I haven't read the original novel, but based on what I found, it's more imperial / palace story. Besides, the original story is Japanese, so I don't think it can be transformed into xianxia drama - which is very true Chinese culture. Will be very interesting to see the crossover :)

well, by definition, xianxia drama = immortal heroes, is a fantasy genre based on Chinese mythology and the concept of chivalrous spirit. Immortal world usually is pair with human world and demon world - also known as three worlds. You need to understand more about Chinese mythology and what ancient Chinese beliefs. You can also watch it without taking it too serious - if you have strong faith you shouldn't be bothered with different beliefs. If this kind of show bothers you too much, well, don't think there is any xianxia story without demon. You can try imperial drama or wuxia - both are historical without the flying gods and demons.

hahaa knowing RJL and how so many dramas have been changed completely from the original novel, yea. I am not expecting too much. But I like mystery genre so I am loving this so far.
