My friend, I am not seeing light at the end of the tunnel. We should prepare ourselves for the blow.
It’s painful that that is the best scenario, but I don’t at all disagree. I’m not a fan of forced time skips in storylines, but I would make an exception for this.

Yeah, well said, totally agree.

Oh no. Now I’m worried. If this whole thing has always been a Montagues and Capulets type of Romeo and Juliet situation, I will be traumatized.

I know it's highly unlikely but I would love an ending like LongTime No See
I completely agree. Long Time No See is at the top of my favorite KBLs. I would love an ending like that as well.

That's a valid criticism and I can see why you feel that way. I personally like plots the most, when romance is…
Also completely valid. Excellent points. I don’t mean for it to come off as though I’m not a fan of complex stories that are plot driven, I promise that’s not the case. And I also love a good slow burn. My expectations have just needed to be adjusted and that’s where my frustrated criticism is coming from.

Title The Bangkok Boy Spoiler
Peace had a longer scene with Sun’s sister than he had time together with Sun in all of ep6, and then a majority of that was spent on them talking about Sun’s sister. The description, the poster, everything about this being a BL is completely misleading. I feel baited. Just so I’m not misunderstood otherwise, my complaint isn’t that the show isn’t “BL enough”. I had the same feelings about the kdrama High School Undercover, which also was tagged as an action, crime romance, with the romance being near to nonexistent.

Each episode I’m just left feeling frustrated for the lack of the supposed story that this has been promoted to be. The balance is completely off and I don’t feel anything real between Sun and Peace. Them having any kind of real connection would be the thing that could draw me into this show, but with that being so lacking, I could almost care less. There’s no center; nothing that connects the pieces and parts of the story and characters. It’s just disjointed groups plotting and planning and I don’t even really care about who winds up winning.

I had the same feeling and with Jack & Joker too. I do like all these more complicated plots and all, but I wish…
Yes! Thank you! Perfect point and examples too! I’m all for the complicated and involved storytelling, I just don’t get why there is so little time spent on Sun & Peace (together, not individually per se).

Title The Bangkok Boy Spoiler
Last week I made a comment about how this series is testing my patience, but I was all for it — it’s a slow burn and all that. This week I’m changing my tune a little bit. I’m not going to lie, I’m completely watching this for the BL premise, but this isn’t to say I’m not a fan of world building and storytelling, I love it all. My issue is that so many parts of the story have been built and focused upon so much more than that of Sun and Peace. We’re almost halfway through the series and I can’t even remember more than like maybe 15 minutes total of screen time with them together, and none of it being all that memorable. Their connection feels lacking, and if they’re just thrown together at this point, I wouldn’t understand any feelings they might have for each other, it hasn’t really been shown.

I don’t feel anything romantic between Sun and Peace at all, they just seem sorta friendly and that’s about it. Again, I’m not complaining that the focus of the story isn’t just BL, there’s lots of characters and action and story arcs to follow. The synopsis is just a bit misleading, that Sun is supposed to “fall in love with Peace”.

There’s plenty of show to see, so I’ll be holding out for hope that maybe Sun and Peace’s story together might get a little more screen time instead of just seeming to be an afterthought in regards to everything else going on.

i really hope we get more exes back to lovers bls cuz i literally cant think of a single other one??
There’s a couple more JBL’s that come to mind. His and The End Of The World With You, both of those fit that theme. And definitely Love Is Better The Second Time Around.

This is good, it’s really good. It’s like the Jurassic Park of BLs, “spared no expense”. It’s done on such a grand scale it has me in awe. And to top it off, the story so far is very interesting and acted really well. I had hoped this would be good and sort of knew it would be, but luckily, it has totally delivered. I’ve got no complaints (other than waiting each week for the next episode is going to be just so hard to do).

There’s something randomly charming about this series that I can’t quite put into words exactly what it is. It’s been enjoyable so far though, which is a bonus because I wasn’t expecting to like this as much as I have been.

