He did kill someone this time, though.
I fucking hope so. Because you never know, they can always turn it into "JBR kept beating the child rapist till he lost consciousness".
Same with the last guy, how can we be sure he was dead? Maybe he was still breathing when the police guy took him away to get rid of him for good.

I still don’t know why this got a high rating here. The humor was off, Kim Nam Gil’s acting and comedic timing…
Thank God I'm not the only one here who feels like this. I feel like I've wasted my time watching this drama, even the romance was meh.

On Live Up to Your Name Apr 4, 2021
Started this for Kim Nam Gil after seeing him in "The Fiery Priest". I've no idea who's at fault (the writer, the director, or the actor himself), but his character is so off in "Live Up to Your Name". It's like, the character is almost enjoyable. ALMOST. But something's stopping the character from being enjoyable to the viewer.
Also, there's no really main plot in this drama, no main conflict that's happening throughout the course of the drama, except for Heo Im's (quite boring) journey to becoming a "good doctor". Because, apparently according to this drama a good doctor doesn't care about the money. Sure, let's work for free, why not? It's not like being a doctor is one of the most physically and mentally draining occupations, right? :) So who in their right mind would want to receive money for doing their job, am I right? :)
As for the romance, most of the time I felt no chemistry between the two leads. Heck, Kim Nam Gil had more chemistry with Lee Hani in "The Fiery Priest" where he played A FREAKING PRIEST AND THERE WAS NO ROMANCE BETWEEN THOSE TWO.
Not to mention that this drama is based on the"patient of the episode" concept. Feels like watching "Pokemon".

There's seriously nothing appealing about this drama. It's an okay drama at most. I feel like there are many other kdramas you can watch when you're bored that are better than this one.

Also one more thing (I'm really not disagreeing or agreeing here but..). no one really knows how the Mafia works…
Yes, but there are many classic mafia-themed movies (Casino, Goodfellas, Donnie Brasco, The Godfather), in which I believe the screenwriters made a more throughout research on how the real mafia works. Especially Donnie Brasco, which is loosely based on an autobiographical book "Donnie Brasco: My Undercover Life in the Mafia", so it can be a good source of knowledge of how the real mafia works. Doing research that can be verified is not that hard nowadays, but it's the writer's will to do so if they want to be consistent with the reality and don't want to become a laughing stock.
So the depiction of mafia in Vincenzo is quite childish to me.

Title Vincenzo Spoiler
I have to disagree with him being too trusting. I also think Vincenzo is on alert most of the time. I could go…
Vincenzo getting betrayed by Jo Young Woon and Vincenzo not seeing this betrayal coming must've been the most anticlimactic betrayal I've seen in a while in a kdrama. It was obvious from the very beginnng that this betrayal would happen sooner or later, that's why I think him trusting Jo Young Woon so much was pretty dumb.

Title Vincenzo
I know it's just a comedy drama, but I bet the Godfather himself is experiencing second hand embarrassment and cringing hard as fuck at all those Italian mafia wannabes shown in this drama and unfunny mafia jokes that the characters make.
Also, for a mafia member, Vincenzo is way too naive and he trusts people too easily. He should expect betrayal from anyone around him and be more alert. When it comes to money (or gold in this case), the closest to you are the ones you should be the most cautious of.
And that cliffhanger at the end of episode 14? The guy would've been killed on the spot without any unnecessary small talk and prolongation of the scene, of course had the screenwriter made them act like the real Italian mafia.
Yes, it's just a drama, but since the screenwriter decided to write a script revolving around an Italian mafia member, he should be more consistent with what he's decided to enclose in his story. Yes, I know they can't show much brutality on the Korean television hence the characters aren't killing each other every other scene. But the whole mafia plot line seems to be used in this drama solely because it feels "exotic"to the Korean viewer. Through unfunny jokes the screenwriter keeps reminding us every few minutes that Vincenzo is a mafia member. Without any particular reason the characters keep pointing out that he's from the Italian mafia. Like??? We've fucking known that since episode 1? Heck, we'd known that way before the drama started airing. There's no need for the "Haha he's Mr Mafia" jokes.

There's my rant. Now ya'll can eat me alive as you always do with those who don't enjoy a kdrama as much as you do ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Aaaaand starting with episode 13, we're getting into politics :c I knew it'd happen at some point for the sake of the story and to give us the closure, but I was really bored while watching episode 13 :c I hope episode 14 gives us some kind of sick twist, because the one at the end of episode 13 wasn't really that shocking to me.

"Mouse decided to take a break for a while by airing a special ep on this 7th April to increase the understanding of the preceding narratives & raising more expectation for the remaining story."

I'm sorry, but imo if you have to make a special episode to explain the story, I think you're doing something wrong. It's the screenwriter's duty to write a script that won't confuse the viewer, even if the story is meant to be confusing and complex in the first place.

It's okay if the special episode is just a recap and shows how certain events are connected, but I'm worried it'll be like making excuses why some things happened and why they make sense when in fact they might not.

Something similar happened to Mr Queen. In order to show that the King loves the REAL Queen, they made a special episode showing that he liked her in the past, because in the main story it seems that he's fallen in love with Jang Bong Hwan as for most of the drama his soul is in the Queen's body, and the King has more interaction with Jang Bong Hwan than with the real Queen. So, at the end of the drama it seems like the King has been lied to and is living with a woman he hasn't fallen in love with, and thus there's a special episode making excuses that in fact the King has always liked the real Queen, but for some fucking reason the scriptwriter couldn't include this storyline in the original story, and only realised that he'd fucked up after having completed the original script.
