OMG I finished this. What a train wreck. I don't think I have ever seen a bad K-drama but I guess there is always…
Also, the way they wrote her relationship with Shi Oh seemed so against the grain and the message of the show. They spent all that time talking about forgiving the person trying to kill you and making the world a better place, understand where they came from etc. with the imposter storyline, but they completely failed to deliver and emotional questions with Shi Oh even though we got lots of back story. Those drugs probably also messed with his mind. She was so far removed from any emotional feeling towards him that her shouting at him No! just before he killed himself was unbelievable. Girl, like you care. You treated the whole thing so blasé. Namsoon was completely a 2 Dimensional character with no depth or feeling about anything. I don't even believe she likes the cop. He's just there. I agree the Shi Oh had t die and his death scene was well shot but confusing because what happened to his friend after? But the pay off was so anti-climactic and then all the nonsense that happened after. Sigh.
So in the end every one of those family members were out there telling everyone "I will kill you" after all that redemption stuff. I am surprised no one lost their powers. I really hope they stop there.
Am I the only one who wished someone else played the FL. I know I'm not the only one who thought she was annoying…
I don't know. She had a few moments. Good comedic actor. I think she would have been more palatable with better writing and directing. They didn't give her much to go on. I also didn't like that they erased her mongol upbringing completely and turned her into a chaebol in designer clothes. Acting wise I think she was okay but maybe I was just traumatised by the whole thing.
OMG I finished this. What a train wreck. I don't think I have ever seen a bad K-drama but I guess there is always a first time. The villain really needed his own show and not be in strong woman. This really was more his show than anyone else's. There were too many characters with no depth. Very little made sense or had any gravitas for me to be interested in the lore or the family since they were so gung-ho about everything. At least if they learned how to be more restrained and careful in their arch that would have been something. As if I wasn't disappointed enough, they added scene was a major disappointment if they add this story to the franchise. The whole point was they were women. I really loved SWDBS. Its my top 3 if not my number 1 drama.
Does anyone know how this was received domestically? Has anyone addressed any of the disappointment from fans after this yet?
@shiagi, For me honestly it was a waste of time, I’m in episode 13 and I keep askimg my self why I continued…
I agree. For a K-drama, the writing really is shoddy. There is adding humour but not at the expense of some kind of link to reality. The way the mother just tells everything the whole detective that accidentally took the drugs and no one thought to send him to hospital so they can monitor the progress of the condition and then they forget about him for aaaaages until he dies. I was really annoyed by the whole police thing. Also the secretary getting bribed and going missing just before a segment aired made no sense after they set up her personality and relationship with the mother. I don't know. I made it this far I will finish it but every episode I find something shocking that someone said okay to this. Especially considering how good the 1st one was written. It's like they really didn't care at all! This cannot be the same writing team!
While I found the main leads and Minato's chasteness a little frustrating I really lived for the the second leads. The development of Shu and Asuka was sweet.
Just started this. I am moving on to ep 3. Not gonna lie, I'm really disappointed. Nothing really makes sense such as how the little girl didn't get returned in all those years (I mean she has a passport and the parents publicised the loss for years and are super rich!) how the police conducted their drug raid at the airport and so much more in just the first two episodes!
I think this hurts more because I love Strong Woman. Its the only K drama I can watch over and over again. I think the 1st one was so clever with the script, acting, story line, cinematography juxtaposing all the bubble pink cutesy against the dark underbelly of crime and BongSoon's feelings about herself and her power as a woman and someone who just wants to fit in (very relatable to everyone).
I'm gonna push through this but so far it doesn't bode well. Everyone is rubbing me the wrong way so far and some parts are so cringey and stupid.
Wow I am glad I didn't listen to the reviews. It wasn't that bad at all. It is different but I have seen the type of characters in other shows where they are a little dramatic and OTT but this was tame and resolved really quick compared to others. The romance was cute., the locations were nice and everything well shot. The music also was top notch. It wasn't perfect or anything but it wasn't bad at all. I know Ja was playing a really strange character - very infantile, even more so than his younger brother. At times I wondered whether he's supposed to be on the spectrum or something and how old he was supposed to be. That would be my only complaint about this show. But for Ja as an actor I think it was good for him to try acting very different to usual. Both of them did a good job especially First. They are both developing well as actors. This isn't a show that is supposed to be taken seriously. It reminds me of My Day - a pretty serious story line about their relationship around crazy antics and lots of fun - but this is tamer than that. Less OTT drama than My Day with similar antics.
How are the subs for the express episodes on MangoTv? I am contemplating paying for the subscription to watch but would be pointless if the subs are sub-par or non existent.
MGTV as the main distributor is still at ep.19 as per today’s episode.. but tomorrow MGTV will release the express…
oh will the drop be on WeTV too? I have an account there so may be easier to buy it from there. Do you know how the subtitles are on MGTV? I read some posts that say Viki translations are better. Thanks for the info!
I know Boston was not angel and all but what Mew did is not fair. It's not like Boston slept with Top because…
I don't think that would have changed him at all as that was part of his character flaw in the first place. Forgiving someone all the time just enables them as they feel they will always be forgiven and not change. Now Ton has to really think about consequences and at the end you can see he is starting to realise that the way he is behaving is wrong. I like that the show didn't change him over night because that would be unrealistic. People do not change overnight and it could take years or decades to change if they want to. The show did a good job of explaining Ton's thoughts on the matter and how he doesn't see the issue of promiscuity in a relationship. I feel Mew was right, I would have done the same as well. A friend's betrayal cuts deeper than anyone else and Ton didn't even try to apologise or make amends until the very end. Ton needed Mew to cut him off to learn how to be a better person and the same goes for Nick cutting him off too as he could have easily let him be the boyfriend at new years but chose his self worth instead.
That was surprisingly really well done and satisfying endings for all even though occasionally I felt like everyone was kissing everyone by the end lol. I finally see Neo's acting improving leaps and bounds. He doesn't seem as stiff and awkward as previously. Also Force and Book surprised me too. I really like them here rather than the atrocity that was Enchante. I have been putting off Boss and Babe but will give it a try now. I think every pairing gave me butterflies which is unusual. I did have Friendzone vibes but I think this was done better in a way. Simpler maybe. Less over the top drama is more and feelings that are there for a reason that make sense to the situation. Character developments from all cast were well done. Well acted by all. Yeah. Bravo! !!
I usually don't start shows that are airing and now I am suffering from the wait!!! AAARG
According to MDL the show is going to end tomorrow but Viki only has upto 19. Is there gonna be a episode dump or are there more episodes elsewhere already?
Yin Xiao is going back to his own country. He says once JL finishes with her revenge he will take her back to…
Lol that's true regarding the medicine. But he also told her / or we saw in private scenes he seemed surprised by how it worked himself so I think viewers can trust him a little as the story needs to move on so the writers won't do that. Also JL tested the medicine on her herself first.
