This drama is beyond BORING. I tried to like it because I see all the positive comments but there is absolutely nothing interesting about this show. The plot is dry and the leads together make no sense (and they have zero chemistry) Why is he into her? Even in the flashbacks of them as a teenager, I couldn't get it. The FL comes off as very spoiled and unlikeable.
I thought maybe I'm just being nitpicky because I've been in a bit of a slump when it comes to dramas but one episode of A Date with the Future is better than this whole drama.
I don't get the Ren Allen hate when it comes to romance dramas. To be fair I've only watched him in Under the Power and the chemistry between him and Seven Tan was perfection. I don't even remember there being many kissing scenes but who cares? The chemistry is there and you don't need a kissing scene to show chemistry between leads (didn't the untamed prove that?)
But anyway. I'm super excited for this drama and I can't wait until the day it airs.
The name "Good Bad Mother" is such a fitting title for this drama. The mother had good intentions and there's no doubt in my mind that she truly loved her son, but the way she treated her son was bad, not abhorrent (the mother on Go Ahead takes the abhorrent title). From the moment she said "I'll give you a life that your father and I never had", she truly meant it.
She gave him a life where he was barred from friends, happiness, and love that she at least experienced as a child and made Kang Ho a shell of a person that she crafted and molded to fit the life she planned for him.
This to me didn't feel like a show on forgiveness or redemption. It felt like a mother who made a mistake, knew she made a mistake, and lived with it. She just hoped in the next life she'd be that great mother her son deserved.
This drama gets a 9.5 from me. Solid acting from both the mother and the son, a great story (although the court scene was truly unbelievable), and a colorful array of characters.
After reading the novel's description I assumed that Peng Guan Ying's character (Zhuang Guo Dong) would be the possible end game LI. But the actor has a support role so I wonder if she'll go back to her ex-husband Wallace Huo's character (Pa Jia Ming) because Lin Geng Xin's (Fang Xie Wen) romance seems to be short and fleeting.
I genuinely don't care how dated this drama is, I want to watch it. After recently becoming a fan of Crystal Liu and Jing Bo Ran I know the chemistry would be amazing.
The Chinese version is pretty much perfect so I wonder how this one will stack up. Hwang In Youp is a great choice as Ling Xiao I can actually see him play the part but the FL is another story. I don't really see her as Jian Jian unless they change her character. Her short stature and cute baby face were a large part of her character. Park Bo-young would have been perfect for the role.
But I'll withhold further judgment until this show is released. I'm excited either way. Go ahead is one of my favorite dramas.
This drama wasn't that great or that bad. Just very mid and underwhelming. The chemistry between the leads was good. I thought the second couple was okay (The 2FL was kind of mean at times though) and the third couple scenes were skippable (it felt like they were advertising a game the whole time).
I could have done without the baby voice from both the FL and the 3FL.
Either way, I rated it a 7.5. It's very forgettable but if you're a fan of fluff, leads that are together for most of the drama, and baby voices then this might be the drama for you.
Ignore the 7.9 rating this show is a solid 9 in my book. There's humor, kisses, and loads of shenanigans. I didn't even notice that it was a short drama that's how good it was.