Title Business as Usual Spoiler
Unnecessary. This whole thing was just, unnecessary. It was “cute”, I guess, and started off well enough, but then became a lot of nothing. When will show writers learn that we don’t want to wait until the very last moment for the mains to find their happiness? What was the point of Min Jun asking Jin Hwan to get out of his life, only to confess later that he’ll always come back for him? It was just unnecessary. I don’t like watching people hurt the ones they love because they think somehow it’s for the best for both of them. Or continued miscommunication that could so easily be cleared up with a few words, but instead dragged out until whatever could have been meaningful has instead lost all meaning. And did we really need another confession scene at an airport?! It just makes me want to rant at those involved in making this to please recycle your trash, not your storylines.

This show is so frustrating it has me wanting to pull out my hair by the handfuls. And I don’t mean that in any kind of good way where I’m complimenting the slow burn, it has more to do with having watched 7 episodes of a show and not feeling like I’ve seen anything. The same storyline has been told from the beginning to end of every episode. We’re just going in circles, and getting nowhere, and watching the characters do and say the same things over and over and over again. Where is the story? Where is the content? For how long are we expected to believe the miscommunication can continue? I’ll watch the last episode, but not necessarily because I want to. After watching 7 episodes of nothing, might as well see how that nothing ends.

Just because I’m in a mood I want to add that KBL’s have been disillusioning me a lot lately. Between this and Business As Usual, I want to set something on fire because I’m so frustrated by characters that are seemingly not able to, or not willing to communicate with each other. Secret Relationships was a good enough show, but I didn’t quite enjoy it as much as some others may have. And don’t get me started on Heesu in Class 2 and that utter disappointment. I’ll stop ranting now, this is all just because I was so excited by all of the KBL’s coming out, and just feeling let down, but that’s on me. Hoping for more but getting less is an expectation I should be more than familiar with by now.

I don't know why, but I feel bad for Baek yi jin. They didn't show what happened between Baek yi jin and Baku…
The problem I think was that we saw him choose his own greed over people time and again. It always seemed like everyone around him was expendable and if they didn’t serve an immediate purpose they had no worth. We’ll be left wondering why he turned out that way. Even Si Eun asked him why he chose greed when he had intelligence that could most likely already get him what he would want. He was such a question mark of a character.

Title Weak Hero Class 2 Spoiler
It’s not often that a second season or sequel can outdo the original, but I’ll be damned if Weak Hero Class 2 wasn’t a phenomenal follow up and continuation of the story. I’m so in for a season 3.

Admittedly, I was hesitant about the second season, and that had everything to do with Su Ho. He was my favorite character from season 1 and I was left devastated by his unknown fate at the end. I was worried that he would be swept under the rug or killed off; left as an afterthought in the second season. Luckily, that wasn’t at all the case. So much of Si Eun’s journey had centered around his friendship with Su Ho. He was that person for Si Eun that allowed him to open up to the world and the driving force for him to find his smile. The ending of season 2 couldn’t have been better and I couldn’t have asked for anything more. (I’m still coping with the curveball that was Baek Jin’s fate, it’ll probably be some time before I come to terms with that).

I liked the cast of characters so much in season 2. There was just something about this group that grabbed me and kept me held on and invested. They were far less ambiguous in terms of who could be trusted or not. Sure, there was still the old switcheroo with Seong Je, but I was never foolish enough to believe he’d ever be anything other than selfish and all for himself.

If the story were to continue my only hope would be that we could get more than just male characters. I understand that the story is set within all male school systems, but still, it’s just a lot of dudes.

The acting is great, the story is cool, the fight sequences will make you want to rewind and watch those awesome kicks at least once again. Plus, Su Ho!!! I sincerely enjoyed this so very much and I’m just on cloud nine. Chingus, fighting!

yoooooooo.... okay so i gotta be honest i did not fully understand everyone complaining in the beginning. i could…
I’m right there with you, I so badly wanted to be able to say that all that complaining early was baseless and the show would prove them all wrong, but alas, I haven’t a leg to stand on.

is there any recent well-made korean bl (or bl in general) I can binge to forget the pain this drama gave me?
Maybe not too recent but some of my favorite KBL’s are Cherry Blossoms After Winter, Unintentional Love Story, Love for Love’s Sake, Love Class Season 2, Semantic Error, The Eighth Sense, To My Star, Mr. Heart, Let Free the Curse of Taekwando.
A recent favorite of mine from the past year or so is the Taiwan BL Unknown.
