I tried to watch Blossoms in Adversity while watching JOL S2 and I got bored.....oh well. Maybe once I'm over JOL I can try to continue.

S1 was more cohesive could be because it had more episodes. But you said acting was meh then you probably sleeping or maybe this kind of drama just not your type. Zhang Ruo Yun's acting NEVER disappoint. S1, S2, SSS, Under the Microscope, he delivered all - one of the best actors. And S2 Ending - well, knowing there is S3, everyone should have expected this season to have a somewhat cliffhanger ending and leaving many questions that would be answered in the finale. At least Fan Xian didn't get stabbed this time.

It has always been planned for 3 seasons, but it wasn't planned to span 5 years between S1 and S2. It just happened, everyone got busy. We hope it won't be another 5 years for S3. But even without S2, S1 is still a masterpiece. And S2 too.

It will be great if they can be released back to back.
