose to this one in such a short space of time? it really showed me what I already knew, men uses certain women as placeholders until they're finally ready to settle down or their PREFERRED time comes around!

Anyways this gave absolutely nothing. The writers took a piss. death to all of them!

I must say Cdramas are on a generational run of rubbish this year. If it's not step-siblings fucking, it's adopted siblings and cousins. they even ruin perfectly written shows just because they wanna add in rape....Just eww brotha.

Thank God to the writers of "Love story in 1970" cause that's genuinely the only good show from start to finish that has been released this year so far. Everything else either started off strong and fell on hardwood in the end or simply just fell off in the second half of the show. That's exactly what happened with POJ. Great show but the something drastically shift in the second half. it was still good but in a OKAY way not WOW like it was in the first half.

I’m not at all satisfied.

I expected a grand battle between the Mo brothers or the very least a few good scenes of MXY fighting on the battlefield. They did all that build up only to give us absolutely freakin nothing.

The consort dowager and the empress dowager got off way too easily. And yeah yeah i understand it’s because they wield way greater power than everybody else but i think if not Ye Li , Jing Li should’ve killed or disabled atleast one of them.

Li fei Bai getting his eyes injured and hiding it from everyone to move into seclusion is not only stupid but also simply does not add up. The Fei Bai I know would’ve never hidden such a thing from Ye Li of all person. Maybe the others but definitely not Ye Li especially with her medical skills. It goes completely against how their relationship work and the complete trust and partnership they always share.

What pisses me off the worst was how her mental illness was handled. If they weren’t going to correctly represent it then they should’ve never began in the first place. We saw how it haunted constantly it’s only right to also show her struggle and gradual recovery. People just don’t stop seeing their hallucinations immediately after taking their meds but whatever girl!

They wrapped up the fighting and resolved everything in ep39 then decided that wasn’t enough let’s go ahead and ruin the last ep which btw should’ve been dedicated to family segment with them starting a family instead we got so many unnecessary scenes.

I was so prepared for some superb performances especially when you remember what happen to the former prince Ding. It’s so obvious that they wanted to build a storyline around the same scenario with Xiuyao but even that they gave up and left in the middle of.

Second couple and his family especially his mother are just way too annoying for me to watch their scenes. I've been skipping them nonstop. the terrible editing on Li Xinze face is pissing me off so i skip his scenes too.

The Dynamic between the ML&FL lead is nice and all but i'm literally on ep 23 and there has been no progress on romance. then come to find out even after 30 episodes they've still not begun to date? Absolute garbage. For pacing they should've already been warm up to each other romantically by Ep 18 and been dating by ep 22-24. Why else would I be watching 36 of corn salad?

Now they're gonna fast forward everything and prematurely wrapped it up.

Everything about this show is too much and too little and the same time. The only couple here that make sense fictionally and realistically is between Lu Ze and JingJing. They're the ones who need the screen time not whatever Danyu and Jun Cheng doing.
